Hello! Hope you enjoyed this video talking about the multiple Five Nights at Freddy's books that have been released over the past few years. Now while everything is subjective, I think we can all agree that FNAF's books have struggled with being consistently "good". Either way, I hope you enjoy my own FNAF book opinion! Comment down below with your thoughts!
Some gameplay/moments in this video have been used from amazing channels like FusionZGamer, The Game Theorists, and Nivala.

Another thing: they shouldn't have important parts of the lore be revealed in the books and not the games.

For me, I would like a book series following an investigator at the 1985 Freddy Fazbears Pizza. Book 1 of the trilogy is him investigating the people around them, the pizzeria, asking people like Henry and William about the incident, investigating the animatronics themselves, and getting the nightshift. In book 2, he takes the nightshift, witnessing Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy and Golden Freddy come to life. Book 2 would probably be the highlight, him working there for five nights, fifth night encountering the Puppet. Thats where book 3 starts. IDK how book 3 would go tho. Maybe he figures out the bodies and it was Afton who killed them but is killed by Afton later? IDK.

I agree that the Silver Eyes had some of the best in terms of characters and stories. Well or poorly written, I adored each character. I was upset to close The Fourth Closet for the first time. (Yes I read the whole trilogy multiple times.)

2:01 it was actually Henry who created the illusion discs, which were made as part of his attempt to recreate Charlotte as a robot. 2:14 The plot of these books was for him to learn how to create a robot for himself, a duplicate of himself so he wouldn't age, so he would essentially be immortal.

Wow, I must have read these books upside down if that was the point of The Fourth Closet. I have read the Fourth Closet many times and I got the impression William was trying use the tech to revive Elizabeth. I thought the portion where William was "operated" on was just him doing it to stay alive rather than gain immortality. Similar to how a character like Darth Vader needed to have a life support system to keep him alive, I thought thats what it was for William.

@@Sandwichly Nah it's alright, we all make mistakes, and small details in books that matter can be easily missed, especially since it's y'know, FNaF. But in a way, that's a good thing. You can read the same book over and over, and each time you'll learn something new. It's a magical feeling. (Also, Elizabeth kinda tries to make it clear that he cares more about discovering how Charlie works, rather than Elizabeth herself. This is ironic, because he previously obsessed over Baby, and now that Elizabeth is Baby, he's now disinterested and instead cares for something else. And, while William's name first appeared in the Novel Trilogy, it did reappear in the games, so you aren't required to read the books for that information.)

All excellent points. I largely agree with you, great video. Perhaps disappointingly, I sadly don't think we will get entire books of unfiltered information about our central characters or lore questions. Scott Cawthorn evidently doesn't want us to have everything clearly laid out (probably because people would start to lose interest in the mysteries of FNAF if theres nothing to theorise about). In a way, I'm glad because I enjoy the mystery and difficulty to figure things out and having it laid out simply would slightly spoil the fun. However, I hear the need for the books to not be used for major reveals because its kind of bonkers how many books and things you need to consume to totally understand the core plot of FNAF right now.

One thing I'd like to note about the Silver Eyes books is that, generally, people only really like the first one. The more people know or care about the books, the lower their opinion generally is about the later two in the trilogy, thanks to writing out certain characters, rewriting their personalities to be much less engaging and interesting, and essentially character-assassinating Circus Baby. 5:45 It sounds like Sturgeon's Law condensed into a single book series.

Here's my stance on this. I personally have no problem if the books are in the game timeline. The issue is how you USE the books being in the game timeline. Tales' approach just doesn't work as the overarching Mimic story should have been told in the games for obvious reasons. If think Tales would've had a much more positive reception, if they took the approach that Bendy's books did. For context, all of Bendy's books are taking place in the game timeline, but in spite of that, the books are completely disconnected from the games- following completely separate stories with new characters that don't tie into the games in any major way, so you're not missing out on anything if you don't read them. And in-case that there is an important lore/character reveal in the books, the games introduce said reveal completely separately. For example, the Bendy Comics collection features Nathan Arch who the games introduce without relation to any book appearance, so you don't need any prior knowledge on the character. Same with the Ink being sentient. The books elaborate that the Ink is actually itself a sentient lifeform, similar to Marvel's Symbiotes. This seems like it would be an important lore reveal that's behind a book paywall right? However again, in Dark Revival, the game introduces that lore element completely independently (the Ink Puddles talking to Audrey for example). And THIS is what I feel Tales should have been. Just like Bendy's novel trilogy, why not insert Tales into the game timeline, but make a completely separate story and characters?
@Sandwichly

Agreed, also you're making me want to read the Bendy books now.

11:45 As you pointed out earlier, plenty of people want them to be in continuity with the games so being different intentionally is not a selling point. You've got it twisted tho, people aren't buying the books and "justifying the cost" by claiming they're connected to the games. The games' LACK of actual story is the reason for the books existing and people buy them seeking answers. Nobody likes having to dig through other pieces of media to get info that should have been provided, readers just deal with it and other people complain that readers are the problem instead of the truth that it's the creators themselves.

The Silver Eyes trilogy are my favorite Fnaf book series, but they are flawed themselves (The Fourth Closet is a big example). The side characters are also really flawed as well like you mentioned. in my opinion William Afton from the novels is my favorite adaption of him! We finally had an appearance for the main villain that wasn't a rotting corpse and was on screen for more than 2 minutes! Unfortunately, the fandom has seemed to forget about his existence. In my opinion that is strange because it was the first time we officially saw him! William Afton from the movie might have been better, but he didn't get enough screen time.

Afton never cared about reviving his kids, he was just bitter that henry made something that was sentient without a real soul. His whole goal is immortality, he does not care for Elizabeth and physically and mentally abuses her in the books. Gumdrop angel as one of the worst books is crazy but I respect your opinion. It's one of the most loved fazbear fright books. I don't really understand the hate around the stories that feature characters being driven insane. Although your two examples are pretty bad, because Ella and Blackbird WERE real threats as shown in the epilogues. A better example would be pizza kit or find player two, although I do quite enjoy the latter. More books not in the games timeline is the opposite of what people want from what I've seen. People want direct connections and no "parallel" nonsense which really just originated from people being scared that time travel would be canon. Everyone thought the frights would connect directly to the games like Scott said before into the pit, then because of the time travel, everyone changed their tune. Turns out it wasn't actually time travel and we got a good explanation for it later, but the damage was done. After the silver eyes trilogy, people were excited for a series in the games universe, it felt more meaningful. Lore relevance often requires your story to be in the games timeline, as many frights and all the Tales are. With all that said, I respect your takes and if this is what you want from the franchise then more power to you. I just think as a fan deep in the community, some of us would want something a bit different than what you described. Good video nonetheless and I hope you have a nice day.

Correction,William didn't try to capture Charlotte to save Elizabeth,he did it to try and replicate what Henry did to the Charlie robots,as in the fourth closet,William slapped Elizabeth for disturbing his work,and mentally abused Elizabeth saying that she's not enough etc. He wanted that spark of life that Henry had but he couldn't replicate.
