Been playing since release, never finished an island and have reset twice. I’m currently working towards a four-seasons themed island because i’m indecisive but wanted a unique theme, and it’s a STRUGGLE. But i’m determined. Thank you so much for the tips, o seasoned islandmaker

Thank Lex for the great tips as always. I appreciate the linear way you approached this video. I have played since May of 2020 and have yet to finish. What gets me, is I take off with an idea and then literally hits a wall and I run out of ideas, or I have thought of things and then forget! I realize I HAVE to utilize the drawing, the ideas that come to mind and put them on paper for future use.. I see its the only way now to stay organized. Thank you!

I don't exactly know what to call my island, but all i know is ever since seeing bois crossing's video showing off all her latest code designs in blankets, paths, signs, and so on all in green I've been designing my island more or less around that general vibe. I guess i call it forest small town based on Ed Edd n Eddy's Peach Creek. It's basically Peach Creak but with more trees and mainly has a color scheme of greens and some white and brown but sprinkling of some other colors, think trees and green plaid blankets and wooden Furnitures. I have the cul de sac, and i'm planning on making the town area with the shops, the middle school, the abandoned house, the town dump, playground, swimming hole, old factory, construction site, and the peach orchard ran by Bluebear, with the addition of a apiary ran by Maple, the candy store ran by Dobie, and a diner type restaurant ran by Ozzie, all the other villager houses will just be residence. I want the outside to be green including the villager houses (combination if greens whites, and browns) but i'm thinking of keeping the inside of the villager's houses more colorful to match them. I want inside Dobie's candy shop house to be pink and pastel though since he's running the iconic candy store. I really love green plaid and gingham custom codes in this game and when i saw bois's video i instantly knew what i wanted to do for an island and promptly erased my last one, ive been obsessed with making a green PeachCreek ever since. My favorite color is blue but i love the green vibe in this game.

I think you forgot to mention for the first three villager houses, if you don't have access to HHP (or play it to a particular point) then you won't be able to redecorate those basic interiors (since they are not those villagers' original interiors) - just for anyone who didn't know or forgot

And of course redecorating the inside of villager homes isn't a requirement to have a "finished" island either

Question: I have HHP and played it to like level 30 so everything is unlocked. Could you elaborate, that if I restart, at what point after the first 3 initial villagers are placed, do I get to redecorate theirs and future villagers interiors? And now that I think about it if I restart do I have to do HHP all over again? Thanks for mentioning this!

Speaking of maps, i got extremely lucky with mine after a few trys. I have a green airport to go with my green theme island, and my island's name is PeachCreek and my native fruit is peaches, i happen to use a lot of green and white mums on my island and my native flower is mums. I restarted a lot to get the residence service in the right spot but each time i kept getting peach islands, it was perfect. My only gripe is i still never gotten a large dock and it's still annoying because every island I've ever ended up with always had the smallest dock... I also don't love that my secret beach is centered on my island because that's where my museum and jr high will be so it will mostly be covered, i'm not sure if ill even end up having access to it.

Build, build, build, halfway through I hate it, demolish everything and start over. That’s why I have my finished forever island with my faves villagers and everything, diys, wallpapers etc. and lots and lots of money and I keep it that way on my real switch. And on my lite I never finished anything. I play around and have fun trying new things :)

And then you've got someone like me and I have amiibos. It's not a complete set but 88 villagers and 5 specials like the kerokerokeropi and cinnamon and hello kitty pompomperi I know I'm spelling them wrong. Lol I want more. I also have a hard time staying with one theme. I wanted a black gothic witchy with lots of mushrooms type of island and it looks more like a tropical colorful jungle type. Hahaha I also like to leave room for holiday decorating and I have a space by resident services where I have a thanksgiving table with gyroids and gnomes eating dinner in a cozy home. I'm almost done about 78% and I want to already tear down and start from a flat land. I also want it to be playable. Yes I want to decorate my beaches, but not so much I can't find clams. Or some trees I'd like to still shake and get wood from same with bamboo. Having a hard time trying to decorate so it's not cluttered, but also looks nice and playable. Also I don't have access to treasure islands nor do I want to pay extra money or have to get another app like discord or whatever app to gain access. So I'm literally on my own. I do have Internet access for designs, but again its only what I can find through able sisters kiosk!

This is a really helpful video. Not helpful for me cuz my dumb self named my island “Mario 64”, which limits the theme heavily. And the island is too personal for me to restart it. At least during my last New Horizons phase I got the majority of the terraforming done, hopefully one day I finish it.
