Sri Lankan Tamils, also known as Ceylon Tamils or Eelam Tamils, are Tamils native to the South Asian island state of Sri Lanka. Today, they constitute a majority in the Northern Province, live in significant numbers in the Eastern Province, and are in the minority throughout the rest of the country. 70% of Sri Lankan Tamils in Sri Lanka live in the Northern and Eastern provinces.

Same thing happed during Tsunami. Some Western NGOs from countries like Canada sent money and resources to Sri Lanka. They said it should only help Christians, Catholics and those who willing to convert to their religions. But a lot of good Sri Lankan Christians and Catholics took the money and kicked the NGOs butt out of SL. Then shared the funds and resources with all religious groups. 🙏

However due to the politics of Sinhalese, our Tamils have been divided into three namely, Eelam Tamils (80% Hindus and 20% Christians), Sonagar or Moor (Tamil Muslims) and Mountain Tamils (Mostly Hindus). So Tamils follow different religions. But still they are Tamils... Btw I am Tamil Hindu...
