I visited there solo, about 12 years ago. I did my research before going there. One thing that did seem to be an issue was the pushy camel handlers. In fact, too many people mentioned that you must get a firm agreement about the price of a rude beforehand, and do not hand them your camera to take photos, as they may hold it hostage, and or not allow you to get off of the camel until you pay their inflated, and not previously agreed upon price. I was harassed at least a few times about riding a camel, but I kept firm and told each person that I was not interested, and my tone got firmer with each reply. Once I needed to remind a fellow that there are police over there, and if he continued to follow me around, hounding me, I had no problem having a chat with the police. Well, that guy left me alone after that. 😊

Yes good advice! We heard this sort of thing about the camel handlers before our visit. Lucky for us it wasn’t something we were interested in doing, so it was easy for us to ignore them. Thanks for sharing your experience here. 😊
