What is it like for Venezuelan migrants when they cross Honduras on their way to the US? Are they mistreated? Discriminated? Or are they helped? More than 120,000 migrants from South America have crossed Honduras in recent months. Many are from Venezuela, a country facing one of the worst economic crises on the continent. To get to Honduras, they have to cross the Darién jungle, where many have died, and go through several countries without food.
If you read the newspapers, you learn about the terrifying experiences of migrants when they cross into Honduras. Many have died in bus crashes. Others are extorted by police officers or murdered by by gang members.
But behind all the darkness, are there people or institutions in Honduras who extend their hands to help? Let's find out in today's video.
