Joanne, what you said is so true ♥️ I lived in Gokarna which is in the state of Karnatica in India. I stayed with a local family on Kudle beach. They also had a family home in Gokarna village. They used to invite me to their village home and always offered me chai and food. Similar to Liam and Janine's experience I also ate before the family. I was also invited to celebrations and festivals in the family home. They were always full of fireworks and colour. Theres no formalities, just pure Love and kindness towards their guests. ♥️

That is part of Indian culture wherein Guest gets the best bed and best food , anything we eat , guest get it first only what is left after satiating the guest the host family consumes . As kids we slept on floor mattress whenever we had more relatives visiting us . Watching western movie where guest get the couch to sleep was something different for us .

Joan I did 3 years of solo traveling in India as a woman. Never in my life have I ever seen such hard work and great hospitality as I have in the authentic Indian villages. The locals spend so much time cooking. Their food and hospitality is a huge part of their culture and hold such depth. It is such a strong culture. Due to the strength of the culture the food and hospitality is second to none. And that's why I am addicted to India ♥️

The word for guest in Sanskrit is 'Athithi'. 'Thithi' means time, 'Athithi' means one who is welcome in your house at any time of the day. So in India, a guest has the right to knock on your door at any time of the day. When the guest arrives, you offer them water to wash their feet. Then you feed the guests. The reason for feeding the guest first is to make sure that they have enough to eat. You just don't share what you have with the guests, you make sure that they eat first and are well fed. Once you feed them, you offer them a place to take a nap. When I was a kid, I remember my grandmother used to have her lunch late in the afternoon. This was to make sure that there is food for any unexpected guest around lunch time. Thank you for the wonderful video

@@0arjun077 'Thithi' is a unit of time as per the Hindu calendar. One Thithi equals the time the moon takes to move 12 degrees away from the sun. There are 30 Thithis in a lunar month. So you are right, Thithi is exactly translated to time. Kala and Samaya are different words for time in Sanskrit.
