Because of these words I don't have a dream, a goal. Everyone around me tells me to become a computer programmer, but I don't like it. Untill a few months ago I have been studying in order to folloe that path and I got to the point I started to hate it. Now I'm a few months from applying to university and I don't know where to go and I don't have enough time to change my mind (In my country you can't change your mind once you started university; you have to drop out and start again). Sorry for the long comment and for my bad english. I'm really frustrated and I wanted to share a little bit of my experience

Ureche Ana Maria Cristina If you have to drop out just to start again, then do so. There’s no point to waste time on something that your heart and mind aren’t focused on. You should stop and think about what you would LOVE to do in life. Something that you know you’ll want to wake up for everyday. If you’re not sure then you should take the time to reflect on that. I’m sure you have many things that spark great interest to you. Don’t waste any more time. Best wishes.

Probably my favorite video by Goalcast to date purely on the fact on how much I can relate to Jim. I was born with my umbilical cord wrapped around my throat and it was double knotted. When I came out of my mother I was literally a shade of blue, miraculously I survived but it obviously had its side effects. I started school and almost didn't pass Kindergarten and the First Grade, both teacher thought I was slow because I had difficulty reading, when I entered the 2nd grade I still wasn't even at a 1st grade reading level. Only the very first day though my teacher wanted to talk to my parents, and they immediately thought oh no another one is going to tell us our son is slow. Instead of saying I'm slow she asked if she could test me to see if I'm gifted, and a few weeks later sure enough I went from being the slow kid to the gifted kid. But that was nothing yet, you know? I still couldn't read I just had a new label, so this teacher during reading time would take me to her desk and time my reading. As time went on I was starting to catch up with the other kids, but she still kept pushing me and eventually introduce me to one of the greatest story series I've read The Magic Tree House books. She even gave me some of her own copies of them, and I would take them home to read! Just like Jim I would stay up late reading with a flashlight because I wanted to escape to somewhere else like Jack and his little sister Annie! And as the year went on I got better, and better. I went into the second grade barely able to read, but I left the second grade at a fifth grade reading level, and for the first time in my life I actual felt deserving of that label my second grade teacher gave me at the beginning of the year. The take away from the video is find your superpower, but what I took away was Jim's friend's father and that it takes just 1 person to push you in the right direction to achieve greatness, we are all 1 person away from being the very best.

ARM Music I am currently 24 and let me just say that you can do it 😊 it will be tough but worth it, you just gotta find what works for you. I played video games almost my whole life and they, along with books, help to learn alot of interesting and cool things. I do take meds now for my ADD/ADHD but I also know that's what works for me. Find what makes you strong and determined and then use it to become stronger, better, smarter and prouder of who you are. Push till you can't push anymore and then push even harder. Good luck to you and may you find the path that leads you to greatness 😊

Goalcast I need you to approve my French subtitles for this video because that's exactly the motivation a friend of mine needs, she doesn't understand english at all. She thinks she's slow, teachers always have to repeat over and over again, and she feels very bad about it because she feels like she doesn't fit in. If I was in France I'd gladly translate it along with the video but I live in England. Does anyone know how long it takes for captions to be added ?

My dad also thinks he's slow. And he is, he is slow. But everyone starts slow. Runners train daily to become the fastest they can be. He never trained his mind. He's 59 and has me read things to him. He can't do much math and he doesn't know a lot at all. While I don't know his IQ I know it's below average. He doesn't have the will to learn because he thinks he can't. I have tried to teach him since I was little how to do things. He says he can't learn but I've taught him how to use his laptop for his daily purposes like downloading videos and getting rid of viruses and all kinds of things he needs to do like save links. If he can learn that why can't he learn to read or learn maths or learn anything that he wants to learn? Tell your friend if she tries hard enough she can learn. Even if it's little things they stack up. Tell her to stop saying 'I'm slow' and start saying 'I could be faster'. She might not be able to speak english well but she can learn to understand and read/speak english. Don't let her give up on herself like my dad did since he was a child. Everyone can learn if they try hard enough.

I did not have a brain injury, but this was me. I had ADD and a reading disorder when there was no diagnosis. The teachers had no patience for me. The shook me and asked if I was a problem, so I believed them. I cheated my way to the seventh grade on every book report. My seventh grade reading teacher was aware. She noticed I faked a book report. She told me I was capable and that I was smarter than Every kid in her class. She said "You've been doing this until now,. You even tricked me until now." She made me stay in during. recess and finish that book. She said" This is not punishment. If you never read another book, I want you to say you read one before you graduate". I remember sobbing as she spoke ( infact Im in tears now thinking of it). That same year we had I.Q testing and discovered that I was near genius in science and I scored 100% in spacial reasoning. I was the only one in the entire school. I saw me different. I had a shift that day in front of Mrs Taylor and another after the testing. I am still an adult learner. I am a sponge for information. I have spent all my life struggling when I came to reading. I did fairly well in most of my college classes,. but became depressed by the struggle to keep up--. reading and retaining remembering information felt impossible. I am now in my forties and have dedicated the last 10 years of life to learn this kind of transformation. I am well on my way to becoming a success coach and spend every day speaking this kind of life on people. Mrs Taylor was my Super Hero and So Are You. I am so grateful for hearing your story. What a blessing you are to the world. And what a blessing you are to me. Thank You, Angela Rose

@@ddangerous Yep, it's funny how hypocritical humanity can be. While there are no limitations on what is possible, our culture of education places measurable limitations on what's important regarding significance of reputation, such as what one should or shouldn't learn via mandatory restrictions of intellectual pursuits. We preach about reaching for the stars, that the sky is the limit, or how to seize the day but contradict that framework by telling people how they should live their lives accordingly by certain expectations. Unlike Jim Kwik, who truly speaks fruitful wisdom on possibilities, most of us are taught the opposite by learning how to be a follower rather then a leader. One way we can fix our education of traditional ideologies is to fully embrace the fact that everything can relatively have it's value in some way shape or form, as long as we work smart enough to find the existential purpose or . We tend to ignore that the theory of relativity isn't just exclusive to physics and mathematics, but also life as well.

I can relate to this so much, the reading circle, brain injury, introverted but I only hit my head badly once, luckily the doctor never looked to deeply into it, he thought it was *just* a bad concussion. I say luckily because if I he told my parents about the brain injury at the time, I would have been treated very differently from the other students. And then I'd probably be subject to all the excuses that I would have been given, on how im a victim or whatever. Despite being a slow learner since then I only really got motivated when I was 17 and I began reading memory improvement books, Moon Walking with Einstein And etc basically any mnemonic learning technique books. Still on my journey to becoming an inventor! Anyone who finished this, good luck on your journey, and never give up!

*Dang are you me?* _I was a kid who loved school and everything, and when I was little I feel backwards into a box that had metal corners. After this I was never motivated in school and always had trouble ever learning anything, I couldn’t read on normal paper. (It had to be blue and still does for me to actually read it, I can somewhat read what I type... but after looking for so long it sorta becomes blobs and mashed._ _Its always been hard learning for me and it’s extremely unmotivating as you just work and work at it and absolutely nothing comes out of it... weeks of work for nothing. I was always shy but my mother pushed me and had expectations for me, and worked with me on everything. I’ve always been able to act and take on characters though, it’s the only thing I’m not shy with... when I was younger and I actually did act and stuff... but I’ve grown away from it due to no motivation in myself and being good enough._ _For me I am an only child, school has never offered me anything. Except regrets due to everything that’s been in front of me. Acting is sorta the one thing I want to pursue, but I really don’t because I don’t have faith in myself in anything._ _Due to bring an only child, in those younger years I spent a lot of time alone... as my dad left and I have no memory of him and my mom worked 3 jobs to keep us in a tiny apartment and to be able to eat. So when she was there it was nice, but she was abusive when I was younger... but only in my younger years. Over time she is a completely new person and has changed so much. I’ve always wanted a dad... to be able to have that man on man type of thing, I’ve never had a male role model of mine. I’ve always experienced abusive teachers in elementary school (who yes were fired) and girls who were olde then me... and did sexually abuse me. So it’s a lot that weighs me down day to day... as I feel like I’m not good enough, and I feel used even to this day. Also the abuse and stuff was all before I hit my head. After hitting my head; I have had extreme memory loss, learning issues, reading issues and issues with colors... and many more things._ _Also due to surgery and situations and stuff I’ve become pretty depressed... which I’ve been working on over the years but I still have trouble eating and stuff. I feel worthless, and question a lot but I am thankful to be alive... so I’m not suicidal which is a long ways away from how I used to be. As I was suicidal, but I’ve managed to work through every and be a bit more positive on my own outlook on my own life but doesn’t change how useless I feel and my anxiety with self esteem._ _It you have an advice I’d love to honestly hear it as I have no clue what to do... and I’m extremely personally and won’t talk to anyone in person about my problems. I don’t cry, I don’t ask for anything, I don’t complain, I kinda just move on. I at least have a terrible sense of humor and laugh at everything but it doesn’t make me happy... I don’t know how to explain it._

I had been teased since I was in childhood because I had long scar due to my eye injury and my right eye blind. so I see tru my one and only left eye, until now. people teased me " ghost " , some of my colleagues sent me a greeting cards and draw a picture of a girl, and a long scar under her eyes. I hate my scar and I hate myself ever since. I am not confident at all, due to that I always avoiding people to talk to me face to face. I finished my law degree and get married and settle down. but deep down in my heart, I feel like I wanted more, I want people to look at my scar, I want people to know that I survive with one eye every single day, and recently, I feel like I wanted to pursue my passion in law by continuing my Master's degree. not because of anybody, but I want it to outdo what I can't before. by watching this great story from him, I couldn't hold my tears. This video gave me goosebumps everywhere, and I suddenly felt a light glow at my center, shining brighter and brighter. When Jim said the he was given a photo of him and the cast of X-Men, and was told "You've always wanted to go to a superhero school, here's your class photo", that's when I started crying, because I see so much of my childhood self reflected by his story. And I used to always think that I was the only person in the entire world who was going through what I was going through. And I've been shown the truth.

7:06 - "I felt like what's my value on this planet. But when I woke up in that hospital bed another part of me woke up saying, there has to be a way of fixing this. And as soon as I had that thought the universe responded. The nurse came in with a mug of tea and on that mug of tea was a picture of a genius, Albert Einstein. And it had a quote. The same level of thinking that's created your problem will not solve your problem. And it made me ask another question. Again what's my problem? And I said, my problem is I have a very slow brain. I'm a very slow learner. Maybe I can learn how to learn faster. And I was like okay, where do I go to learn and I thought, Oh school." - Jim Kwik kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJqQZpqtl5mtaqMm06s 03/08/18 #Netfriending SHOW TOPIC:

My son is dyslexic. He had the hardest time learning to read that I have ever seen, and I know several dyslexic people. I feared he was "word blind" when he couldn't track the word CAT from one sentence to the next. He would cry, and rage. The other kids said he was the "stupid kid." His school administered IQ test put him at 85, that's borderline retarded. Even his best friend would say my son was not smart, not trying to be mean, but as if it was a simple fact. But I knew that couldn't be right. I would have accepted my child no matter his intelligence. But it was so frustrating to watch him struggle to show his intelligence on standards and in school, but always come up short. I knew he had a gift for certain things. His preschool teacher said his buildings were beyond his developmental age. And he always had an awareness of people's emotions, and a way of looking at things that was beyond most kids his age. He even used vocabulary that older kids didn't understand. Thankfully, his resource teacher, and regular teachers went above and beyond to help him. It took three years for him to catch up to the reading standard. And I give the teachers all the credit, with one exception. He LOVED MINECRAFT! He wanted to play Minecraft so badly that he must have asked me a million times to spell diamond. He waned to interact with the players,. and spawn cool stuff. So he typed, and typed, and typed. And I spelled diamond, and many other words over and over and over. Motivation is the key. I knew he had gotten past the hardest part when his standards came in the mail one day at summer break. I put it on the refrigerator, and his best friend (the one who thought him stupid) came over and upon raiding my fridge, he saw the scores. He yelled, "Cruz, you beat me on the English/Language score!" I swear a million dollars wouldn't have made me happier than that. My son is a Junior in high school now, and doing well. He asks for books, and has a mind for History like I have never seen! I can't win in a trivia contest with him. So, if anybody else has the same issue, don't worry. But don't be conventional either. Minecraft made my son want to read when the world was bashing video games and monitoring moms for how much screen time they gave their kids. If it makes them learn, let them do it.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21 Yep!! The bible also says to take captive EVERY thought and make it obedient to the truth... I see God all in your story! I'm reminded of another scripture promise from God that says that God is close to the brokenhearted. God bless you bro!! I will share this!!❤❤👍

This made me also think about my husband. We were high school sweethearts. He dropped out of high school in the 11th grade and told everyone it was because the football coach told him he had to cut his hair to continue playing on the varsity team. (This was in the '70's just after the girls were allowed to wear pants to school and the boys were allowed to have long hair...LOL!) Anyway, he went to work with his dad at a steel mill and continued throughout his working career in laborer positions in construction jobs and plants. One day as we were talking about our past and our goals and dreams, he explained that in third grade he was having trouble reading but the teacher never assisted him it, they just failed him and went through it all over again for yet another year. I would always help him fill out job applications and forms at the doctors offices. At age 50 he enrolled in night classes to get his GED. I was so proud of him for accomplishing his goal and getting his GED! Just goes to show ya, we can do anything if we want it bad enough!!

But how , I’m feeling my brain stuck in my head and it’s not working at all. Everything I learn, its hard to remember and I get easily forget everything I’ve learned. It likes, there is a huge wall preventing everything going to my memory. I’m feeling that wall, but couldn’t break it down .

10:32 Just like me when i was younger... I always wanted to fly. I was always building paper planes, building rc aircraft, flying drones and i know, one day i get up there myself and i know it's gonna be a hell to get up there. There are always people saying you can't. There's your money that says you can't. You get involved in problems that hit you hard mentally or physically but just do what you wanna do. Never stop chasing your dreams.

teacher know he got brain injury and got a real shy personality because of it, ask him to get to the front of class... those arent teachers, they dont have passion like a real teacher need to have, they are just on they JOB, they dont think, they dont care and thats the problem.

this mostly happened because that teacher was a bitch, so it's her fault he felt like this in the class, i had so many horrible teachers who made me doubt myself, my mind, everything, they were so cruel i didn't want to go to school anymore, but i became a teacher now, this motivated me, my experience made me realise i can make a change in someone's life, i can help a kid who is treated bad by other teachers
