Great video. You are not wrong about just putting pressure on the cyclic to turn. It’s a big disc compared to a small aileron surface. The smallest pressure gets a reaction. Love it!

It's more like 'Thinking' the aircraft to move! If you are a smooth pilot most of the time the passengers should never see your hands move!

Honestly there is nothing to see as a good pilot will fly and you will hardly see their hands and feet move.

One of our clients was SaskEnergy and there was a senior guy named Randy (can't think of his last name), but he knew of my love for helicopters and said that he and Bart used to go hunting/fishing together... Really great video and thanks for talking through what's going on in your head, it helps portray the experience really well. Just curious, what is the fuel tank max / mileage on something like that? I'm curious if someone could fly from the southern Tip of Chile to the tail of Antarctica.

Hey Sam. Thanks for the comment. That is a long trip and without carrying an additional fuel bladder mounted inside the aircraft you will not make it. The shortest trip, airport to airport is 513nm and that is providing there is fuel available at both ends of the leg! It can be done, but logistics would need to be arranged to ensure fuel is available! Oh, and to answer your question the Astar I fly has a 540l fuel tank and burns around 180 l/hr = 3 hrs of run time - 20 min reserve = 2h40 min before needing to land - Cruising around 120kts = just over 300 miles to a tank.

As a newbie pilot working on a commercial rating it's cool to see and hear what's going on in a more experienced pilot's mind when he's out on a work day. You've mentioned your time as a CFI... do you think you would perhaps teach new students differently at this stage of your development? Not sure if you've done any "advanced" training through a specialty school like Volo Mission or if you've just learned on the job and by flying with other more XP pilots? Would love to see a vid with your thoughts on that subject; basically whether it's worth it to pay for specialty training or like you mentioned in another of your vids: just go an get involved in an area or with a company that is doing the type of flying you want to do. Apologies for that loss of focus at the end. Thanks for taking the time to continue creating content. You rock.

Love the content. Your helmet looks like a LH250? Just wondering which visor options you went for and why? Thanks!

Hi Charles, My helmet is actually the EVO 152 which is almost identical to the MSA Gallet LH250, just not as high quality, but it's half the price. A nice helmet, but if I were to get another helmet I would definitely go with the Gallet. My last company bought my EVO for me.
