What I've found that improve my sleep are: Inclining my bed (inclined bed therapy) Darkening my room with blackout curtains Truedark glasses Opening my door a bit for better airflow Using mouth tape to keep my mouth closed at night Using a good pillow (I use a thin natural latex one since I sleep on my back) Using a firm mattress Using a bed frame with lots of slats for better support Going to bed before 11:15 at most (I will usually sleep earlier at 9 in winter and 11ish in the summer) I also have a grounding mat but I don't know if it does anything

I would like to add to your list. Life- changing for me was adding a sleep mask with headphones so I can listen to rain sounds or other sleep assisting sounds rather than my husband's snoring. I don't hear him anymore. This was after many sleep studies and previously taking Ambien because I could not stay asleep (thankfully no more Ambien.) I still wake up several times through the night but a lot less. 🎉

9:04 I give myself non-negotiable 8-hours of sleep opportunity 9:32 So certainly quantity is import, quality is also critical, too. It’s the combination of the two. 10:45the first thing we know the number of people who can survive 7 hours of sleep or less without showing any impairments round up to a whole number and presented as the percentage of the whole population is zero. 13:42 you may think what’s the harm of one hour sleep. I tell this, in the Spring when we lose one hour of sleep, next day, we see 24% rise in heart attacks. And we see the equivalent rise of suicidal risks, suicidal thoughts, suicidal attempts and suicidal completion, and road drive accidents, the following day. This is only for one hour of lost sleep.

I hate when you get to that point of not being able to sleep so you have no choice but to knock yourself out. I HAVE to take my sedatives when it gets that bad bc the pain of being awake is so bad that it's better to use it than not get any sleep. It's such a horrible cycle. I wish I could just sleep without the sedatives or sleeping pills. It's so hard to get out of the cycle.

One of the best arguments made here is for the elimination of the archaic process of "daylight savings time", and for points well beyond an improved sleep cycle. It was primarily instituted in America to aid the agricultural industry and has been irrelevant now for decades. Unfortunately I believe it takes an act of congress to get rid of it, since that's how we got it to begin with, and congress more often than not doesn't know how to do things that benefit the majority of Americans (and/or don't care to).

Foxes' bloodcurdling screams at 3AM isn't good, so either risk that or shut the windows and increase CO2 in the room. Also, if you want to keep stable sleep times during DST then the "extra hour" is bad because then you have to get up an hour early (and go to bed an hour early) to keep getting up at the same UTC time. E.g. 10pm to 6am BST is 9pm to 5am UTC.

So when I sat up until 3am revising for exams and feeling like nothing was going in, I should have gone to bed? Makes sense I suppose, but I'm a terrible insomniac. I've tried pills, meditation soothing music nothing works. But the sleeping pills worked for a while though I became tolerant to them, taking more and more. Dangerous.

Problem with post industrialization world. we were supposed to work harder to make our life more secure (stored food in kitchen, house, money in accounts). But price of that security is our mental health, increased risk of strokes, so on and so on...

Why do I feel like these people on stage are subliminally mocking him ? They should be honoured to be up there along side him

Dear Matthew, you have discovered hot water!!! We all know what is bad for sleeping, hardly anyone does not, especially those of us who suffer from this problem. Tell us what is good for sleeping, just don't say what the birds on the branch are already singing... Please
