Since no one else appeared to mention it the origin is actually a series of drawings, they are the three different forms we saw of Gorefield before the rest of the scenes, aka the stretched out one, the spider one, and the weird fat one. Lumpy Touch liked these drawings and created the animation based off of them.

I think at the end the parasite couldn’t control Garfield anymore and Garfield takes control still being able to use the parasites powers and protects Jon from the nuclear blast which Jon may be still alive
