Being in the northern hemisphere I am very jealous of that lovely weather. January in the north east USA is not a good time for rc flying. At best we get cold overcast skies. Maybe a couple clear days a week but usually windy... tried flying today and plane was either parked in the sky or flying twice the usual speed cuz it was so windy

I really enjoy your commentary on the take offs & landings. :-) I once attended an RC club that had a unique competition and I don't believe I've seen any videos on KZbin with that same format. It went something like this. The pilot has his plane idling on the runway ready for takeoff. A timer is started at the word GO! The pilot takes off and gains as much altitude as possible for an exact amount of time (maybe 20 seconds?) then shuts down his engine. He soars as much as possible attempting to stay aloft and then executes a dead stick landing. The timer is stopped when the plane stops rolling. The pilot with the longest elapse time is the winner. What seemed unique to me was the planes with larger engines could get higher quicker (therefore staying aloft longer?) but it also seemed they weren't great gliders and came down quicker as well. My recall of the details may be faulty but it made for an interesting competition. If your club got a chance to do this I think it would be fun to watch. Thanks for posting.

Sadly, here in Fountain Valley, California we had a wonderful model airplane field in Mile Square Park that succumbed to the onslaught of urban golfers! (**spit**) The flying models were stupendous! But the highlight was literally a flying lawnmower!
