It took nearly 200 hours to script, film, and edit this tour of the new animal room. I hope that you all enjoy the updated look of it all and the animals. I'm really pleased with how it's coming together and can't wait to show you all what I have planned for 2024. Until then, enjoy this video and enjoy the holiday weekend SerpaSquad! 💚 Also, what your favorite setup/animal in the room. Let me know! 👇🏻

I really love how you show long-time care for your animals and continue to do the best for them and improve where necessary. So often in this hobby there is this extreme focus on adding ever more animals instead of the long-time care of the ones one already has, and it really makes me appreciate this channel. It‘s also really lovely to get an update on past builds and your animals. A perfect video to watch to cool down while visiting the family for the holidays, thanks!

@the-stove-is-on-fire6 ай бұрын
I'm glad you take time to always emphasize that the animal's needs come first. I have been inspired by you and others when it comes to scaping, but I know myself well enough to admit I would not make a good animal keeper. However, I am the proud keeper of three small moss terrariums! They're rewarding enough to check in on every now and again without the need for any critters. I brings me joy to sit and just observe the little worlds I've created for a few minutes.

Loved your monologue at the end Tanner... always appreciate your genuine reflections that are so representative of how much you care. I'd love to hear more about ethics of where one can get animals in future videos. Your platform is so huge, and you really have the potential to make a genuine impact in the hobby to protect wild species, promote captive-bred, etc. I know it's especially a problem with some of the dart frog species, and there are people out there that do good work to provide captive-bred animals. Not to downplay the stuff you already mention, would just love to hear more and see you impact the hobby even more! You talk a lot about how bringing nature indoors/keeping animals can help us -- I know from experience too

If you ever redo the glowing crystal aquarium concept, I have some recommendations. You should use a piece of transparent corrugate plastic as your weight spreader, and directly silicon your quartz points to it, using ones long enough to reach right through the substrate, in a rimmed tank. Then, you can use external lights in the void space underneath the tank, removing the need for any submerged electronics, and getting the added benefit of reducing anaerobic zones in your substrate, by exposing the entire bottom layer to light, as well as any in direct contact with the crystals. Depending on the density of the crystals, you could render even a dense mud+sand cap substrate fully aerobic.

Serious question about plants in aquariums... do you have any ferns? Ferns are massive water loving plants, so can they survive submerged underwater like Tanner's syngonium (aka: arrowhead) house plants are doing deep _in_ his "Danio tank". (Timestamp: 6:30 the bottom right plant) or do you know? Thanks a ton for just reading this. I'm super duper new to his channel but everyone here in his comments section is so nice, kind & genuine. I figured it can't hurt to ask, the worst you can say is idk, right? 😂😂

It's so clear to me how much you dearly care for each and every one of your setups and I admire it greatly. I try to be the same way. Since I saw your kingsnake DIY background/vivarium video, it caused a domino effect of me upgrading nearly every enclosure I had. My late beardie went from a 40 gallon to a 125 gallon, my gecko went from a 25 gallon to a 125 gallon as well, I got into fishkeeping, and have generally become a more active and healthier person because I'm now putting more of my focus into reading about species I find interesting, finding excuses to get outside, not to mention the involvement with the animals and plants causing me to learn more about the science behind it all. Thanks for being such an inspiration Tanner. I can only dream to have such a beautiful animal room like you do, but it's clear you really deserve it and it's super evident you've been working extra hard on it for such a long time. Priceless.
