I love seeing more British made folding bikes. I've got a brompton and seeing the various other brands shows how important the folding bike generation is. 😍😍😍

I have a 6 year old Volt Metro. Design isn't a Volt strong point, that's a new design and the frame looks similar to old Volt foldables. Plus that style of frame is used by other manufacturers. For £3000 I would expect something more stylish, they could have put more effort into the frame design.

I really enjoyed this video, Eilish. There is a Volt Bike dealer about 25 miles from my home. I will give them a call soon. Thank you!

The bike is cool, for sure. But how cool is that helmet!? I want one!
@megapangolin10936 сағат бұрын
Sparkling video, Eilis, you worked hard at getting the message across on safety in the dark, to your credit. That helmet is brilliant, although the strap is a bit wayward, flapping around, perhaps they could do something with the fixings for £125 a pop? Bike is brilliant, fantastic stand arrangement and that seat looks like a mini throne for a cyclist. But the price is squawkingly... well, it is. But can totally get why you like it and recommend it in the folding category. Another visual splendour to see you in action. Evening brightened, thank you.

had a similar setup folding mid drive . So much torque to that little 20 inch Wheel ! mine has a little battery under the saddle . 52volts believe it or not . the nexus shifter is a nice touch . i Love that Ebike helmet

What would be nice to have is not just how many gears but stats on max and min gear ratios to know what the spread of the gears are.
@tomreingold40245 сағат бұрын
The Shimano Nexus 3-speed's high gear is 186% as high as the bottom gear. Does that help? You would need to know the chainring and rear cog numbers of teeth for the full picture.

Thanks for this! I notice you were in Crystal Palace, would love you to hit one of the steeper roads...my road is a 12% gradient. Currently have a Wisper and having a throttle option definitely is a must in the Palace!
@mstreich11 сағат бұрын
The other issue with mid-drive motors is that they can’t (?) support throttles, which I find handy when pulling away from lights. Or when I’m exhausted and need to get up a hill. 7:04

@mstreich Mid drive motors can support throttles, I know because I have one on my bike, although I don't use it much because I like to pedal for exercise.

I think the Ado Air pro is better value!
@falconreconeight12 сағат бұрын
The motor being in the crank does lose power because the actual part putting power to the ground is the wheels.
@dogbreath697410 сағат бұрын
@falconreconeight Incorrect. A mid drive has the advantage of using the gears to increase or decrease the speed, a hub drive just drives the wheel, so whatever gear your in the bike does not go faster or slower, unlike a mid drive that uses the chain or belt to gain speed which helps the motor.
@falconreconeight7 сағат бұрын
@@dogbreath6974 ya but the closer the power source is to the wheel the less power is lost on transition.

The max load weight is the killer for me; 100kg! I thought the Brompton's were low at 110kg, but this is a new low.

You left out another advantage to a mid-drive motor. Removing a wheel is easier, if you need to fix a puncture or for any other reason. There is no complication with wiring, and you don't have to handle a heavy wheel.

Looks pretty similar to the Ado air 20. It does have some nice improvement, but I am not sure those are worth the double price. Still looking for an upgrade that is lighter in weight. Unfortunately the ado carbon has some design choices/flaws that are not good.
@DjKayD4 сағат бұрын
How does it compair to ADO Air Carbon, which you took in the Buzz ? This is heavier, and not as nice looking. It does't have suspension or any new features. Please explain why you think its the best ? Or is it just paid advertisement ? I might get one if they bring out some more colours.

It’s so like my Estarli 20.8 but £1000 more! How much better is the power cable set up at the top of the battery seat post than at the bottom? It looks a bit untidy. More easily accessible to connect?

Great Video As Usual My, Love.. but honestly I personally don't think that any folding bike is ideal for long range ..they are only good for commuting in the city, i.e from Tube Station to your work place. The Wheels are not big enough for longe range. Well its just my opinion. Your skin is getting better

Its pretty bad, it should be around 2000 pounds / euros . I think flebi , hygge , emq make better folding bikes. at this price range you might aswell get the brompton ebike. Its overpriced , 18kg is not special for folding ebikes.

Those welds are messy. electric bike manufacturers need to hire some analog bike makers for better quality.
@benastwood11 сағат бұрын
About to post the same thing. Nearly £3K for welding of that low quality? No way
@falconreconeight7 сағат бұрын
@ I know there is added cost with the battery and the motor but that cost is put into bikes with very low build quality. You would think a bike like the Gocycle would be much more since they put a lot into the build and drive train.

"This is my FAVOURITE folding electric bike to date" ... why would you date a bike?
@thetds1015 сағат бұрын
You made one serious mistake when riding this bike, and that's SHIFTING while pedaling. NEVER shift a Shimano OR Sturmey-Archer internally geared hub while pedaling the bike. It destroys the gears, and kills the hub. All you need to do is stop pedaling and SHIFT. You don't need to stop the bike.
