This is my last video on the Greek islands for this year. As I discussed in the video, I was considering visiting one or two more islands. However it turned out that the ferry strike was extended for another two days. So I decided to catch a flight back to Athens. That was two days ago. Then I booked another flight out of Athens, which leaves this evening. Hint: the Middle East. You'll find out which country I'm going to in the next video. Hello Gabriel. Horta is usually the wild dandelion but there is also dandelion which is grown in several Mediterranean countries like Lebanon. It is a very popular dish but in Lebanon it is boiled, drained, crushed garlic is added and then it is rendered in some oil to mix the tastes and at the end some lemon juice is added. Greece is always lovely

they painted their homes with lime because it has natural disinfectant properties, helping to prevent the spread of diseases and pests. Especially in earlier times, the use of lime was a way to ensure cleanliness and hygiene and also reflects the sun. It's so much fun seeing the narrow streets and alleyways - they are stunning! I heard that white limewash paint was often used for walls and fences as it is naturally anti-septic and helps reduce the spread of diseases. I was watching a vlog about Italy and the locals mentioned it. Maybe this could have been a similar thing in Greece - someone else may know the answer.

The tea you had at Christos house is called faskomilo which is a wild sage found on the mountain. He called it mountain tea = tsai tou vounou ( tea from the mountain).

Hi Gabriel, you can see that Nicole and Christos are busy working most of the time and thoroughly enjoy what they're doing. It was nice to see them again, spend time with them, and promote what they're doing. The weather in Greece is much like the weather in Florida and parts of California are very breezy and mild with blazing summers.

Aww, and just as you've found some nice new jolly Greek music as a soundtrack, too! 😆 But of course you'll be back, there's just something about Greece (and especially the islands) that gets under the skin. I was in Nepal in the summer during the rainy season, and it was fine. Yes, it rained a lot, but mainly at night. The days were hot and sunny, with the exception of one day when it rained during the afternoon, and was the only day I had to adapt my plans.

The inscriptions in the churches state the date of the feast of each saint. Saint Eustathios 20/9 (September 20th) etc. Happy travels outside Greece!!!

Hi Gabriel, thanks for your nice videos. Let me explain something about white color. Actually white color is made of lime and water. As you know line has the property to kill many pathogen germs thats why it is widely used not only in Greek Islands but almost all around Greece. The other think to explain the numbers 20/09 and 25/03 are meaning dates of the year when each church celebrates. For example 20/09 is 20th of September when St Efstathios celebrates, 25/03 is the evangelization of the mother of God ετψ.

Explain why the grey and white road tiles are all the same throughout the neighborhoods. I like the way the look but I am curious as to why they are so uniform. I guess the dictator wanted them and the tradition has remained. Your viewers want you to visit new countries as you have already done a magnificent job of showing India and Nepal. its plain concrete and then they white wash the circles. it does need to be maintained regularly though as it does get dirty. doesnt always look that bright.

Not a huge deal but I don’t really think they are churches rather are more like a chapel. A church would be a building to worship God or Jesus versus a chapel is dedicated to Saints

There is no difference between a church and a chapel in Greece, except size. All churches and chapels are to worship God and they are all dedicated to a Saint.
