@@AlexMarkTravel the main reason is the prices , just for car park some places charging 200-300 dollars a day , a bottle of raki (Uzo) normally around 800 lira but in a restaurants it's 3-4000 lira ,hot chips 20-30 USD , pide with mince or peynirli 50-60 USD , if you go to a restaurant in Turkey on the west side with your family to a normal restaurant you end up paying 200-300 euros for a basic lunch or dinner , when I look at the Turkish videos on KZbin , they compare the prices and the islands are 6-7 times cheaper than Turkish side , that's the reason for Turkish ppl to choose the islands , it's not the taste of the foods

Best tip for anyone going to Greece. Spend no more than four days in Athens. One day to unwind and 3 to check the city and sights. Get the next plane out of Greece and head straight to Crete. Hope you had a nice experience from Crete. I have seen so many times online saying that greek food is bad and it's not worth to try it. I think the people that saying this never came to Greece or they just go to touristic traps in extremely touristy places. The kalamaki you tasted at the end reminds me how the "souvlatzides"(souvlaki makers/masters)used to make them back in the days 80s,90s. Although as a greek i find our food really one of the best i can tell that quality of ingredients and the taste of them have been dropped the last decades. I mean you can still find great ingredients and tasty food even nowadays , but let me tell you in the past everything was even more fresh and tasty. Greece of the end of 20th century was the best version of Greece ever. In every single and possible way. Just a different experience!
@AlexMarkTravel3 ай бұрын
I remember the Greece you are telling about as I spent many summer holidays in Greece as a kid, throughout 80s and beginning of 90s, that was pure magic back then. But mind you even with the quality drop of today, this is probably the best cuisine in Europe, or in the first 3. And in Crete they kept this 80s and 90s feel in many places, and hospitality is amazing as well. People who says they don't like Greek food, probably don't like food at all, or they are hitting tourist traps all the time, but that's why you should never sit and eat in very obvious touristy places. This kalamaki/souvlaki in the video is the real deal. Gia mas!

Its not just the prices. Greece has a very VARIED & RICH CUISINE. In turkey you don’t have a big Seafood Culture, no Pasta Culture, no Coffee Culture. They also cant eat Pork like Ham, Pepperoni, Bacon, Panseta, Gyro, Souvlaki, Cold Cuts, Pork Chops, Loins, Ribs. No Gamey Meats (Rabbit etc) & technically aren’t even allowed to eat Shellfish! 🤷🏻♂️ No cooking with alcohol either…its Haram. Whatever the two countries share is like a small subset of Greek Cuisine called: Poltiki Kouzina An easy example to prove this: --------- TasteAtlas Cheeses Top 100: --------- 🇮🇹 20 Cheeses 🇬🇷 19 Cheeses 🇫🇷 18 Cheeses turkey = 0 Cheeses Very different in Regional Tastes 👌🏻

GOOD FOOD I DONT SEE SURF AND TURF ,MISSING SEA FOOD>SO NOT SURF AND TURF!!! As mentioned above, surf and turf involves a combination meal with both seafood and red meat. The “surf” part refers to the seafood, and the “turf” part refers to animals that feed on grass (cows). The red meat is typically grilled while the seafood can be grilled, fried, baked or boiled. ANYWAY GREAT AND DELICIOUS FOOD!!!!!!!!
@AlexMarkTravel3 ай бұрын
Cretan typical food is not a seafood, but meat, vegetable and dairy produce. They started making and offering seafood due to tourism, since tourists expect to eat seafood on an island. 😅 And they miss all the real Cretan food, that's why I filmed only turf! Thanks for your comment and cheers! 🙂🍻
