It is such a shame we still have these racist reactions to people of color. For thousands of years, human have been selected to make snap decisions on people or creatures perceived as a threat. For centuries, white people have viewed black people as lesser, abusing, enslaving and killing them without thought. These racist attitudes are thus almost instinctive in many people. To change these feelings will take time. Peaceful protesting should of course be done, but I believe that education will be the way we end this cycle. If more people are aware of their own biases, the struggles that black people still go through, and share similar ideas it can do a lot for the future generations. This seed has had a long time to take root, but with a generation that recognizes these ideas, takes action against injustice, and spreads good intentions towards people of all races, real positive progress can be made.

There's soo many of us that have stories and as a black man its a weird feeling of comfort knowing that I'm not alone and it's not just my closet circle that has had this form ignorance pushed upon them ! Yea... You see it online, in social media, and on the news but it hits different when so many are speaking at the same time. I have a feeling that this is a turning point in history. I firmly believe that a revolution will be ushered in. A time of equality, a time of peace, a place where it's safe to raise all children, and I'm so happy and feeling refreshed that I will get to see this in my lifetime. Big thanks to FBE for posting and having these STRONG people speak out on their stories and personal experiences.

People who says racism doesn't happen are living with their heads buried in the sand. My niece at 6 years old is one of the friendliest kids in the school. She tried to make friends with this one little girl and the little girl told her, I can't be friends because your this color and pinched her cheek. The teacher called my sister crying and apologizing for it happening in her classroom. They had the parents meet, and still nothing really changed. My niece just kept trying to win her friendship because she was little and didn't understand why this little girl disliked her. Finally, my sister just had to tell her just don't talk to the girl. You can't be friends with everyone. Its horrible when you have to teach a child that.

If you are feeling low because of how you look, I want you to think, think that you were put on this earth for a reason and if you were put on this earth to be yourself than be yourself! Be black, be white, be mixed, be blue, be yellow for that matter. Because in these times the last thing we all need right now is more racism in the world. So please help the world find their way to peace by being kind to anyone in any way possible right here, right now. BLACK POWER! :)

Don's story infuriated me the most and those twin girls' story broke my heart. Vivica's story scared the shit out of me. The longer we go without justice, the more anger and hatrate rises, and the further the divide people races become. Instead of saying all lives matter, I says black lives matter, Asian lives matter, LGBQIA lives matter, Native lives matters. My life matters, but there are things bigger than me. Racial oppression is one of them.

As a POC, I'm really happy that FBE is speaking out about this and getting people to share their stories. One of the struggles that I go through is that I feel so bad that I can't really relate to their struggles; living in a pretty middle-class community in Australia there's a lot of diversity so I don't feel singled out as much, but it still hurts so much to see these people and not feel the same pain they go through. A lot of people are speaking out about white privilege, and even though I am literally a black person (my parents were born directly in our country of origin and we still follow customs from there), I've been brought up in a mostly white/privileged community so even though I still stand out, it's not really as rough as this - maybe I've just become numb to it😐

I live in a mostly white neighborhood. I go to a mostly white school. Throughout middle school I hated myself and my skin color bc of how people treated me. So many people told me white girls and lighter skin girls were pretty and dark skinned girls were not. For years I hated how I looked bc of everyone else’s standard of beauty. I’ve been called a n word and I’ve been called a monkey. I’ve been told I’m cute for a dark skin- like what??? I’ve been held as a fetish for some white guys. I can’t walk around and talk to white people without thinking they’re racist because they act normal to black people, but then talk about us behind our backs. I’m actually really lucky because my stepdad is white and we’re upper middle class. Once people see that they just assume I’m basically white- but darker. But I’m not. I’m very in touch with my Jamaican culture. I’m constantly worrying about racial profiling. I feel the need to smile and wave at every white person I walk past even when they stare and give me glares. I never get mad or speak my mind bc I know people will want to feel threatened bc if my anger. I’m not a violent person... I may want to slap the shit out of you, but I won’t. But people will just assume that when I get mad I’ll lunge at you and beat u up. No. That’s not me. When will people stop assuming??? I’ve been told by some of my white friends that they thought I was threatening at first, and that they were scared to talk to me. I’ve had ppl be surprised at the way I speak and the way I enunciate. Like you see me, and you already decide I’m going to be ghetto? Girl bye.

Good on the parents for teaching her to deal with it in a polite way, and not try to ignore it. As a Caucasian mother with an adopted African-American son, I felt it was my duty to teach him what I knew from living in the south even though we lived in Ohio. I had to teach him the basics about caring for his body. But I also had to teach him how to stay alive. How to say yes sir and yes ma’am to everyone he spoke to. How to keep his hands out of his pockets when in the store. How to not pick things up off the floor to look at them because people might think he’s stealing. I wouldn’t let him get his drivers license because of my fear of him getting shot. To this day, he still does not drive. Now that he is a grown man, 23 with a newborn baby girl, he has to worry about doing the right thing as a father as well as doing the right thing as a black man so that he can come home to her every day. He lives in North Carolina now. And I fear for him in my heart all the time. I knew when adopting him that there would be this issue to deal with. But I never knew how intrinsically difficult it would be for our family as a whole for the rest of our lives. Growing up in privilege and having to see parts of my family pull away just because I had adopted a child of color disgusted me. I never knew the hidden hate within my own family. This is my story.

I think his point is that when people try to tell you ‘all lives matter’, they’re not understanding that it’s not ALL LIVES that are being oppressed and treated unjustly right now, it’s BLACK LIVES. By saying ‘all lives’, it’s the same as seeing two houses, one that’s fine and one that’s burning to the ground, but insisting that they both need to be put out because it’s not fair if just the burning house gets hosed down. It’s Black people who need help right now; their houses are burning, and there are some people who insist that they need the fire brigade too even though their houses are fine. I think that’s what he meant.
@sweetxlies67614 жыл бұрын
@@idkdy5972 I think he got it from a comic that is going around where one character says "All lives matter." than there are two houses one is burning and the other is not. The other character extinguishes the house that is not burning and says "Well, all houses matter." Then the first character says "Yes, but still the other house needs it more right now." It went something like this.

I just started watching this video and immediately I get Ethan saying "a black person could never wear a hoodie with their hood up in public cuz they would just be seen as a thug"... this almost frightened me. To think that some white people have that as a standard, that black people with hoods up are immediately thugs..... WHAT??! I as a teenager understand that people should always be treated equally, and that racism is a bad thing. I remember an English class in one of my earlier years at high school that we learned about John Crow and the KKK and how life was for black people back then, and I get sad knowing that even now, in 2020, racism and unacceptable actions towards black people are still happening! I love how FBE has such a diverse cast of reactors and I love how including and great they all are!

I’m not fully black I’m mixed with black and white but even that can set off racism for people. Growing up I lived with my grandma and mom and they both was white, i remember my grandma had it out for me, she always treated me different compared to my other siblings. They was mixed like me but not nearly as dark as me if that makes sense. So they got treated a lot better. There be times I wanted to play the game cube or even pet our dog and my grandma wouldn’t let me. Huh getting older like middle school age me and my grandma verbally fought a lot because I knew it wasn’t right how she treated me. I remember this one time in particular where she tried to kill me with a pillow and I kept saying I couldn’t breathe. She eventually stopped but I’ll never forget that. Things are better now sense she’s getting older and stuff. I doubt she remembered treating me like that but with things like that u just don’t forget. Anyways that’s my story. I’m 19 now and it’s ridiculous that this stuff still happens. I would never have my biggest enemy go through what anyone goes through let alone racism. Huh please please please be nice to people. Skin color shouldn’t define the type of people we are. Everyone deserves to be equal no matter what. You all have a nice day.
