I'm genuinely curious, why don't they let them read the "This Is My..." card like any other card. Why do they have to memorise the contents of the "This Is My..." card when all of the panel members, the host, the audience and the viewers know that they are reading it from a card

no, i think the "this is my ..." segment is prepared. With the cards, the contestants read it for the first time then and there, but with the guests they know in advance, what story they have to sell. They could still read it from cards of course, but that differentiates the two segments a bit
