When the Honda person mentioned he was the mayor of *redacted* city I knew it was going down the road it went. When he asked about the “due process” it became apparent he didn’t really know what he was talking about. The idea of due process works with public property and criminal action. Private property begins and ends with what the property owner wants as long as everything is posted (which it was). Some people struggle to accept responsibility for their own actions and, instead, try to blame others.

@ryanlukens9280 You are correct. Maybe these illegal parkers need to contemplate the following: a stranger comes and parks his vehicle in the driveway of your home. You cannot drive your vehicle out of your driveway and go to work or go anywhere because this stranger's car is blocking your private driveway. As a private property owner, you can have the car towed. Just what "due process" do these illegal parkers think they have to park in a privately-owned driveway? It is no different for a private commercial property where the parking is for customers or clients of the business or for a privately-owned pay-to-park lot.
@jridenour31
@jridenour31 7 ай бұрын
@targetedcitizen3160 His car was towed because he illegally parked it. The happy medium between private property owners and the public is "don't park where you aren't supposed to and you won't get towed." Everything he was saying was irrelevant.

@@targetedcitizen3160so the fact there were signs everywhere saying do not park or the fact there’s a gate that locked with a chain doesn’t tell you this lot is private not sure what will. As for trying to compute between public vs private it’s really simple. Private property is property owned by an individual as for public property that owned by city or state where there parking meter up down mostly every street. Shopping centers have a time limit for how long your car to be on the lot before it gets called for removal. P

When you don’t provide enough free public parking that is what happens. This is 100% a scam set up by these guys working along with the Council. It happens in a lot of places. They refuse to provide parking then take everyone hard earned money when they park illegally because there is nowhere to park. It is 100% a scam. And these guys likely charge hundreds to get your car back. I wonder if the Council gets a cut or not.

Years a ago before smartphones. I was working nights in a snow storm. Dispatch calls me to a winch out in the middle of nowhere. And the quoted price was 200. (It should have been 500 but that's another story.) They got sucked right by slush and spun around, hit a small sign. It wasn't an easy winch out and I kept having to crawl into a cold wet ditch to re-adjust. Thankfully the police showed up to block traffic and I was able to get them out. Then when they saw the bill they started calling me names (my mom too) Thankfully the police were thier or else I think they would have been violent. Bill was paid and I went to the next call. Next day I get a call from my boss that they said I damaged the car. I was so thankful that PD was there and took notes.

Jeff is the kindest, most patient & understanding tow truck driver I've ever seen. I suggest, when a customer asks "how do I get there?" Tell them "Uber, Lyft, Taxi; or the trolley will get you to a block away." For Uber or Lyft you download the app it's simple but takes a few minutes." Uber and Lyft are cheaper than a taxi, and the trolley is surely the cheapest but you'll walk a block. Do vacationers in Gatlinburg know how to enter an address on their map program and follow a blue line?!

Recommendation. Have the company that owns the lot let you place a second lock, (of your own), on the chain. That way you can unlock the chain to get access to the lot when needed. Problem solved.

You do such a great job at staying calm, no way when she was stalking about hospitality & then he dropped the "where is the due process" line I would've been like are you freaking serious lol! It's unfortunate that so many ppl group all tow truck operators as 1 of the same individual, it's sad... You all put up with alot AND bust your ass getting the vehicles so I wanna say thanks for everything you do!!! The Mayor of whatever city and his wife are an example of entitlement. Not my fault, you should have come looking for me to have me move my car. You parked in the wrong spot, got caught, so now you have to pay the fees. He wanted to know how it was connected to the city so he could ask as a favor to give him his money back, entitlement.

Hello Jeff, always interesting videos and such predicaments you are involved in. Here's an idea I implemented many years ago while an LEO. Places that our department responded to on a regular basis or just for routine patrol, there were times we needed access onto the owners property which was secure by a chain, gate or other locked obstacle and secured with a padlock. Our department, of course with the property owners consent, purchased padlocks which were all KEYED ALIKE and placed the lock in line with the padlock of the owner. This enabled our patrol officers the ability to unlock OUR lock to enter onto the property and not interrupting or interfere with the owners lock. After watching this video today, I felt the need to put the same idea into your thinking since MANY TIMES by removing a locked chain, gate etc. would work for you making your work much easier. If you like this idea go for it making sure you have permission from the owner. Of course DON'T FORGET TO RESECURE THE PROPERTY after the work is done or it'll be game over! Thanks for your time and keep those "interesting" videos rolling.
