I agree. For the price full games with leaderboards for entire game should be present all on a gold cartridge of course and forget the other things that just take up space. Full games on gold cartridge and by gold I mean shiny gold like the original NES Zelda gold cartridge. Oh well Nintendo will sell plenty of these anyway so really don't matter from a business aspect.

I think there is a 3rd party opportunity here to create a game board of the original championship game that you can put in the replica cartridge assuming it opens.

The original NWC PCB has the 4-way DIP switch exposed at the top of the face of the cart. This creates two problems: defacing the collectable by routing out the same hole, and obtaining the specific and now rare-to-come-by matching DIP switches to put in replica PCBs. If the replica shell does open up we might be able to squeeze in a flash cart board and just load several versions of the NWC with each time restriction set on that. I don't know, I have a spare flash board and I'm in for $60 at this point so it is something that I will check into.

I went and pre-ordered this the second I saw it. The very first time I played SMB3 was at the 1990 World Championship. I even made it to the 2nd round on stage and missed the quarter finals by less than 2000 points. Nostalgia all the way for me.

It's disappointing they couldn't work with Limited Run games to make a FUNCTIONAL NES cart. That, and that alone would have sold me on the physical edition. But most fans already bought the classic NES controllers, so I'd much prefer the US version. Wouldn't buy it at all if it had controllers. As it is, I already pre-ordered yesterday. Also note: with SWITCH 2 on the horizon, and no guarantee controllers will be backwards compatible, new controllers at this point is possibly a big waste of money.

It might be a little late to say this but from someone who owns both Famicom and NES controllers; I would not consider buying the japanese version solely for it's controllers... you're better off buying the US version AND the Famicontrollers seperately if you want that ***golden cartridge*** (which mind you, might be the reason they are offering the controllers there; to prevent regional controversies...) in your collection. Otherwise, if you're completely fine without it then I say just order the japanese one hahaha

Ron gotta be honest here that I LOVE the Japanese cards representing each game because they look exactly like the boxes in card form, just saying. It kind of stinks they didn't have the original NWC games with that challenge of Mario/Rad Racer/Tetris and then aside from playing against online scores, use all the scores from the 1990 competition with the ability to add a final round of SMB 3. If you're doing NWC, it feels like a miss not to use the original challenge.

There's no need to be upset. First off, this is the modern age of the internet, you can order a Japanese version just fine. And it'll probably be more affordable anyway. In fact, even if it isn't, it's still the far more cost effective version to buy, since I recently imported the Famicom Joy-Cons standalone, and they are far more useful than you would think. If you're a big 2D gamer, and you don't already own the Switch SNES controller, the pair of Famicom Controllers, with their D-Pads, will pay for themselves, saving you hundreds of $ in how much less often you will need to buy new pairs of Joy-Cons because of them drifting through overuse. They are particularly useful for simpler 2D games ported from older consoles (yes, even the second controller which you can use while waiting for the first one to charge when it's out of battery and just slide it into the right side of the Switch to pause) but they can even be excellent for later consoles as well, as long as your button configurations are set that way. You can even try and see how many of your current Switch Cartridge games (such as New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe) can be played with them! You will still need the Joy-Cons (or possibly other controllers, such as the SFC Controller, which also help in this department and should have no trouble affording given the money you're saving on Joy-Cons) to play some of the more 3D games, but still, the Drift Reduction is quite significant. Some are suggesting to buy, don't open, and scalp later down the line. But Nintendo has made other Limited Editions that aren't as valuable these days as buyers had hoped (and that's before we get into inflation adjustments) so it's still a better idea to guarantee getting something good and saving money now rather than maybe possibly making a profit of a few thousand $ years from now, big whoop.

I was really excited to get this, hoping that it'd include the full games, but alas you can't play the entire games just snippets of them. OK if you're a speedrunner fan and/or know the games fully already, but as someone that just wanted to play the games before getting good at a single part it's kind of disappointing. There is only so much I'd want to play as clips of games as s single player, or even couch co-op, let along online competing in real time. What a shame.

So I wouldnt think of it as $60 for 13 NES games... because anyway you want to look at it, its not about getting 13 games because it is a challenge game that incorporates those games.. not full games.

But I have my doubts they would do any full games in this.. looking back at the NES Remix games which this is very similar to, they didnt include full games for those other than the 2 gimmicky Super Mario games, Sped up Mario Bros and Super Luigi Bros, the one played extra fast, the other you played Super Mario 1 mirrored as Luigi. We will have to wait and see, but I just dont think theyll include anything extra besides what we saw in the trailer.

@@Madlittlepixel Well, not only the base full games, but also a speedrun mode with the full games like in the video and clock. If this is a game marketed speedrunners, a lot of speedrunners speedrun the games themselves and use 3rd party software or something to keep track of their runs*
