It's the housing bubble that's going to suck the most. Lot of people buying houses right now that are not worth what they paid, and a ton of these homes purchased are rentals with landlords dependent on that money. Once that bursts you'll have a homelessness crisis and a larger crash then what happened in 08.

I don't think the rise is done yet because the recent news saying inflation had decreased slightly. The only problem for me though is that NOTHING in the economy is telling me it is improving. We don't go out to eat very often and prices for most things still seem pretty high.
@eatcake3073
@eatcake3073 Ай бұрын
But did you expect those prices are going down too? Lowering inflation is ongoing inflation and not lowering prices (!). Only deflation by a crisis or a bullwhip effect in supply chains will cause price decline. I think we have already had a bullwhip when businesses were running again after the covid crisis. For example in my place lots of bicycles were being sold with big discounts. Those prizes are normalizing again nowadays.

The same AI mania that caused the bubble will also crash this market. Enjoying inflation beating income growth until the stock market corrects. First LT entry at lower trendline @ around 4600 on SPX. When that breaks, and I believe it will, then it will go back to Oct 2022 lows . The US stock market is in LALALAND. Also, do not rely on technical analysis only and consider the current valuation levels of US indices, such as Buffet Indicator, Shiller PE Ratio, Revert to mean. What are the future returns from these levels? The stock market already borrowed too much from the the future. I rest my case.

Recently bought some recommended stocks and now they are just penny stocks. There seems to be more negative portfolios in the last 3rd half of 2023 with markets tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business. My concern is how can the rapid interest-rate hike be of favor to a value investor, or is it better avoiding stocks for a while?

Good question, MSCI World has around 70% exposure to the SP500 so it's still highly influenced by what happens in the States.
@cenzoredworld
@cenzoredworld Ай бұрын
Yeah as SamOween stated, msci world has significant US equity weight, as the US is the most capitalized equity-wise globally. You have to look at msci world ex USA MSCI ACWI ex USA (Net MA Tax) Annualized Return 1-month: -0.08% 3-month: +1.04% YTD: +5.83% 1-year: +11.82% 3-year: +0.63% 5-year: +5.72% 10-year: +4.01% As you can see above, not the best historical averages, not much better than the Russell 2k (depending on timeframes, R2k has a 7% on its 10-year). I would acquire specific stocks throughout the world, pinpoint that company that has strong profitability. There are some really high yielding dividend stocks outside usa that are great, not sure of now to buy, but I did well with Equinor several years back, that has a 12.64% annual yield (have to pay a dividend tax if you are US based, so knocks it down to "only" 8%). With a little risk, take a look at Sasol (SSL symbol) right now, the thing tanked and historically bargain basement (for a reason), but could run back up, has a high yield too. Don't buy the msci world ex USA index funds though, they suck.
