My thoughts as a F2P~easant~: I'm not surprised that the disparity is that big in the damage numbers itself. Personally, I don't mind if Whales can hit 5x more damage than me, as long as I can complete the game's content and the Abyss with 36* without that kind of damage. As for what my biggest frustration with Genshin as for the disparity that we F2P have between whales is that... The game simply doesn't allow us to spend more time playing the game. Whales can easily buy a ton of resin and play the game for well over an hour everyday, makes sense... But a F2P can play for about 15 minutes? Maybe less? Any extra time after that just gives us diminishing returns (Artifact Route farming, Mining, Elite Enemies routes, etc... It takes hours and tons of effort for the equivalent of less than 10 Resin!). The game doesn't allow the players to invest time for better rewards, only money, and this is incredibly frustrating for me, I love the game, I want to play it more! But I simply cannot afford to do it when the minimum wage in my country is 206 dollars. For me, Genshin desperately needs a true, repeatable and grindable end-game content, which rewards us for investing time in this game. Even if it doesn't gives us Primogens or Artifacts, they could rewards us with XP Materials, Mora, Ascension Materials, Talent Level Up Materials, etc... Stuff that could allow us to invest into all of those level 20 characters that we have and put them in a power level where we can actually use them. I don't think that me leveling up Amber and Lisa to Level 80 for free would break the game's balance, or bankrupt miHoYo. xD That's my whole take in the "F2P vs Whale" thing, I'm only upset that I can't enjoy the game for extended periods of time.

The issue with that thought is that when difficulty spikes up, it spikes to Match whales not f2p. Like abyss, before it was easy for whales and kinda hard for f2p. Now the enemies deal incredible damage and have much more health, basically resetting the progress of f2p players who made specialized teams to get 36* but not the progress of whales who are able to bulldoze through content. It stops being "build your favorite character a lot and he'll be able to clear 90% of content" and starts being whale for these characters to clear things

He's just trying to show the damage that a high spender could achieve. In abyss all you need is for WGS to hit 1 opponent under 40% for the buff to proc, so I think it's still quite viable as a damage showcase. Besides, Xinyan is already a good support for Eula, so expanding her role with the resources available to a high spender is part of the intent of the showcase imo.

To be honest, I respect and am very grateful to the big whales, because of their contribution, MHY can continue to invest so much in this game including the great OSTs, so that we (F2P and dolphins) can play such a good game. In addition, there is no PvP or player ranking system in this game, so the gap between F2P and whale will not make balance issues. So, I do not think the problem in this video is really a problem.

I use snow tombed too, altho not fully leveled up and I'm still grinding everyday for a good set of artifacts. I basically use a barb-eula freeze shatter combo now. Waiting for Ei in the next banner. I'm using C0 Eula. Luckily I got Song Of Broken Pines too, but the dmg output she can do at C0 is amazing. I only have her burst at lvl 8 and she's hitting 250k+. I never expected her to deal this much since I pulled her for her backstory, design, and animations. Edit: I forgot to mention that this is with Bennett Burst and Noblesse Proc, Superconduct, and Physical Shred with Her Hold E. Without these her Burst will hit roughly 190k-203k. Her performance for me will improve as I get better artifacts for her in the future, as I only have 110% Crit Dmg My C0 Eula Build: Song Of Broken Pines- R1 (Can Be Replaced With Snowtombed or even Prototype Archaic) 2 Piece Pale Flame- 25% Physcial Dmg 2 Piece Bloodstained- 25% Physical Dmg Physical Dmg Cup Crit Rate- 68% Crit Dmg- 110%

I think it's more complicated than that tho. You don't have pvp so people will compare their damage to other people and when you are so far behind there's a real incentive to basically give up since all your time and effort is doing nothing to close the gap. I think that its ok to c6 enhance so much of the character power, considering how expensive it is to obtain. Its also make worth saving wishes to get constelations on reruns of a character, instead of being launched kinda "incomplete" like childe and needing constelations only to fix it. Of course MHY didn't placed the cost for their games, but if you forced to play their game F2P - ly. Yup, even if I think that for Qiqi, she need a rework instead of a constellation upgrade. 5 stars are either EXTREMLY good at what they do, or can do many things quite well. I don't think I need to explain too much, from main DPS like Diluc, Hu Tao or Eula, hybrid like Ganyu who can be sub-dps and main dps (...yeah, far stronger as main dps, but still a bit of variety), Zhongli who is an extremly strong support and burst-dps. Qiqi however, heals...quite well, probably the best heal in the game, but that all she does. No preventing damage and stagger, no resistance shredding, just healing. Just being a healer isn't enough, especially for a 5 star, and I think (like many people actually) that Diona is stronger, as she is a 4 star, now free-to-play thanks to the previous event, and has access to shield and heal.

The scaling in the game rn is pretty bad rn so I don't think that would ever happen. Overworld mobs, domains and bosses are all easy once you know what you are doing. You can even use main dps amber and clear everything. I think its quite clear that mhy is catering to the more casual playerbase and therefore would keep the difficulties low.

Mihoyo did a good job balancing her on a C0, f2p perspective. Who would've thought a physical specialist would "compete" (or even beat) with elemental reaction setup. You can already do that, plenty of people absolutely dusting end game content with Keqing even though many would say she is sub optimal. This type of game needs to drive people to spend, if people can just pick a main and not feel compelled to spend at all then the game will die. To be fair though I have been pushing for cosmetics and merch since the first month as they are a great way to sustain a game long term, and it will allow them to be more generous with drop rates while letting people focus on their main characters instead of team building. To be fair though, I love team building so this game works well for me.

I think this is pretty ok, actually. Having a power gap with constellations feels like a non issue. Better than constelations not meaning much, I say. If a character feels powerfull at C0, it appeases F2P and low spenders, and if it feels even more powerful at C6, I don't have a problem with it. Whales can have their fun, and I feel good knowing my character has not reached full potential yet and it can become stronger in the future. My only gripe is with power creep, but that is another issue entirely.

Until it becomes a problem. Tectone is constantly complaining that the game is too easy. C6R5 whales crying that the game is too east - now they release an OP C6R5 character. The problem comes when they introduce content that then challenges the damage that Eula at C6 with an R5 weapon and a C6/R5 team. The 4.5x more damage gap mean that if C6R5 Eula is challenged, a goodf 90%+ of the playerbase is locked out. They already "design away" from Venti mechanics.

If have a C6 Eula with an attack speed buff you can get 30 stacks consistently on Eula without much effort involved. I recommend using Jean as one of her talents or constellations gives the entire team a 15% attacks speed boost when Jean absorbs elemental particles which is amazing even if you don't use Eula. This is especially nice when used with other physical DPS such as Razor, Qiqi, Fischl, Xinyan, and Diona. BTW Diona is the best physical DPS bow user because 4 piece retracing bolide stacked with the rust bow your normal attacks will hit for 10k or more when paired with a support Fischl, and I have even reached 20k when standing in a Bennett Q.

@@aienjell I want to be able to spend more than an hour per day into the game in total but resin doesn't regenerate that fast. If resin didn't exist I'd have all characters maxed out by now. Time investment is not even an argument in genshin considering what little you can do with how slow the resin regenerates and it doesn't feel rewarding at all. I've been playing since release and only 36 starred ONE version of the abyss (the one when Ganyu came out which was arguably the easiest floor 12), meanwhile I get all these videos of whales basically speedrunning the abyss. Time investment is one thing, but investing money into the game just to be able to clear abyss and later on be one of the speedrunners is another. It's great for Mihoyo as a company, but it sends the wrong message to people who don't spend money for it. I'd rather pay $60 to play the game and have access to constellations and refinements than be stuck struggling in Abyss as F2P, I can guarantee that as time goes on there will eventually come a new Abyss that only whales can 36 star

@@klippeisnothere This abyss is the only one I've been able to clear so far and I've been playing since launch at AR56 with maybe just under $200 spent so far but it doesn't bother me that it has been this difficult because of the live service aspect of Genshin. I spend about 2 sometimes 3 hours a day without ever spending on resin because I'm fully invested in building my characters like testing team comps, builds and now the serenitea pot which I plan to invest a ton of time into soon. With everything I just mentioned the lore is probably the thing I am most interested in and what keeps me playing so with story droughts I understand the frustration but I think if I would have been able to 36 star the abyss early on I may not be playing the game as much outside of big content updates so I'm ok with 36* abyss runs not being consistently achievable yet. I do understand this is just my experience with the game and that your complaints are shared by many others so hopefully they can find a middle ground for everyone like adding more permanent content or making their content more accessible to everybody because if Genshin does end up becoming too difficult without spending I may eventually have to find another game to play as well. Most of my difficulty with clearing the abyss is on my end because I'm currently playing with a Switch pro remote via an 8bitdo adapter and the lag makes the game way harder than it actually is for me but I can't get used to keyboard and mouse so I may end up getting an xbox remote to replace it.

Azhdaha is indeed a really difficult boss, who has a lot of HP and weird hit boxes but i think increasing the game difficulty is something good, since you will actually need to practice and improve your skills to do something :P Still like you said if they overdo it, it will Just show how whaling is the only way- I like challenges, I'm f2p and i try to do a lot of damage...im pretty proud of my kaeya doing 10k dmg with his normal attack and my dodging skills. In fact, I would be more worried about the gap between 4-stars maxed weapons and 5-stars weapons, seeing your video. I mean, the gap in the burst damage is huge, true, but when you compared the 2 set-up side by side, the C6 with maxed 5-stars weapons almost killed the boss before the burst, wasting most of it effectively (won't go into pixel analysis to determine numbers, but first set-up had reduced boss health by around 25% while the third set-up in the same time frame had reduced it by around 75%). Thanks for the work put into these videos, as a new player, they are quite helpful.

Though you did hit much harder at C6, the time to kill was actually about the same on that monster. The ramp up time for the big damage takes so long that you about have the mob dead or hit so hard that it kills it about the same time. This would definitely be a different story on a mob that has a much larger health pool.

That is a silly argument, if you have a character that can hit 6 million, so does someone else. Meaning what happens in your world can happen in their world too, and they have every right to think game balance is important because you can't have characters that renders other characters too significantly a weaker choice. In any RPG, the player's expected power level for their favorite character should always be roughly equal or at least close to other characters as a whole, not completely equal, but in the ball park at least.

Honestly if they would've put the Namecard at Friendship 9, and then a Constellation at Friendship 10 that would've been a real reason to grind them up. (Or just, make it go to 15 or something and you get the Constellation then.) So many characters that get an absurd damage boost from just 1 constellation which costs a pretty heavy amount. Heavily invested 4☆ characters end up way better than 5☆ characters simply because lack of constellations. That's my thought anyway. Others would probably say "that's too easy though" but honestly, who wants to actually pull a c1 Qiqi or Keqing. Some cons are amazing and some are insanely underwhelming.

I'm much more annoyed about upgrade materials being paywalled than Eula hitting for an order of magnitude more damage than enemies have health if you whale her.

Since it takes something like 1000$ to c6 a 5star character, I think no one would spend that much for just a 50% damage increase.. with that being said, not even a year has passed and we are already seeing this huge numbers that keep increasing with every new main dps as we saw with ganyu-xiao-hutao and now eula.. can't wait to see in a year from now xD

Tbh I can do 899k with eula c6 with no buffs or electro support, so if a character comes that does more, it wouldn't matter as eula will still be relevant. Right now with ganyu, c1 hu tao, and c6 eula, I will only pull on a dps that I Really like and might c6

I think Eula is a long term character, who if you main her, you will pull on all of her reruns, and I am ok with that, genshin has 10 years of plans, qnd after that the game will still shine for a long time.

If a C0 character is "Strong" and can clear End Game Content(i.e. Spiral Abyss and such), I think its fine. Any extra damage it gains from weapons/Constellations after that I think is unnecessary at least at the moment and it's only for those who wants to see the big numbers. From 500k to 2mil is crazy but not needed. I'd say she's one of the few units so far that doesn't need a certain constellation to be considered good.

Yeah, the Abyss obviously isn't balanced around that 2.5m DMG build. So if you wanna spend tons of cash to be able to clear content in record time, then god bless you, you're helping finance this game! The only thing I dislike is how whales are able to play the game more, as they can refresh their resin every day. To me this is much more unfair than them being able to hit for bigger numbers.

Well the dmg is locked behind the stack mechanic. Maybe they are planning to add a f2p attack speed support or even attack speed food in the future, which will lower the dmg gap.

Meh, all the content is still clearable at c0 for all characters so it's honestly just flexing for fun. It's not needed nor required. I mean Xiao c6 is just like Eula. His damage is 3 times his c0 just with that one constellation lol.

Yeah, Xiaos C6 is one of the strongest cons in the game. But again, my C0 Xiao with deathmatch is clearing abyss just fine so 🤷🏽‍♀️. I think Genshin is really good because it both caters to whales who want to see big pp damage from whaling for weapons/cons but also most content is easy enough for average players who just need to invest a bit more time into it.

I love the ability to reach such absurd levels of damage. Even tho it’s not needed to beat the game it gives a feeling of freedom. It’s almost comparable to a rouge like game where you can collect crazy components to build your character in ways that just make them unstoppable. I like how that’s possible with genshin, I mean I’m already restricted heavily on getting good weapons and characters I’d hate to be restricted on my strength as well. I think especially since this is really a single player game I feel like there is no issue in that regard.

It's a given that Eula's burst is very expensive, I still agree that it is fine since we don't really need that big of a damage except an achievement for myself if I ever get to do it as the cost of upkeep for her burst is hard to maintain to spam it. Fun character to have and play with her beautiful movesets nonetheless.

There is a chart that shows dps needed for floor 12 abyss from day one up to now. It was shown today on a stream but I am hoping I can find it, anyway it shows a large dps check increase from the last abyss to this one and looking back to the early weeks of abyss the difference in needed dps is extremely large. you can see it increasing from abyss to abyss. Between that and the newest world boss compared to the others, it’s safe to say these c6/whale numbers are being taken into account and it’s a gacha so we have to expect power creep. Whales like Tectone are crying about how Ayaka’s C6 isn’t overpowered enough, and whales like that pay the bills, not f2p, low spenders, dolphins etc. I hope it doesn’t continue to the point that it seems to be going but I could see it essentially turning into high end content being made for whales and story content being the content the balance for f2p to beat. I hope I’m wrong and that challenging content will always be possible for those who aren’t spending thousands per banner in the future but having been through other gachas it seems like the companies always end up tailoring the experience for the whales in the long run. One big glimmer of hope is that there isn’t pvp so it really is going to be just how greedy Mihoyo is with making players feel like they need a certain power level to beat content.

We need more content that doesn’t cost resin, or like a goal to reach endgame fro us f2p. Me personally I’m just a little fish compared to a whale and have spent a bit of money on the game for characters but it’s just kind of annoying knowing that there really isn’t anything good at the end of game so far. I’ve read a lot of comments like this. Let’s just hope that mihoyo makes a good finished game during these years and that it’s like battlefront where the game is not too good but could be better kind of thing.

haha, "everyone wins" more like, the company wins, the game loses and the player also loses. the only reason a player should spend money, is to push for new and enjoyable content and not for damage numbers. if you spend money, to make wishes for a new character, than it arguably fits that statement but if you spend money to get the same character alot of times, than you are just throwing money at the company for nothing but a few numbers. so you basically just got robbed after you were seduced by something as unnecessary as damage numbers and you did exactly the opposite of motivating the devs, to push for new content, since they will just sit on the money and dont feel the need, to innovate.

But as a Whale, I'd be bored to death if every time I play, THIS (video) happens.. a matter of seconds/minutes, and Abyss is cleared every 15 days. If no Whales, no monetary support.. If content for Whales, no F2P players and no Whales creating content, and moving to "best new thing". As it is Whales are dumb for continuing to put money on the game when they have ONE character/team that can clear everything now and until the end of times. Tell me, what will require more than 2 million damage that can be cleared by F2Ps? Nothing.
