Came for the adapts comments, but couldn’t agree more with the next %. Absolutely insane tech. On that note from tinkers vision back when earl was starting it actually reflects those pumas. Adapt line envisioned taking real time data that could show athletes where they can improve while also adapting to there demands. Really hope they keep trying to achieve that and as a runner I cant wait for the adapts to be able to do that. For now I just got my 4th adapt this morning. Hey Jacques! Amazing video. I could be wrong, but I remember reading about the Nike Adapt and how it was designed for people with strength disabilities who couldn’t tie their shoes, so they could get their shoes tightened easier. In that way, the Adapt is truly a great step forward for sneakers, as it addresses an issue some people have when it comes to footwear. As a fan of design and technology, I am so excited for what the future brings.

Nolifel Pasajol Realistically, I’d assume the average consumer would be willing to pay up to $70 for a shoe. Those who are a bit more interested in shoes for either style or practical use (including for work/sports), would likely be willing to spend anywhere between $100 to $200 when considering materials and technology that they might prefer or are interested in. I, personally, think Nike Adapt sneakers would probably sell a lot more if they were cut by half of their current price of $400 down to $200.

Cool video and I get your explanation for why you chose these shoes, but personally I think you relied to heavily on Nike's shoes. Don't get me wrong they are certainly leading the way in future of sneakers but things like the Adidas Parley really lead the way in mass production using more sustainable materials and now Converse has their renew line and Nike dropped the Space Hippie line. Also it would have been cool to see maybe like the future of skateboarding shoes because with the rise in electric skateboards and other personal electric vehicles we are going to start seeing shoes specifically made for that. Both Vans and New Balance are doing some pretty interesting stuff with their skate shoes. Vans has started introducing their rapid weld technology into more shoes that is a process of attachment two piece of material without stitching. This make a stronger seem and that is less like to bust because it won't have treads to tear. New Balance is always innovating with their cushioning and materials. They brought that same technology and expertise to the skateboard sneaker. None the less it was great watch.

My question is this: If Adapt or Adidas 4D could be the future for sneakers, when will the tech reach an affordable level? When a shoe retails for $300+ it's automatically disqualified for most people, so what could these brands do to get to $200 or lower retail to see if the masses actually want tech in their sneakers at all? Personally I'd love to see a type of sneaker tech that could change they way they feel on you feel at your command. Like if you wanted a CASUAL MODE: No tech, feels basic but comfortable, like an Air Jordan 1 or Adidas SuperStar. PERFORMANCE MODE: Turns on a feeling like Zoom Air and a tighter fit for when it's game/run time. WORK MODE: In-between both so it's designed to keep your feet from hurting because you may have to wear them for longer than normal times (like people who work blue collar jobs, or people who walk longer distances on a regular or extreme case) If you could get all of those things into 1 shoe and it still looks good, that would be amazing.

Jacques, I think you ignored the "trash shoes" segment. Making shoes out of recycled materials involves technology too, and it's the kind of technology that can be beneficial to the greater population, even those who don't use them, because it reduces the carbon footprint of these shoe manufacturers, if even just a little bit. Of course, if no one buys these shoes, then that just creates a whole new problem.
