Southern IL got over 17 inches of rain ! Caused a dam break . Up here in Northeast IL. Our monthly total is only over 5 inches .

We have had the best July weather since I was a little kid here in Central Arkansas. We have had plenty of rain, keep getting rain every week, and it is about 15 degrees cooler than our typical July. Heck, it was 66 degrees here this morning, and only 87 today. Normally it's like 74 to 84 in the morning and 98 to 105 during the heat of the day during July, and we are usually in drought territory during July. Not this year!

Just wondering is monsoonal showers caused by the troughing and ridging, or is it part of a south easterly flow bringing moisture? Also is the 'cool' front based on 1 - 5 deg F difference so like a small relative change from 100 to 95 or is it like a certain value, ie a cold front being a 'cold' front because it brings -10 deg F difference between either side of the boundary; just an average curious thought to mind, would like to know @POWPonderonWeather
