I'm a bassist thats a huge Tony Kanal Fan and a long time player of this song. I even use the same Yamaha 1600's he uses. One of them is signed by him!

This is a great lesson. Thanks for explaining the technical aspect of the bass line and showing how to transpose it. I would love to see a few more videos just like this.

I learned bass to play spiderwebs, also landed me my first date in high school :)

“Tragic Kingdom” was my first move from being a 15 year complete metal bassist into an “exploratory bassist”. When that album hit I was so blown away by what Tony was doing, I learned the whole album and started really exploring “other” bassists. And “discovered” John Taylor shortly after.🤪

This is great. I've done similar things barrowing & modifying basslines for similar grooves within the same type of music but this really expands things. Thanks!

Great video. Nobody else is doing this 'breakdown/analysis' concept (for bass) on a regular basis. I'd love to see more of these videos. And I thought the application of the line to another song/set of changes was interesting.

Thanks Paul! I do this kind of stuff every day on Twitch. However, I no longer do bass lessons or educational videos here on KZbin. Swing by any time and check it out! www.twitch.tv/jaymelewisthebassist
