Crazy how thieves have figured out how to steal without the rick of jail.

You wanna know what the definition of insanity is? 20 years ago my friend bought a barbie doll, wrapped it in its box, in "kitchen wrap plastic " to keep it clean and put it on her shelf. Last month she picked 4 of her Barbies to sell (for space reasons). The person that bought this item left a note saying "if the box is damaged please cancel order". I messaged the person, with additional pictures saying "the box is undamaged but if you'd like to cancel, please let me know". The buyer replies "no, please do not cancel ". So I sent it. Today I get a return request. The reason? Buyer says "the plastic wrap is torn on one side". Mind you, the box and the Barbie are perfect and unopened but the plastic my friend put on it is torn. I'm accepting this return because this person is crazy and she'll eventually find a bubble wrap or packing peanuts on something she orders and want a return based on it. A $20 doll from 20 years ago with torn kitchen wrap.

I've learned in over 20 years of reselling and doing auctions. Never set your sights too high, you'll always be disappointed. Also never get caught up in fever-bidding.

I just seen a guy saying he was selling on Amazon and like 30% of his costumes were getting returned after Halloween. He said he’ll never sell anymore costumes on Amazon

Amazon could stop the return theft by changing their policy- inspect all returns and refuse refunds for thieves.

I am seeing more and more buyers doing a returned expect to get their money like Amazon on the Ebay platform. falls inline with this crap too.

I just returned a crafting tool to Amazon. They made me do it thru Staples. I didn't box it up or anything. The employee went thru this whole procedure before sealing it up. I don't think Amazon even gave me an option to mail it myself, which is different from before. So, I guess Amazon is trying to alleviate this problem, as well as save on transportation. The employees would have to inspect inside the manufacturer packaging for the return process to be more thief proof. It's also possible that it's not the customers doing it and that it's one of the middlemen. Just like Goodwill intercepting the more valuable items and selling them online, instead of in-store.

Yeah ive been hearing stories from other Pallet liquidator resellers. It's getting to the point it's not worth it anymore. We have a store that you can buy Amazon returns also but it's a real gamble. It's between $50-$100 per package.

One thing, that swap out unit may Power On, but whether it's actually working properly is another story. That's the problem with complex electronics; power on is not the same as plugging in and testing all features. (and even knowing what to test)

I think I would bid a max of 10% of the "MSRP" manifest value on liquidation auctions for this reason and others. It still amazes me that the Amazon train keeps chugging with all this waste and shrink. You would think it would catch up at some point...

Is it possible the liquidation companies my be swapping out or removing "good stuff" before selling to others? Maybe not in this particular case as that is a very unique item.

Hi, I have been listening to your channel for awhile and your very informative and helpful too your viewers! I don’t usually leave remarks, but this is very necessary to let you and your viewers know,I did many years at Amazon returns hands on, it’s the last company you should want to buy pallets from, the company is a dump to say the least! No one could care less what goes in those pallets, down to swim suits with no hygiene strip, worn Halloween costumes, broken vacuums and lamps! They face name brand boxes toward the outside facing the buyer and the box will not contain the correct product or missing pieces! Consumers can return and item even after a year… they care nothing about buyers or customers or their own staff, which are their customers as well smh! I myself won’t even buy their items 🤮🤢. Had to agree to a disclaimer when I left but I need to inform my EBay friends, That EBay is a much more reliable platform 100% better than Amazon Will ever be! Don’t do it, you’ve been NOTIFIED 👹👺

People think that Amazon can afford it, and they’re probably right. But that doesn’t make it ethical.

This is awful but this is what happens during a high inflation the average person somehow justifies stealing and the sad thing is, I don’t think they even have remorse doing it. This would end if Amazon’s would just open box to verify that same item is in box less than 30 seconds At a drop off center. If these people would have a fear of being caught then it would stop. I buy some liquidation but I buy at auction houses that buy the pallets and sell one item at a time so you have time to inspect before buying you pay more but don’t have the crap to deal with. Great video thanks

The economy is bad, inflation is out of control. I’m not surprised that you are getting more swap outs. It’s hard to afford anything these days. I don’t buy pallets like you, but I am having a hard time finding good inventory too. For about 9 months or so. Inventory is just not as easy to come by these days.

I rarely do Amazon returns. However, when they sent me a busted set of ear buds, they held my returned item for a month before refunding me. They said it was a quality control check on return items. I have a clean record with Amazon, a prime account, buy there regularly, and have had the same account for over a decade. Subjective - but it made me feel like they're taking a closer look at these returns now - particularly electronics.

Instead of buying mystery items, why not learn and sell in the used book market. If I spent 500.00 on books, I would 10-20X my money. Used book market has no better ROI...

@@PaperGoldPodcast I make between $12-$16k in sales per month doing what I do. That’s the reason why. I honestly don’t care about impressions, ROI, ROAS, or any of that. How much is eBay depositing into your account at the end of the day and liquidation does that for me despite the issues I talk about.

@@PaperGoldPodcast our situations are all different indeed. It all boils down to doing the best with our sourcing opportunities. I’m sure many years of figuring that out has benefited you and if my sales were suffering I would be interested in learning more. For now I’m still doing well and happy with how things are going overall. Thank you for looking out for me however. I appreciate that.

Liquidation pallets and storage units. High risk buying not knowing what you're going to get hoping for high payouts. You might as well buy Bitcoin.

That is how i got started on ebay back in 1997ish? or whenever it was, ebay was only 2 years old when i joined. Back then they kept showing up at the swap meets, flea markets, different events with a booth and i asked my wife what is this ebay booth we keep seeing at these events and she said don't know and the lady heard us called us over and introduced us to the online auction site. went home from the swap and checked it out that night and was hooked ever since. wasn't hard seeing i did almost every type of auctions before that farm, real estate, estate, foreclosures, county, sealed bids, construction, repo auctions, storage, etc i was into auctions heavily back then. didn't have time for a job back then, had auctions to go to so doing them online was the next step up. To get my feet wet we just sold extra stuff we had laying around that we weren't using. think the first item was a candy dish and the second item was a wooden fishing lure that was hanging in the basement when we brought the house.
