@@drewtheunspoken3988 But Konami is currently desperate to get the boomer audience on their side again, because they can't go anywhere without them, and has been working on a large scale game catalog revival... with Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania, and Suikoden is part of that. Now Capcom is an immensely more successful company, in fact so stacked with big hit franchises that they chose to abandon most of their classic franchises like Megaman and BOF is included (and even Street Fighter was abandoned for some time), to favor Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Monster Hunter, etc. So BOF has a small importance for them, and they aren't in a moment of wanting to please their boomer audience. They don't need any of that. So that's the difference between the two companies.

I believe Breath of Fire IV has been on there to vote on for longer, probably because it's the only BoF game that already had a PC version if I'm not mistaken. And BoF III now has almost 400 votes more than II, so maybe PS fans were slow to get on board. lol

Breath of fire 2 especially holds such a special place in my heart despite all its issues. I would pay full price for a HD-2D style remake of that (or any of the 4). But a collection or even just a retranslated bug fix port would be fine.

BOF3 and 4 don't need a remake, maybe only 1 and 2. Even so, 1 and 2 are fine with just hd remasters, qol features, other fixes, and a new translation.

Konami just had two major collaborations with Poncle for Vampire Survivors, which has reignited interest in the entire Castlevania series. If Capcom did something like that, they might see there's a bigger market for the classics than what they realize, and be willing to rerelease them to newer platforms (PCs too). I would love to be not only able to play the games again, but also a new entry to the BoF series.

Basically the only classic franchises (created until 94-95) that exist for Capcom are Street Fighter in first place and maybe Megaman... not much for new games (that don't exist) but for other forms of advertising it. BOF is not in their range of interests sadly. And that's also very different from Konami's recent behavior. They actually are caring for making their franchises notable again. Meanwhile Capcom is so big that they can safely forget BOF.

Even if this doesn't lead to a lot of these games getting ports I do think it'll be good for showing publishers that there is still interest in these classic games, probably leading to remasters later on. For me personally I voted for CyberConnect2's original games as a lot of people have forgotten about them because CC2 are mostly known for their anime games nowadays, hopefully Fuga and their other future self published games change that. Anyway these are the first 4 .hack games as well as the Japanese exclusive .hack games, Tail Concerto, Silent Bomber, Solatorobo and Asura's Wrath. I also voted for the Xenosaga trilogy as that's another series of games Bandai still hasn't remastered yet and I'm surprised by that because the Xenoblade series is so popular right now. Then again Square Enix hasn't done anything with Xenogears yet either. I'll go vote for the Breath of Fire series as well.

I played Breath of Fire 4 on the PC back in the days. I actually started learning because I wanna do something like Breath of Fire 4 (same art style and vibes). I'm still working on the learning first. Gaming dev is actually not hard (in the sense that you can understand what you need to do, even the programming it's nothing out of this world)... The real challenge is doing it, because it's just a loooooooooooot work. So I'm thinking about doing a short 5h to 8h RPG. A full 40h game... Impossible for me.

the entire ps1 library can easily be played on a modded ps3, psp, vita or via emulation so i can't say a pc release is absolutely needed. nice to have, sure, but its likely that the pc ports would introduce problems making them less desirable to play as well.

Remakes are almost impossible in my opinion. The modern Capcom only works with safe projects, and they but a ton of budget and effort in this small group of projects. Remasters are unlikely overall too, but more likely than remakes.

I can see this being good for titles or IP that they have no intention of using in the near future, as they are likely to see 'free' money in it. But would likely decline to let them use titles or IP that they have current plans for as they always see it as potentially canabilizing sales for the new title. I want a brand new Breath of Fire game that could combine smartly all the good plot events of the 5 previous games. Yeah i even include BoF5 because i'm certain their idea to try to avoid to use the dragon form could be reused smartly (ex: in a hard mode challenge, or in certain parts of that new game). Of course the best influence should remain BoF2-3-4, but especially the 3rd game because i liked the gen system, the overworld map, the atmosphere etc... It would be my dream BoF game.

I worked at gamestop when the 360 was fairly new and there were some pretty awesome rpg gems on there, u did mention lost odyssey and blue dragon, but very few people i hear mention infinite undiscovery, it has mixed reviews but it has some elements of the valkyrie profile universe in it i think its a hidden gem i absolutely loved that game:)
