Even with the animation problems, this was a great season and top 10 anime of the year. The story, characters, the game, the ost, the energy, all of that was pure hype, even for manga readers. And the best part is that they knew when to put the budget in the key scenes like the goals, and the final episode was top tier animation.

Since the anime decided to skip this bit I will explain the Kunigami thing (w/o spoilers ofc) So basically after Kunigami got destroyed by Shidou (shown in chapter 88-89) we see that next to the exit there's a Wild Card Door (fan theory is it's a loser bracket) So we basically have 36 players in Blue Lock (35 from 2nd Selec. plus Kunigami) meaning Shidou is still there. Hope that clears things up a bit. Can't wait for S3🔵⛓️⚽️

If you think about it, yes they could have animated it much better, but the way the manga is done, which so much dialog between characters and the evolution of those being done in the middle of the games, unless you add stuff that it's not in the manga, you won't have it so much better than this, the Rin&Sae scene fighting eachother was so good because there was no dialog so we see "only gameplay" focused on those 2. Imo the way they used the colours in this season was beautiful, some of the dialogs like the explanation of Shidou's logic was crazy, and the most important thing, episodes kept the hype up, we also have to keep in mind that right after season 1 finished they announced a 1h movie and the second season, it's not like they had an unlimited amount of time between season 1 and 2. For me the season was fine, totally enjoyed it.

That's what I'm saying. Rin vs Sae was literally the only manga chapter so far with no text and non-stop motion. People don't understand that the natural pacing of Blue Lock is meant to have slow animation because we follow Isagi's brain and how incredibly fast he processes information, hence why 3 seconds become a half-a-long minute scene. Not wanting ANY still frames or frozen moments is just immature and stupid IMO

@@lukastace3154 That's all well and good, I had no issues with the PNG lock moments like a lot of people but the main problem is that the parts that were supposed to have MOTION were sub par as well. Like the moments they use the 3D CGI thing to make people run it looks bad and jarring. PNG Lock moments were crucial like you said because it's exploring the thoughts of the characters in the microseconds it takes for them to make decisions. Not only that, some of the PNG's were accompanied by beautiful visuals, like Isagi with his puzzle pieces, all the 'aura' stuff, Aiku's Snake defence, etc. People say Season 1 was the same as season 2 but season 1 had a lot more well animated moments. Like even Chigiri's moments in Season 1 felt godly while in Season 2, the animation for his running moment felt lacking.

@@Mukatutu Oh I 100% agree, l'm not saying the movement animation was up to the level of season 1 either. The story, soundtrack, heavily conceptual imagery adaptation (Reo's Chameleon, Aiku's flow, etc) were all done greatly, but there were still moments from the manga during the match that I really wished were better. Like you said about Chigiri, he received the worst end of the stick mainly because his moments are heavily reliant on plain physical movement (which the studio did poorly) and not visual symbolism and imagery (which the studio did well). My main point was that the freeze frames and slow sequences are natural for Blue Lock, not that the animation was good. There was a clear downgrade in movement fluidity from s1 in episodes 2 and 3 of this season as well as other scenes, but it's nowhere near as bad as others are saying IMO

Shoutout to all the blue lock fans who didn’t just shit talk the show after a few bad animated episodes. Sports psychology is a huge aspect of blue lock that they’ve always done well. Music, bangers. Voice actors, bangers. Storyline, BANGER. Anime is more than pretty scenes. The scenes at the beginning weren’t great fs, but how much hate this show got was really really corny and lame. I guess the anime was trying to show how much more of a superior player of Sae to everybody especially if he could’ve scored for his own if he wanted to but sadly he’s a midfielder not a striker and he hardly cares for the game.

Furthermore the animation was bad throughout the whole match of course it was pretty good in some moments(Shidou, Nagi and Isagis goal and Rin vs Sae) but apart from those moments the animation was mid if we being honest

It's definitely deserved, they focus too much to improve the art and add unnecessary shading that it becomes hard and takes too much time to animate and they ended up running out of time, the last match up just shows they'd have time to animate a full animation sequence if they just simplify the art
