The best flight training starts with gliding! We glider pilots are not afraid of an engine failure and some of us can even land on the hudson! :-) You are doing everything right! yeah ... thumbs up
@fingerhorn4
@fingerhorn4 4 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Gliding teaches you everything you need to know about practical aerodynamics, height vs speed management, rudder control, adverse yaw, circuit/pattern precision, energy conservation, stick and rudder skills, safety, concentration. Learning to fly a Cirrus is NOT a path to understanding without a lot of extra work. All the best pilots I know are or were glider pilots. PS: lady in this video is a rare combination of modesty, charm and ambition. Nice video.

I'm 80 years old. At one time I owned a Piper Comanche. I got an instrument rating and flew 12 hours after that. I had a young family and knew I did not have the time or money to stay safe. Love your videos. Much too old to fly today but still love it. FWIW, in my career I spent 40+ weeks a year on the road for 37 years flying commercial all over the world. If I had a life do over, when my kids were grown, there was a time envelope when I could have gone back to it. Oh well, I loved what I was doing and never got to it. Keep smiling young lady, you are a breath of fresh air....

Wow, what a resume! My first experience flying was in a glider too when I was 15. Then I wanted to be a helicopter pilot. At 20 I did a few hrs in a helicopter and realised quickly that it would be cheaper to get my fixed wing and rotary so I switch to fixed wing training in a small country town in Victoria. Did about 30 hrs, up to solo then life got in the way, now I have the time and money to finish my training, did several hrs and fell in love with flying again. Unfortunately now with corona I’m grounded too. I feel your pain. Stay safe peeps and hope to see you all up in the sky again soon!!

Hi there. I'm from South Africa. I just finished my PPL two weeks ago. It's been a dream since primary school. Unfortunately money was all that available so I had to work my way trough. At the age of 38 now, I finally got my PPL after the third attempt. First two attempts, I ran out of funds. I did my training at Lanseria via Skyhawk aviation. Those are the guys that helped you with that flat tire you got there after landing. I was busting my head over this hour building issue because my CPL is still a long way to go. I got a friend that said I can fairy aircraft for him, obviously with no payment but I don't mind, as long as I can fly and every hour I can get on the log book, is an hour closer to my CPL. Although, moving aircraft around for a friend isn't regular flying, might only be five or so flights a year. You gave me an idea on joining a skydiving club. I any case, my plan from here would be to complete my night rating, get my CPL done and then get my instructor rating done. With my CPL I can do some scenic flights, do part time instruction time and use that to fund my my multi-engine and instrument rating. But keep up the good work. You're an inspiration.

Old enough that some speculate that I was taught by the Wright Brothers. Have been commercial instrument SEL for years - never wanted to be paid for a fllight, but have had the satisfaction of providing 100's of Angelflight missions. If you haven't done it, sign up for this incredible way to give back through the gift of aviation. Love to hear your goal is humanitarian flying - all the best pursuing that dream!

You said something that hit home for me as a dad. I never fulfilled my dream of flying as I followed a career in computer. Really sad as things seem so different right now. I’m not sure what my passion is, and to see how you followed in your dads dream, I wonder what my girls will find as a passion to grasp. It’s easy to fall victim to the mundane, and at nearly 60 it’s something I’m thinking through. You have a wonderful personality and attitude. That will take you further than anything, and I’m so proud of you. I have over 50 hours in a 172 as a pp-trainee and hope one day can fly again. Again, I wish you the very best and thank you for letting us ride along.

Great channel. I love the energy and enthusiasm. Myself not a commercial pilot, but over the years I have accumulated well over 1000 hrs of flying on 2 continents. I got my PPL in Oslo, Norway in 1995, then a night rating. I flew in Scandinavia and mainland Europe in C172, M20C, and PA28R until I moved to California in early 2000. Flying in California was a blast, with wonderful weather most of the year. I had been reading the Jeppesen Instrument Commercial Handbook for fun, but had bit really considered doing an IR until 9/11 happened. All the airspace around the major US cities was banned to VFR for a long time, so I was effectively grounded. I therefore decided that if I wanted to continue flying, getting an IR was the only way, and I did. The written was a breeze. They flight training was done in one month, and there I was exploring a totally new way of flying. When back in Europe it took a while until I found a N-reg I could rent and exercise ny IR privileges. After a few years a, I was able to convert my US IR to EASA. In search for new challenges I also got an MEP and IR/ME, and bought an SEP airplane which I am flying IFR all over Europe.

Love your videos! I started with gliding many years ago and flew in South Africa when I voluntered for a local NGO (Cotlands in Somerset West), as well. I did some gliding from Worcester airfield, flew Cessna 172 around Cape Town and hitched a ride in a Jet Provost. I also visited Stellenbosch flying club many times. Thanks for reminding me of those amazing times and thanks for sharing your passion for flying!

Did my integrated ATPL at 43. Great flight training, did flight instruction in Johannesburg, then flew in the Okavango delta for just shy of three years on both c206 and c208 now working up in in central Africa on contract flying the c208. Not aid but close to it. You are going to love the 208 such a beautiful machine. The STOL performance is amazing. Even more so with the APE3 STOL kits!. Hope you come right with the humanitarian flying! Happy landings!

Congratulations young Lady ! As a father of two girls in your age group, I am in awe of your drive and determination to reach your goals. When I was learning to fly nearly 15 years ago, a 16 year old lass who didn’t even have a drivers license at the time not only learned how to fly but completed a degree in aviation which included an ATPL (Australia) and I hear she flies commercial for a major airline. Amazing ! Also, at my home airfield here in Melbourne, we had a 21 year old lady pilot flying a jump 206. Again, well done to you !
