It’s pretty wild that he said TCM doesn’t have motion, when he’s been around longer covering all kinds of things, and WTD has almost exclusively covered drama between K., Cole, and Drake. Just even saying “these guys don’t have motion” is an ignorant thing to say like motion is the only important thing.

There's a lot of overstepping and ignorance that was shown that a 16 minute video can't redeem in this matter. I don't blame a lot of people if they choose not to forgive and forget. That's not to say that no one is beyond redemption, but he backed himself into a corner with every step he took. Taking each step with a lot of audacity and gumption. He's going to have to move different and show he means it. Talk is cheap at the end of the day.

@@WeAreAllThings That is an extremely simplistic view. As a biracial man myself, let me try to explain it. The difference has much to do with how they were both raised, how Aubrey uses his blackness as a benefit to his career rather than something he naturally identifies with, and how blackness/the culture shapes/frames his worldview. Although his white mother raised him, J Cole grew up in a primarily black community where most of his friends were black. He has deep connections to his blackness, battling discrimination, and rising up from the poverty that plagues portions of the community. It goes well beyond race and The Off-Season spoke a lot about this. Most mixed ppl will tell you they naturally go through a bit of an identify crisis growing up, and will tell you how they reconciled the differences. In the end, for me, everything about Aubrey seems so inauthentic whereas with J Cole it's the opposite.

There are so many examples of that! White and Black kids grow up together more now than they ever have. A huge percentage of white people listen to hip hop. Look at the concerts. The word is said at least every other bar. You're not going to skip it when listening to these songs on a regular basis. You'll get desensitized to it just like we did! These labels don't care bc it's black people. There is no freaking way they'd let them say spic in a song. Hell my comment might be censored for putting it here. 2PAC broke it down like this.... Never Ignorant Getting Goals Accomplished. Now if that was truly happening, I wouldn't care who says the word.

No. Don't abolish the word. We need to know who says it within the context they say it in so we know who the ignorant among us are. Idk if you've ever watched _Inglorious B@stards_ but the character played by Brad Pitt asked every captured not see if they would take their uniforms off, and all of them said "Yes! I will burn it too" that's when Pitt's character says "That's the problem. I wish you couldn't take it off. So we would know who you REALLY are". He would then engrave their symbol of hate on their forehead. To let it be known who the people spreading hate and propaganda were.

He crashed out acting as if Justin was beneath him, calling him "homie", stupid etc , say8ng he was a clout chaser and did not know him. Only to turn arround , after receiving so much backslash, to say that he was hurt by Justin's critics because he looked up to him. Dude, which is it? The things he said about and to Justin were so gross, and reeked of racism. I can't give him a pass.

I disagree with your reasoning for not using the word. It should have nothing to do with other races not being able to use it. If YOU find it offensive, that’s one thing. Lots of black ppl do, as you stated in the video. I’m tired of other races not having to learn how to be left out of certain things. We always cater to how they feel. We are the only race, that will alter what we do, just for the comfortability of others. I don’t care if they consume the music more, or not. Even children are taught that everything they participate in, isn’t going to always be centered around them. The truth is, ppl don’t want to be told anything by black ppl, so they would rather no one say the N word, so they don’t have to. It doesn’t have to make sense to them. They aren’t going to understand why we would want to say it. No one has ever died from a little bit of awkwardness and discomfort. The debate over the N word is old, and will probably never end, but it’s one ONLY BLACK PPL deserve to have, because we endured the pain, suffering, and death associated with it. If you aren’t black, and you’re hellbent on using the word, that’s fine. You better understand cause and effect, though.

Couldn’t have put it better myself. I cringe everytime I hear the argument that other races feel left out of using the word. Other races don’t even want to be black, they want what we create. Always will and always have.

After watching Monie’s video she did on this. His apology really doesn’t mean anything because now there’s a few more things he needs to apologize for besides what he said about Justin. Matt was reaching out to her as someone to kind of help him and get feedback and she had actually done some research on the allegations that kindred hit that girl and she actually had proof that that didn’t happen. The girl that accused kind of doing that was six hours away at the time. so she told him don’t put that in your video it’s not true. You’re going to ruin your reputation if this comes out and people won’t believe you anymore. So he had that information, but willfully chose to not only not put it in his video, but to lie and go the other direction with it then he took a clip of Monie from weeks before when she complemented him in one of his videos videos and put it at the end of that video to kind of make it look like she cosigned the family matter. But then after all the backlash, he started calling her a hater and shit. Like dude you knew the truth and you lied about it to try to make Kendrick look bad and try to make Drake look better than he was. On top of the “Carlton Banks” thing he kept calling Justin he now is saying he didn’t mean it in a bad way. He meant it as he was straight edge. No he didn’t because every time he called him he in a derogatory manner.

See, I was going to give homie the benefit of the doubt on misspeaking, but his response is one of the worst ways to come at the situation. "I did not mean that Drake's family definitively uses the word, I meant that it was likely Drake's father's side of the family used the word" would be the appropriate response. Nothing more, nothing less. Jumping to aggression and toxicity because you were rightly called out give off "incel" vibes
@LikeACrouton
@LikeACrouton 6 күн бұрын
Exactly. Idk about the "incel vibes" thing, but talking down to Company Man like that for no reason was out of pocket. No apology undoes that, it just is what it is at this point. He may have misspoke in the initial song review, but he meant what he said with that "I can tell" comment.

Interesting. I'm a 53-yr-old white disabled teacher with degrees in English and history who grew up in the South but in a military family and have taught English to international students in mixed classes. I don't know what your analytics do with me and the essays I write, but I do find different perspectives more stimulating than just filter bubbles and echo chambers. Your journey with Eminem and reaction videos have been a helpful way to get through spinal surgery and stroke complications in the spring making for a hard summer. I heard family, friends, strangers, store clerks/cashiers, and even birds say the "N" word, but I was taught NOT to do so by my mother. In the military (especially after integrating but before most people came from neighborhoods that were mixed a few decades back), the troops would all have the different words, terms, and jokes; but the majority melded over that process of giving each other a little ish--at least the enlisted types we had, which admittedly is different to officers. You have to figure out if you can trust the guy next to you to do what has to be done for the highest number possible to come out of combat alive. If you don't ever throw some of that into interactions, a lot of troops say they kind of worry about knowing who they can REALLY trust when the time comes, like knowing it's better to pick Jones and not Wilson taking point on patrol. Then the NOT hard racists and prejudiced ones get beyond that and start seeing each other just as "green" or "khaki" with affection in nicknames and things. As the saying goes, nobody ever yells anything about color before the word "MEDIC!" With families, though, my mother said it's different. We needed to be more respectful of everyone because you don't go through quite the same experience and can spend time behind closed doors even living in post or base housing, but you have to be able to make friends quickly and also be able to holler for support when emergencies occur. Most of the time it's something like movers don't come and you've got no way to cook or the childcare fails. My mother was 7 months pregnant and had a five-year old in West Germany when the Soviets rolled into Czechoslovakia and no one knew if they were stopping so had to start sorting out supplies and who rides vs. drives in the evacuation convoy cars as you leave your husbands knowing they're on that border and about to full on take it in the teeth if those tanks keep coming! It's two completely different approaches, but once you inculcate language into your vocabulary that becomes second-nature to you, it's very hard to change that. I like the move to less divisiveness, but language just doesn't shift quickly or at all if no one is keeping it out at the adult level with kids!

I remember hearing that word for the 1st time in kindergarten (1979) and asked my gmother what that meant. She said that it was an evil word that satan created to divide people , and we (Our Family) do not ever use. She learned that from her dad, my great grandfather. He was alive during Darwinism and the creation of the term “race”.

But I think his broader point is that the primary audience for breakdown videos in general are middle schoolers or that teen age range. That’s not who he’s making the videos for, but that’s the demographic that’s most likely to watch them. I think he was implying that, because they’re creating the same types of videos, they’re going to have a similar demographic.

Real Man/Dad Shit, I assure you he's proud beyond comprehension of you, Stevie!🙏 I was waiting to see if others in the community would address, I watched Curtis👑 hr and 45 min addressing the initial situation, and only reason I went down the rabbit hole was cuz I was already aware WTD had issues with CliffBeats and cut up footage of Cliff to paint an in accurate narrative, TY Stevie for getting to this amd weighing in. Don't Fall Victim To Your Own Hubris is gonna go down in Content Creator Lore As The MIIS....Ya Know You Don Fucked Up Right? Does it need to be ALL one side of the family for the comment to be correct? If you go to a birthday party and N word is fying around the room, it's a fair comment, surely? Why does such a comment need to be proven correct for 100% of half a man's family? If you want to debate at that insane level, you need to make that clear. No sane human argues that way.
