Never seen the world loose hope on a project at the exact same time before

I liked the “lost in translation” background. Very apt.

To be fair, I'm probably reaching based on these quotes, but man, I am concerned. I hope it ends up being well made and I will update when after the show comes out.

I sometimes get the feeling the fandom took the "the movie doesn't exist" joke too far and just kind of forgot to be skeptical about live action adaptations. At least this one actually *looks* good. Witcher always looked like a SyFy Channel series.

They turned a facial burn scar into a black eye. I’m just- how does someone take the M Night Shyamalamadingong avatar movie, look at it, and go, “let’s do that but MORE”

The Netflix producer pronouncing Aang like in the movie is spot on. I'm a lot more excited about the upcoming animated shows by Avatar Studios.

Yes! Can't wait for the new animated shows.

Can't wait for the Spongebob adaptation that's exactly like Game of Thrones. We are living in an eternal South Park episode.

I'm still stoked to watch it but i've felt my excitement shift from joy to curiosity? (Reeeally trying hard to remain optimistic) Do you know if it's dropping all at once or week to week?
@DavidDecero9 ай бұрын
Yeah, pretty much same. I believe they're dropping all at once.

Update 2/22/24: I just finished bingewatching and here are my thoughts. - This is a good and faithful enough adaptation. - I have complaints (dialogue, exposition dumps, minor story changes.), but they're all pretty nitpicky. - Good amount of emotional bits that landed and that's usually the most important thing to me. - Fun and worth watching. - Of course the original will always be the best.

Update #2 2/23/24: So I just rewatched the first two episodes of the animated series for the first time in a while... oh man. The animated is as great as I remember it being. It made me realize pretty quickly where the live action messes up. Live action is missing: - Aang's joy and confidence. A great contrast to the moment he's honest with himself and has to face his destiny head on. - Uncle Iroh's strength and presence, in the live action he's just sad. - Katara's strength, confidence, and ability to take care of others. She's a little timid in the live action. - Sokka's sexism. It's such a great contrast to how he is later in the show. Live action doesn't have that. Exposition - In the animated series there was like 2 sentences of dialogue about water bending that were clear exposition in comparison to the live action having 3 scenes of backstory to start the show. I maintain the live action is worth watching and fun enough, but man... the original show is still so much better in so many different ways. I really wish the would've have just kept it the same. #AvatarNetflix

I'm approaching this show as I do most adaptations: largely uninterested and highly skeptical. We've seen some very lousy adaptations lately (WoT, Halo, etc.), and I don't trust studios to get it right. Plus, in the case of Avatar, I don't see the point because we've already seen the real show, so why would I want to watch a watered down, less fun version of that? Live action for the sake of it certainly doesn't interest me that much. I also think it's risky adapting laterally within a medium like this, whereas the appeal of adapting a book to the screen is that we are now actually "seeing" the story take place, not just imagining it. With all that being said, I wasn't planning to watch it regardless of quality, but I do hope it's good because I don't like wishing for things to fail. However, I hope the failures of recent adaptations and the MCU are starting to provide lessons that might be taken to heart (doubtful when money is involved lol).

That's all fair tbh. I'm definitely more excited for the next animated installment created by the original creators over at Avatar studios.

Funnily enough, I think this is the first I've heard of them having a studio and working on new projects, so that is exciting news.

lol. Well, something good came from this after all. @@BrandonsWritingRoom
