PUBG still a classic, excellent game. Im been done with COD for years, Im 35 so ya COD phase is boring to me now after playing it for 20 years. @Real_MisterSir Жыл бұрын
I think the base clunkyness is good, it ads weight to your decisions and doesn't let you cheese your way out of bad decisionmaking. The one thing they could improve is fluidity of movement and game physics - so that your character has real momentum and weight to them - and add more options for pacing (not to the extend of games like Tarkov, but a casual version of that would be amazing). The gun feel is probably what PUBG does best. Weapons have recoil, weight, good fire rates, and don't feel utterly artificial like they do in COD. Also while TTK is low, the handling of weapons means you don't just laserbeam down people like in Warzone, where TTK is actually higher but you can more consistently hit vastly more shots at high pace without negative impact on aim and bullet trajectory etc. I think the perfect PUBG sequel would be like this: 1. The core gameplay template is just what PUBG already does. No buybacks, no cheese mechanics, no Gulags and other bs mechanics that let people escape the consequences of their actions. 2. Updated visuals (like basing it on UE5 capabilities) with weather cycles that are both immersive and also alter the gameplay for a more varied experience. 3. More environment destruction (akin to Battlefield, to a slightly lesser degree) so that you have impact on the surroundings and can shape the match according to your decisions and fights. Imagine rocking up to a compound and seeing multiple buildings with shattered facades, garden walls riddled with bullet holes, and massive holes in the ground from various explosives - and a thick smoke still lingering in the air. The firefight that may have happened many minutes ago, will still shape the environment and experience long after the fighting is over. 4. A non-linear zone. Depending on the map, it could either be a toxic gas, a radiation leakage, a frosty blizzard, or a fiery volcanic ash cloud descending on the map - and the effects increasing the further into the zone you get. There could be items that help you maintain a degree of fightworthiness such as oxygen masks, insulated clothing, toxicity/decay counters, temp gauges, etc. More items that help you sustain your gameplay experience within layers of the zone - and in the end the map is entirely engulfed. The current binary circles with fixed damage rates are good for simplicity, but also very consistent meaning they offer little gameplay variety and nuance. 5. Partial progressive map generation, where certain regions of the map have progressively generated content depending on some specified variables. This could be density of city zones, types of building spawns, types of loot, vegetation type, rock formations, water streams, and so on. While the base map is fixed, having zones with progressively generated content means that no match will be exactly the same, and you get a higher reward for exploring your options instead of just instalocking your drop zone every round and knowing exactly what to expect going in.

Find it much more enjoyable than cod these days. Much more thinking involved and it's a better pace. Plus knowing when you die it's permanent makes every engagement tense.
@Real_MisterSir Жыл бұрын
Especially the aspect of truly fighting for space and location means a lot more. In Warzone in typical COD fashion you just run around and pretty much can run-n-gun your way to end game, and there's little incentive in fighting for good positions because so many cheese aspects can bail you out of a pinch. You died? A team mate can buy you back. They have no money? Just win a duel in gulag. You lost your gear? Just buy it back. You had to give up your position? Just use any of the 20 cheap ways to jump, fly, parachute, etc your way back. People track each other, have ez minimaps for scouting, all sorts of side quests, constantly something fighting for your attention and leading you away from the overarching goal - and in the end it all blurs together and nothing is ever truly memorable. And unlike in Warzone, in PUBG your downs and kills have true impact and consistency. If you get a guy, that's one less obstacle between you and your goal, thus it's worth fighting for every inch, and being methodical since enemies will be doing the same instead of running around guns blazing like cats with 9 lives. And having downtime between engages lets you regroup, strategize, and evaluate the bigger picture rather than only ever experiencing tactical momentum. When you win in Pubg, you actually feel like you went on a journey, with each phase having its own distinct memories and events that you can recall and be fond of. In Warzone it's just one big sandbox of a shooter full of headless chicken running around aimlessly.

I had so many good memories with my friends playing PUBG. Unfortunately most people rather play warzone and though I do enjoy it I only enjoy it from a social aspect. And frankly I’m normally not a multiplayer kind of guy. The games I used to play multiplayer solo and genuinely worked hard to be a competitive player no longer make good games. For instance battlefield and halo were my top 2 that I actually cared about and considered playing pro so I would practice for hours so that I could one day. Anyways I haven’t had that kind of drive since PUBG AND I enjoyed the social aspect as well. Everyone in my city, all my peers, colleagues, co-workers etc. we’re either playing fortnite or H1z1 luckily I managed to get my friends into PUBG. It’s definitely going to be a game that will have a ton of nostalgia as we get older, I want to say my collective experience, with solo play, social play with my friends, the competitive aspect, but also the fun aspect, all of it collectively was pretty close to the Halo 3 era.

Had a ton of fun with this game back in 2016-2017 but I quickly stopped playing because I felt the game never really evolved enough. They did add some new weapons here and there and added new maps but the game still feels the same which for some can be a good thing but I feel with BRs they need to shake things up to keep players interested, that's why Fortnite is still the juggernaut that it is. Also ive always hated the floaty movement in this game lol.

I see what you mean. Probably nostalgia talking but it was nice to play a watered down classic BR and not a game that felt like it was forcing content to remain relevant.

I think the game staying the same would have been a good thing, if it was an AAA production. But it wasn't, there were many flaws, shortcuts, compromises, and glaring quality issues as well as not being up to par from a visual pov either. It's not bad in any regard, but it isn't industry leading in any aspect either, which means everything feels aged rather quickly once competitors step up their game. All I can say is that PUBG had (and still has) the most potential out of any battle royale shooter, but they chose to do nothing with it. The gameplay experience, despite new weapons, gear, and maps, is still fundamentally the same beta test experience of 2016. Back then it was great because everything was novel, but this game truly deserves a sequel that brings it to true 2023 standards. Better animations and character control Upgraded visuals (imagine if it was UE5 based :o) Better physics Better landscapes/environment with higher degrees of destruction (also easier to do now with engines like UE5 and similar) Better VFX and sound for true immersion An evolution of the gamemode itself (improved concept of "the zone", etc) Some other games of its time like Ring of Elysium actually did a lot to try and innovate on PUBG's base template, with fairly great success I'd say. RoE's concept of a heli extraction is actually amazing, because it gives an objective to fight for and also means you can actually cooperate for a mutual victory instead of the binary "kill or be killed" scenario. Adds variables and thus more nuanced gameplay experience. And RoE's "zone" being non-circular and asymmetric in its progression makes it less game-fied where you can't just go for averages and predict expected outcomes, but instead are forced to constantly think and adjust your decisions on the fly. These concepts are by no means perfect, but they are proof that the template itself can be evolved beyond the simplistic nature of "follow circle and be the only one left alive".

The game takes you back to a time when games were simple. You can have fun with your friend while playing the game and also chatting about things in general, which makes up for a really good time. The glory days are long gone but the game still holds up really well in terms of gunplay, sounds and overall mechanics as you talked about in the video.

The PUBG store has always been one of the worst in the industry. There is no reward for grind, the content cycle is very lackluster and the items are half assed to the point where I wouldn't want to get paid to use half of it. The introduction of excessive reliance on bots is so destructive to the game. It always feels bad and only caters to ultra casual players who think shooters are scary. Bots are one of the main reasons I don't come back to the game anymore. It has taken the last drop of reward away from the experience. It used to be that matches presented extremely varied encounters throughout the whole phase of a match, and if you made it to top 10 or even fought to become a finalist, you would have a real story to tell afterwards (even if you didn't win). But now with so many bots, 90% of encounters are meaningless, unmemorable, and getting top 10 is not an achievement, now it just comes down to who gets the best circle and came across best loot. The early and mid stages have no meaning anymore. The game itself has had minimal quality of life changes or updates, despite having existed for over 6 years. The game has not evolved visually or gameplay-wise in over 6 years, it's almost as if the devs just left the game after year 1, and only added a couple of duplicate items and some maps. The gameplay experience was novel when it released, and the visuals were minimalist but effective for gameplay at a base level. But today, the fact that they seemingly have spent none of their profits on improving the game over time, is sad. It's sad that one of the most successful games in Steam's history was just left to rot away with only a couple of band-aids and quickfix solutions. Game feels like it's been on life support for years and the devs don't have the guts to bring it back to full function, but also don't want to kill it off because it still makes money. And that's even without mentioning the mobile side of it, which is probably the by far largest profit producer for the past couple of years. Idk, to me, after having put nearly 2k hours into the game in its first couple of years, and then coming back to it briefly once or twice a year or so, all I can say is that it feels utterly stagnated, and the gameplay experience is worse than it was at launch, and the entire industry has moved forward while PUBG is left in a half-broken state riddled with bots and cheaters and devs who have zero vision nor ambition for the game/franchise. I wish they would just let it die off naturally and focus on making a proper sequel to bring back the magic of release PUBG, in a state that is befitting of 2023 standards. They could totally re-enlighten the industry of battle royales. Their competitors haven't really done much in terms of evolving the gameplay, they've just been riding the boring live-service formula for ez money (Fortnite and Warzone and Apex especially). But there still isn't any game truly like PUBG, that caters both to relative casuals and tryharding alike. There is so much potential for them to pursue, yet they choose to do nothing. Massive waste of potential, that's all I see when I look at PUBG today.

I'd really love to get back into PUBG, but I pretty much exclusively game with friends (and none of my friends are as good at shooters as I am) so I inevitably end up in squads with 2 dead teammates who either have to sit out the rest of the match or we have to fast-track back to the lobby. I know a bunch of people hate the idea, but squads in particular really needs some sort of high risk buyback mechanic for dead players, since it's so easy to down and kill someone in one spray. It's just not fun to play with a full team because people always end up sitting out

@Real_MisterSir Жыл бұрын
No the game really doesn't need any buyback. That's exactly what makes the experience good, that you know your actions have true impact. Yea it sucks if one or two players in your squad go out early, then you just adapt and either commit or go next. But the one thing making the experience worthwhile when you DO succeed, is exactly the fact that you don't get to come back from the dead. Getting downed is more than enough for players to maintain a fighting chance against rng and unlucky encounters. And if your friends aren't good with shooters and need buyback options to enjoy the experience, then you go play Warzone instead - as that's literally the entire reason that game exists and is popular. It's easy, it's more cheese, it's less punishing, and it's more consistent action with fewer consequences to the experience. The one thing PUBG has going for it, is impact and weight of your actions. Don't take that away, it's the only thing holding this game together.

PUBG mobile has a recall feature on every map that gives every player an extra life during the match so if you die your teammates can bring you back but to get to the recalls you have to go to specific locations on the map and you never know if another team is already there trying to recall or camping it so even if you get there chances are you're gonna have to fight to use it and in the very late game recalls get turned 📴

You said it yourself, it's a running simulator, and you had tons of fun with it? How do people enjoy these boring running/looting BR games?💀

I am not a fan of games like valorant, fortnite, it feels too gimmicky to me. PUBG is the best for a casual player like me. Maybe the movement is something that could be improved imo but its alright. The realism, awesome guns and overall rawness of the game I would say are top notch. Competitive players and streamers losing interest in PUBG does nothing, some of us out there still love it.

i think for the NA population is that a lot of the QOL updates came too little too late, this game was 40 dollars i want to say until like 2019 or 2020, and by then Warzone, Fortnite, Apex all came out and just stole the thunder of this game. its a shame but it is what it is.

I play pub on console it’s 3 bouts in my lobby. And none on ranked. You have to get to level 75 to get taken out of not lobby. And if anyone level 500 I bet they have had KD with very little wins.

What? Is it dead on console? I see many players there

Doesn’t PUBG predate H1Z1? I mean it was a mod for Arma 3 first before H1Z1 came out? Which also was a mod for Day Z if I remember correctly which Day Z started out as a mod for Arma 3 😂. Basically what I’m trying to say is wasn’t PUBG first? 😂 ARMA has to be unintentional one of the most influential shooters definitely the most influential of the 2010’s. Anyways my understanding of battle royal was when hunger games came out, it started a big battle royal craze. But I think it wasn’t until the 2nd or third that it peeked and that’s when we started to see mods on Minecraft. Then from Minecraft mods to Arma 3 mods. Then those mods influenced every subsequent shooter to this day. Which naturally they came out as their own games

You're going against LVL500 players because you're playing on CASUAL with those people that suck absolute ass in this game. Play ranked, you'll still get a full player match that still has the same gameplay and feeling as 2017 PUBG.

Game became trash after it got free. I stopped playing because of team killers was increased. I got back on two months ago and every other game it's still happening. Today I quit because it's still happening. So upsetting that the matching is trash. Why even bother putting lvl 1 & 2 with lvl 4 reputation?
