Rory is known as the best guitarist you've never heard of. His live performances blew people and other bands away. IIRC, his birthday is 3/2, so the timing was fabulous. He didn't have a playlist for a concert and Gerry McAvoy, the bassist, said he never knew where Rory was headed in a song.

Great reaction! Rory was a force of nature on stage and you need to check out more of his catalog. Try "Calling Card" from his 1976 Hammersmith Odeon performance or "I Wonder Who" from his 1984 Belfast show. Rory was well known for improvising live-the whole section about Al Capone was off the cuff.

Nothing like Rory performing live. It simply doesn't get any better. SlumminAngel is right - there's so much of Rory to discover. Thanks for a great reaction and keep on...
Glad you enjoyed your first experience with Rory. There are a lot of great videos of his performances on YT. Nice hat btw. First time I saw Rory was the at the Baltimore Civic Center, 1973.

Rory was a shy humble Irish guy. But when he hit the stage he turned into a beast. I saw him in 1972 at a huge all day open air rock festival in North Carolina, lots of very famous bands but he blew them away. I will never forget him. A fantastic entertainer who connected immediately with the crowd.

Thanks for your great comments. It really makes me joy. I know this number for a longtime but never saw this video. Very special to see and hear. Rory was such a great musician and singer.

I’m so happy you’re bringing Rory back for a new generation. Hendrix when asked what it felt like to be the greatest guitarist said you should ask Rory and Terry Kath. Check out Chicago live at Tanglewood. The guitar was a toy in his hands, and I loved his voice.

Its pronounced Gall a her not Gal a grrrr, sick of everyone getting his name wrong. Please take note this is coming from an Irish Rory fan 🇮🇪

Rory was asked by John Peel if his name is said Gallaher, Rory then said Gallagher. Peel then said "OK please yourself". This can be heard on Taste box set I'll Remember on the track Railway And Gun. I'm also Irish, not that means anything and there are many accents in Ireland.
