Nice guitar! I had a Gibson Custom Shop 61 reissue with the slim taper profile neck. I had to sell it because life just sometimes sucks. I don’t think I’ll ever be in a position to get one again but if I could, I would get another in a heartbeat.

The secret to non-wire ABR-1 back in the olden days, was once you had it setup, a dab of shellac will keep the saddles and screws in place. Shellac is nice, because it easily cleans off with alcohol.

Get ultra light. No dings still better feeling lacquer. My ‘23 ml 355 is the best sounding/playing guitar I’ve ever touched, and I’ve played a Lot of guitars. My ml r9 honestly fights for play time now. Still looks new, (*if they do the aging right) lacquer checking doesn’t have any of those long ugly checking lines, just micro-checked like real vintage lacquer. Can’t see it unless it’s against the light. Google a few real 59 ES guitars ull see what I mean. They def won’t all be like that but they do exist. These recent ones really are pretty special. Cheers!

Salutations Austin! Very nice ‘58 Reissue ES-335, I especially like the lack of binding on the neck and no fret nibs, 15:54 however, I am with you, I would rather have the option of not having it aged by the Murphy Lab at an extra premium price, it would be much better to me to have it just like a brand new guitar and have it age naturally, I tend to take fairly good care of my guitars, and I definitely rather save the extra $1500 dollars for them to leave it alone. It sounds great, as is, but if someone wants different pickups, there are so many options available to suit just about anyone, personally, I might prefer the’57 Classic set, but there might not be much difference in sound quality, however, the newer versions with four (4) conductor wires do offer the option of coil splitting, however that also requires having it custom wired, which is what I would prefer to spend extra expenses on, more bells and whistles, not on premature aging. Thanks for sharing! Please have an excellent and awesome day! ☀️✨🎸

I have one of those dreaded 2015 gibsons, a studio, it's so badly made the neck wasn't cut correctly, it was sliced diagonally which mean the tuners don't line up. It's the most vibrating guitar I've played, I've kept it over a 90s standard and a 2010 custom , it just sounds great, it's so badly made that about every month I have to lossen and tighten the truss coz it vibrates in the neck... the guitar is a real pain but it is one that I won't sell.

I can see the Murphy Lab is getting better in aging but, somehow the shine on the lacquer doesn't look quite right yet, could just be that VOS gunk throwing it off or on it or it's still a bit too shiny, kind of missing the 'eggshell' vibe if you know what I mean. The amber switch tip is Catalin and is what the 50's Gibson's came with. The white switch tip didn't arrive until mid-1960. The amber (Catalin) switch tip is correct for '58 and is what I would have any '58 RI of mine. The Catalin ones are machined and have no casting lines.

I love the optional switch tips and usually prefer the ambered tip. But I agree the clean tip looks better on this ms guitar. Thanks for playing some Ziggy Stardust for us I'll be on my latest Studio I purchased after seeing it hear . No doubt plugged into the Spark 40 with the gain about 3 quarters the way up. Oh what and I'll have to also relearn that Allman brothers tune also. Who knows maybe Trogs could learn a little Eric Carmen and the Rasberrys as a tribute . Hint hint. Best bet for getting a highly resonate guitar first of all seek out models that are commonly resonate and try as many as you can before you pick one out.

@hippiebiker33999 ай бұрын
If you’re a collector then it makes sense to get something as close to the original as possible. But as a player, it’s not cost effective and practical. We play what we can afford and like, knowing it’s gonna take a beating over time. There’s room for both worlds.
@Joey_McElroy9 ай бұрын
😂😂 hilarious comment, but sadly so true, $1500 to have some keys and a railroad spike dropped all over it 😂. I’ve got a factory aged R8 from 2014. I will say they have gotten better over the years. I love aged guitars, I hate how much more expensive they can be. I always wanted an R8 and came across the one I’ve got at Dave’s Killer Vintage in Dallas, for basically the same price he had on some non aged custom shop Les Paul’s. So I took the jump. Plus the guitar played like butter and sounded even better. I’ll never sell it. For an R8 it has a monster top rather than the usual plain top. I do have a 2004 335 in tobacco burst. It’s absolutely incredible!! Has some checking now, not much. But has some, the clear coat on the headstock has the most minor yellowing going on…it’s 20 years old this year. Im a Gibson fan boy, I just wish these prices would come down. I’m planning on buying a Theodore USA run soon in natural. Hopefully maybe Jimmy Wallace booth will have some for sell at the Dallas Guitar Show coming up in early May. If so, I’m going to try to snag one that weekend. If not, or they don’t have any, as soon as Sweetwater gets restocked, I’m going to grab one from them. Had Trogly not already done a review on the new USA version, I’d love to NGD one on the channel. Maybe a guitar one day!
