Shoutout to all the people that drag a new track in a Folder but because of how fiddly Reaper is, they crate a new subfolder into the folder.

@@syncronized_entity and have steady hands, cause even when that line appears, its not uncommon to move the mouse a bit when letting go of the mouse button hold. In any case, not a dealbreaker of course.

@@nectariosm idk how recent they added this, but there's an option to only create folder while dragging when pressing shift.

Whew! I was starting to worry about how I could possibly control ~32 MIDI tracks, being bussed to 2 different laser projectors + video + stereo. No probs! With Reaper's folders, I'll soon be the Super Laserist Hermit!! WooHoo! 🤪

So is there any situation where using send buses is preferable over using folders? Any difference in CPU usage for instance?

I was wondering this… I like the visual element of folders compared to sends tbh, it’s really easy to see what is being categorised as what. I’ve got a submix as the actual mix bus f.e.

Hey Kenny. What are the actual differences between folders and busses in Reaper? I have been using folders as busses forever and want to make sure that’s not wrong. In example, I “bus” all of my drums to a folder and affect it as a drum bus. Is this wrong? Love what you do.

Folders are just fancy busses that help a bit better with organization, it's not wrong just a different way to achieve the same thing.

Is it my impression or does making folders, assign whatever CPU load the tracks within the folder track require, to a single core of the computer's CPU?

That’s what I was thinking. It seems it manages the CPU load down to each respective track group folder to all tracks within therefore to a single core? So I felt this was a CPU management tip. Not 100% though I will test.

First thing I noticed was: "My Theme - I believe" does not show the "Folder" icon. I have not tried changing to the default theme. But the mouse hovering over that spot does show the "+" icon and clicking cycles through the options. Just wanted mention that due to the confusion it could cause if you are kinda new to REAPER.

my folders work as expected but they look empty. in your case, you just create them and you see a waveform summary. for me, it's empty for some reason. i can't find an option to change this. any idea?

oh ok if you mute tracks, they are removed "real-time" from the waveform lol
