I would recommend to use the default plugins for the default effects chain because they are very CPU efficient. Putting CPU heavy plugins in default effects chain will bog down your PC because each new track has instances of these plugins. Also better stick to your favorite plugins, as adding many different plugins will significantly increase the loading time of the project.
@sammythebull1162 жыл бұрын
Reaper handle big 3th party plugins like a boss!!💪 I can load big plugin 80x in reaper and many headroom left, the same plugin loaded in cubase 20x its game over 3th party plugins sounding much better as stock plugins no matter what daw you use
@lolilollolilol77732 жыл бұрын
@@sammythebull116 "3th party plugins sounding much better as stock plugins no matter what daw you use" That's objectively and subjectively false in many situations, unless you want to add some sort of distortion, in which case you can (and probably should) use a separate plugin for that. The stock EQ and compressor will do fine for most real world correction situations. Dan Worrall has made many videos on the subject on his channel and the Fabfilter channel. You should watch them. The 3rd party plugins have a use for adding a character to the sound. But if all you want is correct the audio (which should be your first mixing step and is what the FX chain should be for), the stock plugins can do the job perfectly.
@sammythebull1162 жыл бұрын
@@lolilollolilol7773 i try this many times Boosting the same freq in expensive equalizers give a smooter bigger warmer sound The same ratio and so on give also the same bigger better warmer sound Boosting 4db 40hz on fabfilter nothing happened Boosting 40hz on a maag eq my studio is bouncing And so on and so on
@wannenburgwannenburg36952 жыл бұрын
@@sammythebull116 Of course using character EQs will sound different to using a purely digital EQ. Maag EQ is for super broad tone shaping but it wouldn't be appropriate for most EQ uses

Kenny. Any interest in doing a quick vid using Ueberschall Elastik with Reaper? you can get the player and the factory pack for free. Something like just a setup and recording audio as well as midi from the program into Reaper. Just curious. Thanx again for all you do for us.
@ALFREDsurfer082 жыл бұрын
Very nice and quick way, it seems. Thanks! But I cannot help worrying that this would be using a lot of unnecessary RAM right from the start? Even though this way of preparing is nice, would it not be degrading performance very quickly if you are working with a lot of tracks on a computer that is not so powerful?
@REAPERMania2 жыл бұрын
Mostly negligible depending on your computer and the plugins you choose. The REAPER ones take up almost nothing.
@electricwhiterabbit2 жыл бұрын
You can also set them up in offline mode so that when you need then, just put them online and you won't have to worry about the plugins taking up so much cpu power.

I would recommend to use the default plugins for the default effects chain because they are very CPU efficient. Putting CPU heavy plugins in default effects chain will bog down your PC because each new track has instances of these plugins. For example, don't put TDR Nova in a default FX chain. Use it only where necessary. Also better stick to your favorite plugins, as adding many different plugins will significantly increase the loading time of the project.

With heavy cpu ones, you can put them in offline state in your default so that they don't use any cpu until you put them in online state when you need them.

what do you think about the new MAC STUDIO!? it looks like a super beefed up mac mini!
@lolilollolilol77732 жыл бұрын
Yes it's a monster computer. I think the large majority of people don't need such a monster. If you are careful about the plugins you use (don't use heavy plugins in a default FX chain !), you can work on a fairly light computer with REAPER. I've been working with a 9 year old I7-4770 based PC and everything is fine. I don't work on very large projects with hundreds of tracks, but most people don't. If most of your projects are less than say 50 tracks, you are fine with an average PC, I'd say. OTOH, if you routinely work on 200 tracks orchestral stuff, then that's where you need this sort of power.

So I just need the Mac mini just for mixing and analog summing with the universal Apollo gear.
