Anna, keep doing videos like this. Really interesting. Like you said, everyone shows the typical tourist areas, but there are so many other communities to explore. Plus showing other communities helps those local businesses as well. Adding to my list of places to visit.

been bingeing seoul vlogs since this spring i'm going back to korea for the 1st time since i was 3 and i've loved your district tour vids so far!! i think my favorite part is that you give historical context to the origins of the area's culture and specialties, which is super unique from other videos i've been watching - trying to reconnect to my culture from America is difficult and i love learning more!!

Hi Anna, thank you for being a voice and unofficial educator of Korean culture to the global Korean diaspora worldwide. As you may know, many Koreans immigrated to western parts of the world to escape Korea's poverty, societal competition, and conflict back in the day. This led to Korean immigrants' children (2nd generation Korean westerners) to lose their sense of culture and ethnic identity. Your videos and other English-speaking Koreans are helping those 2nd plus generation Korean diasporas worldwide. Just wanted you to know that. :)

Wow my grandparents old neighborhood is booming. I used to visit them at their hanok home in the 1970s. Turns out they lived right next door to President Park's house. it's now an apartment building. I remember the dirt roads and the neighborhood farmer's market. I loved those days!

I used to go there a lot when I lived in Korea. I loved the family owned restaurants and cafés and brought many of my friends (American and Korean) there to introduce them to it before it was hip ㅋㅋㅋ. I can 100% vouch for the quality of the tteok-bokki they sell there

It's so funny finding your videos popping up in my recommended all the time! Feel so lucky that I was able to see you while in Korea! (Seoul really is tiny haha) I kept thinking from the beginning of the video that the street looked familiar! This was the area where I lived for a month five years ago! Sindang used to be known for tteokbokki and where mostly the construction workers and elderly resided, cool to see how the area has changed! Thanks for keeping up with the good content! :)

It's a pity you didn't film this video a few months ago, I was in Seoul (and then Busan) in September last year, a birthday treat to myself, stayed at the Travelodge City Hall hotel in Myeong-dong and had a wonderful time in Seoul (Busan not so much). I'm considering returning again in early October as I enjoyed it so much. While I was there I went to my favourite kpop group's (Dreamcatcher...have you heard of them Anna?) offices and considered stealing the welcome mat at the entrance but thought better of it 🤣.

I love how you can tell the difference between someone showing you a neighborhood because they want to make the video, and someone showing you because they are being paid to by a tourism entity. The content is so different. The real person walks around and checks out shops/ food, a little bit of history. It feels like what most people would do if they went themselves. The paid content has a LOT of history, (facts and figures thrown at you in long lists, )and showcases very planned activities involving stuff like rented costumes and tickets to things. It’s always refreshing to see a more everyday “if I lived here this is what I would do” locals experience. That’s what a lot of tourists really want anyway. 👍❤️

Great video.Seoul and Dublin have some similarities, high mountain nearby, north/south city devide, but Seoul wins in my opinion because there's just so much more available. I'm going to check my Seoul photos to see if I was in Sindang, I spent a month there in February and thought I had covered most areas...from the Irish bar and food trucks near Gangnam station to the alleyways near Namdaemun and Jongno 3. Would really love to start a English speaking cafe somewhere popular in Seoul, so that is my aim for the future....🤗🤗

This is my first time watching a video from your channel and I'm so impressed with your content from this one video! You packed in so many important details in just a ten minute video, my ADHD thanks you lol. I was engaged the whole time. I love the inclusion of facts about the area: popping in the visual maps of nearby areas, talking about the history, showing examples of what "original" Seoul vs "gentrified" Seoul looks like, also knowing to mention the real Asian history of what foreigners may think is the Swastika symbol on signs (very important!), mentioning the age groups you're likely to see in the area, comparing the culture between sindang and other neighborhoods. I could go on an on! You really nailed this video. Thank you girl! New subbie ^_^
