You two are doing us a great thing. If you need to vent or just act differently than you normally do, DO IT! You have to "VENT" to keep yourselves sane. This is the first time I have seen this channel, and never realized that the events/things you guys go through to bring us the videos were so, so, WOW! Whenever either of you need to, VENT. Here is good, but ANYWHERE is just as good. Nothing but GOOD LUCK, Good nthoughts and Positive energy coming to BOTH of you.

This channel is essentially a public diary. So negative experiences are going to happen eventually. But respect for sharing it with us. I'm sure it gets a little embarrassing when editing, but I hope you find it at least a little cathartic. Also...I'm from a small town outside of Rochester ny...it is so weird to see plastic bags from a grocery store. It's been 3 years. With the exception of restaurants, if a business is caught giving out plastic bags, it's up to a 2,000 dollar fine 😂
@brooksholttravels

That was the exact goal of this channel. To be able to separate the experiences in the mini golf videos, and actually show what it’s really like. So the good, and unfortunately the bad, will inevitably make it in. I questioned a lot whether I should’ve just cut all of this out of this vlog, but felt it needed to show the true reality of the day

I live in Michigan, and it was a miserable week that week. My a/c could not keep up, and I was cranky. People don’t respect Midwest humidity, but the lakes make us miserable above 90. We are not setup for it and tolerate it poorly. Everyone was angry that week. Sorry.

People today are increasingly more rude and ignorant. I just dealt with mega rudeness too. I was about to step out of the elevator when a group of people just stood there with their luggage blocking my exit and they were just so rude pushing their way onto the elevator hitting me with their luggage. So sorry you two had to deal with that BS. I love the videos and all that you and Elisha do. Regardless of what people think, it’s actually hard work. The constant travel and arrangements with the golf courses and the editing. I just got back yesterday from spending the week in Atlantic City and Ocean City in NJ. I want to thank you for posting all the golf courses you played there which I wasn’t familiar with. I had a blast and like Elisha my favorite course was the Haunted Golf course in Ocean City. Screw that area. Love you guys . Hugs 💕💕💕

I can give both perspectives on this one. I was born and raised (with a three-year window, which will come into play later) in Illinois. My dad's side of the family was from the southwestern Chicago suburbs. I've known some super-nice people from the Chicagoland area...and putting it mildly, I've known some real....you know what. Flip side - My wife is originally from Mississippi (the three year-window I lived elsewhere). She has said many times about the difference between people down South and people in the Midwest. Sorry you guys had such a hard time there. But keep up the good work...my dinner time consists of seeing what y'all are up to!!

Firstly. Make sure you drink a little more water when it's hot that will help you. Completely understand why you feel this way. We went to Auckland NZ and the people were rude and don't get me started on there driving manners. But we have had to go up the past few years and it's a more happy people and good driving. You also need a down day of nothing but vegging out no camera to decompress. And Elisha hon that girl was super jealous because you look fab and were happy. Keep your chins up and just carry on being you, ignoring the grumpy people. Let you sunshine out😊for those who may need it.

The Western Suburbs of Chicago, like Schaumburg you stayed, are definitely the nicer and more respectful part of the city. As soon as you get closer to the city, that’s when the culture changes. So as long as you went North/South/West of where you were you should be fine, not to say there aren’t great people closer to the city

I thought a lot about this video. My first thought was something along the lines of "Suck it Up", but then I tried to put myself in your shoes. And, in all honesty, when we are in the south, I find the over-friendliness of people a little off-putting at times. I have lived in the north in big cities my entire life. I am a nod your head and say "Hey" person in certain situations, and I find that it does get ignored about half the time. Having said that, I do have a Chicago persona where I ignore a people a little more. And, the north suburbs of Chicago are really bad for the stuff you were talking about. Although, you can't let a door closed in your face bother you for more than 30 seconds unless you get hurt. Now, I will say, if someone pulled that shit those people did on the mini golf course of jumping holes and cutting me off, words would have been exchanged.

Between the heat plus humidity (and lack of wind, ironically!), your experiences driving around the Chicago area, and what you are dealing with when it comes to people, it’s no wonder you both are frustrated at this experience. The only time I’ve seen this level of frustration was a course near St.Louis you played-what, two or three years ago?-that looked run down and not maintained, and eventually closed up six months after your video posted. Hang in there, try to have some fun while there.

You're 9 miles from where I stayed when I visited Chicago and yeah my experience was that people were generally rude. At one point I literally had money in my hand to tip a barman and he kinda tossed my drink down, turned and walked away before I could even give it to him. A guy in the hotel told me to take a seat and they would bring my food over, 10 minutes later I found it just sitting on the counter waiting for me to go collect it. I took a taxi ride and it was the worst of my life, I legit thought the guy was gonna crash into other cars because he was trying to pass everyone in a solid line of traffic. The trip overall was good because of the people I had gone there to meet but the place was just brutal.

I thoroughly enjoy watching you two travel and share your mini golf adventures. I'm sorry that you have not enjoyed your time in the northern part of the country. I made the joke to my hubby when I clicked on the video, "I wonder what he's complaining about today". LOL But as you explained what happened on the first mini golf course, I totally understood your frustration and I'm sure that your frustration level was still up when you encountered that guy going into the restaurant. I would've been the same way. But I will say that considering you two are in the age group of where my two children are, I want to offer you some motherly advice. The longer you live, the more you will realize that people are not going to love you like you love them. I'm not talking about romantic love. I'm talking about AGAPE love.....the love you show people around you when you smile and share a "hello" or hold a door for someone. BUT the one thing you don't let those people do is change who you genuinely are. I encourage you to just take a breath, remember who YOU are and that you don't need to lower your level of integrity and love for others because of how others act. Yes, sometimes we need to vent and continue to share.....the good, bad or otherwise. Hubs and I love watching you two. Keep the faith in humanity. We here in the south are waiting for your return! The south does seem like a much better place for, I guess, people. People just seem so much better and nicer, but it also probably has to do with the area. It’s why I love Minnesota, there aren’t any huge cities like Chicago, and people in Minnesota in general just seem nicer. I guess the south to you is like Minnesota to me. I hope you didn’t have a bad experience while you were there; when I watched the blogs it didn’t seem terrible but.. I have a friend from the south who lived for several years in the North (New England, actually) for a job he took. He mentioned the same kind of mannerisms you did. However, as my friend described it, they (northerners) don't consider it rudeness. It's just how they were raised. Being southerners, we don't understand the northern mindset, just as northerners don't understand the southern mindset. In fact, if a southerner going into a restaurant in the north held the door open for a northern person coming in behind them, they (northerner) would consider that offensive. So, I would say that if the northern personality is getting to you, then you may just want to make these videos in the southern states, as you said. I'm not being critical. I'm just stating things as they are.

Hey guys, you don’t need to apologize, I know exactly what you are talking about. I grew up in Northern Illinois 125 miles west of Chicago. I also lived in the Chicago suburbs for a few years. Illinois is a great place to be “from”! Will never live there again and haven’t been there for 20 years. I spent 18 years in Texas, great people there. Now I live in So Cal. I’m here only for the weather, golf, and retirement. Keep up the great videos. Try to ignore rude people.

You two are like the canaries in the coat mine. As the temperature rises, there will be more days that outside activity will be harder to do. If you are in an area where people are naturally pushy and aggressive, once the summer temperatures start to go over 110' Fahrenheit on a regular basis, the tempers of both individuals and groups will also rise. You folks play miniature golf in places that have a lot of concrete and plastic turf without any natural shade that makes the ambient temperatures higher then they would otherwise be. Even major league teams have had to adjust to adverse heat conditions, some of which those teams created for themselves. I remember how difficult it was for the St. Louis Cardinals to play on the high heat island of artificial turf 50 years ago during the hottest days of summer before climate change was even discussed. Considering the plight of both professional and amateur golfers, they seem to be able to perform well in 90-degree and even 100-degree Fahrenheit days, but I wonder how they will fare if the we start to see 110-degree and 120-degree Fahrenheit Temperatures on a regular basis, including areas that have never before experienced such heat. For that matter, will the average person be able to take a walk or go on a run under those conditions, could daytime track and field events be a thing of the past when even the athletes in the best condition could run the risk of heat exhaustion or a heat stroke. I am not a radical green environmentalist, but I am concerned that these constantly rising temperatures will adversly affect both the physical and the mental health of both active and sedentary individuals.

Have you two ever travelled to the Pacific Northwest? Not a ton of mini golf, but it’s pretty and the people are nice.

This is much like looking behind the stage at a comedy show. There are real world problems, that are sometimes overwhelming, behind the curtain. When the lights go on, no-one would ever know. I know in the cities, or most anywhere, if it's known for rude behavior the increase in heat seems to bring the rude up to another level. Also, dealing with heat like that you need to double the water you may usually intake, and severely limit caffeine. Energy drinks and such are dehydrators. Getting that light headed feeling is your body warning you it can't take much more. Shade and room temp water should be found asap. Don't lose your positivity, or you'll sink to their level. Be well, and stay safe.

Me from Chicago again. You are right. The culture is used to challange from each other, is openly judgemental. I live in an affluent area near the lake on north side, still 12 shooting victims involving grade/high school students & adults occured near me so far this year. We go to KW to feel safe.
