I regularly hired Statesmans' when working FIFO in 2008 / 2009. Great Car! They had a multivalve V6 (?) that gave them plenty of get up and go... I thought about buying one a couple of years ago.... went with a VF SSV Redline manual sedan and a trip to the performance shop instead. I once made the mistake of hiring a normal V6 commodore..that was in 2010...it was like flogging a tired horse compared to my VE manual SS sedan

My dad has a 2004 wk caprice with an ls1 in it that is pretty juiced up, 280kw to the wheels and 555 lb ft of torque, I really love the space in it, truly a muscle, luxury car.

The Grange is the top of the line. My Caprice is pushing 315kw with cold air, exhaust, and after-market tune. They have easy potential to go further with a few minor mods before running into any significant costs. Loads of rear leg room, a huge boot but the standard sunroof can be an issue if you're over 6" tall.

They offered these to law enforcement over here in the states. In fact I saw one patrolling the streets today, it's a shame they never offered these to the general public. It was great to hear you talk about LPG - it’s definitely the forgotten fuel that can save the combustion engine. Especially with petrol in Aus climbing back to over $2.20 per litre, it’s crazy people aren’t jumping on it. And availability is suffering because of it. Can’t recommend LPG enough - cheaper, cleaner, higher octane Australian made fuel.

yup i think it should be back personally
@je2338 Жыл бұрын
Lpg seemed to be fairly unique to Australia. When Ford and Holden made dedicated LPG cars (they were previously duel fuel) with liquid injection, the motors offered similar power figures to petrol. Prior to that on duel fuel, if you ran LPG there was a significant loss in power. Liquid injection was a massive leap forward which only came in the final generation falcon and commodore. Now, Overseas models don't have any interest in developing such technology solely for Australia.

Great review Johno.. I have this very car in Prussian Steel and I absolutely love it. At 6'6" tall and with multiple spine operations I need a comfy car as I can't handle bumps and firmly sprung cars and these things ride so beautifully it's a godsend for me. I had a WM Statesman and the interior upgrade in the WN is fantastic.. Just like you said I too find they sit quite flat cornering and yet ride so well and they go great when you let them sing.. One thing that always boggled my mind was that generally a 2/3 year old Calais V would sell for more than a Caprice V yet the Caprice got the beautiful LWB, DVD in the seats and HID's and even better was the fact most were owned by older people so getting one that has had an easy life was almost a given. ( excluding limo use of course) I picked mine up at the 'Gong South of Sydney for $27.5K with 33000 on it in 2018 and now with 136k on the odometer could probably sell it for around 30k which is fantastic..

If you want to see the Australian Cadillac, then look at the WB model Caprice. It definitely has Cadillac styling cues. You are right, the Statesman was the base model and the Caprice the top end model though the Statesman name was dropped in 2010. The LPG version was marketed to the premium taxi companies and I use to see them quite often in Sydney. The Australian market wasn't very big for selling the Caprice and the only reason Holden continued making them when the VE model was introduced was because they were popular in the Middle East. Because they were not really popular here, the resale was poor and it wasn't common for picking up a 3yr model half the price of a new one. Good that you mentioned the Grange but there was another model that you failed to mention and that is the PPV. That wasn't available here but was exported to the USA as a dedicated police vehicle. From what I have seen on KZbin, the secondhand ones are popular as they are a cheap way of getting a LS engine GM vehicle and they then get modified as LS modification parts are so readily available over there.

Me again. I have a 2017 Chevrolet SS/VF2 in the states. Forged built LS3 & Turbo. Almost 1500hp. Recently 6 months ago while my VF was at the shop getting work done I was iching for another Holden. So I got a 2011 Chevrolet Caprice 9C3/2011 WM. As you know we only got these are government cars over here. They were either a 9C1 which is the patrol cars that get beat on everyday or if you could find the more rare 9C3 which is the detectives car they had full interior and all the luxury like a normal Caprice in Australia. So I found a bought a 9C3. And it is now my daily driver. Has the 6.0 L77 in it. Super strong and reliable. When my VF comes back from the shop the car is go in for a fully built and forged L77 and LSA or a fully built 7.0 LS7. Idk which route I want to go yet. If I go go LSA then I will have all 3 boosted cars. Centrifugal supercharged Lexus and a turbo VF and a PD blower Caprice. Or if I go all motor bigger displacement . I just don't know yet. But both cars have been fully converted inside and out back to it original Holden routes. Did not cheap out on anything. The Caprice is still being worked on as of now. But will be completed soon enough. One day when I am fully done building both cars I will post a video of both on my channel. I am already thinking about buying a 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP/VE but a later model with the 6 speed manual and a LS3 instead of the L76. I think that will be my next car I want to build. My dream will be owning my VF WM VE next Manaro next Then possible working with Left hand utes over here and importing a wagon or GTS-R ute. So by the time I am done I will own all of my dream Holdens. Big big fan of Holden. Also I am a big fan of all cars really mainly Australian cars. Keep up the great work bro. Do a grange next! Also over here from 2011 to 2017 all the Caprice had a L77 and was Flex fuel capable. The fuel pump is from a 5th generation camero ZL1. So they are stout from the factory with all the good for boost if you wanted. So I'm sure your info is correct. We got it t From the 1st year to thr last year of the production all had e85 sensor.

They are a beautiful car but fall to pieces a lot quicker than the Fords.

It's funny how you call Cadillac cheaper than Euros compared with the past. The wb statesmen had to get permission from Cadillac to do it's design. I'd love to see the ct4 and ct5 blackwing here too. The basic suspension geometry on the ve and VF is related to the Cadillac CTS etc too.

Yes LPG works out heaps cheeper but the only downfall is loss of boot space as a result of having the LPG CYLINDER in there.

Mate great review 🙂 did you that in 1997 Cadillac brought out a Cadillac Fleetwood in/for Australia. Right-hand drive made just for Australia, :- well as far as I know anyway; it think the yanks called the one similar a Brougham, but the Fleetwood was a special. The one I looked at back in the day was at the Holden dealership in Windsor st Brisbane. It was $150,000 at the time. And was a 5.7L V8 that was 5.7 metres long. Sexy as fuck, but in grade 9 it was out of my price range lmao 😜

Always wondered how Cadillac would have done in Australia, it would have been interesting to see if they could have adapted Cadillac’s into Holdens if GM never left. This is very similar to something like a CTS-V
@RossReviewsau2 жыл бұрын
I reckon they could have gone one of 2 ways 🤣

I’ve got a WN2 with LS3 and love it. A fun feature is the heads up display shift light. If you have the HUD on cornering G force and manual shift gears, once revved above 4k the shift light will appear.

My mate had this model. We used to cruise around in it all the time. There not that nice inside, just roomy... He treated it nicely and it still needed constant trips to the mechanic and engine replaced before it got to 150ks. He said he would never buy another because it's not worth the costs
