i remember when machine wise first started makin balis for the most part, I still have his delta 5t and his delta 4(delta 5t aluminum? the precursor) when I flipped a serif for the first time, I was blown away, he has come so far from what he has begun with that if you put his first bali right next to the serif, you wouldn't think they were the same maker.

That is an issue with squids knives. They are VERY tight and not that easy to put back together once you take em apart. Quality is amazing don't get me wrong...but the fit is extremely tight. This does help with tolerances though.

Your description of the order fulfillment process as “most fair” echos what the website claims is the motivation for random order fulfillment, but it seems to be a confused conceptualization of “fairness.” The success of Machinewize in terms of demand will punish those who place orders since every person who orders decreases any one persons chance that their order will be filled. I imagine this is actually a gimmick that is somehow intended to keep order volume up until means of production are improved. Example: Will H. Makes quality videos because he has done the legwork necessary to learn about video production and as a result is “tuned in” to the video production industry in a way that others are not. When industry innovations hit the market, Will H. Is the first to hear about them and has the opportunity to purchase them first, which also means that first availability is awarded to Will and those like him. In this way, good resources are awarded first to those who are most competent to use them, and the quality of video available to the public increases rapidly. This is preferable to a system where Will H. Is the third person to place an order but has to wait a year because 1000 orders come in after him, among whom are people who are casual and occasional video recorders with money to burn who only heard about the product after news of it became more mainstream and appeared in targeted advertising. And so the improvement of video quality available to the public slows dramatically.
@agquagwisvquwgavwj2 жыл бұрын
15:00 i disagree, the selection system is flawed (and i own a serif) Somebody who signed up the day of the drop could be waiting a year or more for a serif while somebody who signs up today could get theirs tomorrow. Random isn’t always fair, especially since there’s a possibility of NEVER being drawn, as people who win a serif can sign up for another. Machinewise needs to address this issue.
@WillHirschFlips2 жыл бұрын
It's not always fair, but it's generally equally unfair to all
@WillHirschFlips2 жыл бұрын
Machinewise can't really make it any more fair until he is able to produce more knives, but right now it's not possible so that's the system we have
@agquagwisvquwgavwj2 жыл бұрын
@@WillHirschFlips What I mean by that is based on when you sign up you should be assigned a group, and then within that group the lotto is drawn. I discussed this idea with MW and he mentioned it was an option. All i’m getting at is if you’ve been waiting on the list for a serif since day one you should have a higher probability of getting one than someone who signs up today. Alternatively give people who have been waiting the longest two entries** so that they get an additional roll to be selected, and stop allowing people who have already been selected in the lotto from re-entering.
@agquagwisvquwgavwj2 жыл бұрын
@@WillHirschFlips I just talked to Deylan he said that people from all date ranges are selected when he draws winners from the lotto. IE people who have been waiting since the beginning are being drawn consistently, as are people who signed up recently. I think that’s fair.
@janus27732 жыл бұрын
@@agquagwisvquwgavwj one option would be getting an additional entry for each week you've been waiting/not selected. so someone who's been waiting 10 weeks would have 10 times the chance of getting a drop as the person who's been waiting for one week. myself i'm not a fan of randomness and i'd prefer if they just did shipping in order of ordering, but i think this could be a compromise
