I have a Dinghy as well and like it for cruising through the city (not campus, those times are long gone ;-) ) My feeling is that you are able to driving tighter curves with a cruiser compared to a longboard, which makes it more practical for me. Thanks for the video!
@OgdenSikel
@OgdenSikel 2 жыл бұрын
I definitely see what you're saying, as in mose cases cruisers are 100% easier for turning...that being said tho, There are def some longboards that are super carvy, it just depends alot more on the board type at that point...for example my drop throughs are kind of bad as far as turning goes, but my topmount dancer board is super good at carving and possibly better than my dinghy!

what would you pick for a college campus?
@LiefRunsFar
@LiefRunsFar 2 жыл бұрын
Longboards are also more manageable if your campus has skateboard parking and are better on hills. I'd take a cruiser if I had to take the board to class or campus is fairly flat.

Back in the day the college campus in my town was a choice skate spot with its stairs, curbs, retaining walls, and relatively smooth pavement, despite skateboarding being prohibited on campus. Like a lot of college campuses, this one is located on a hill so we would park a car in a lot at the bottom of the hill. If security showed up would signal each other and make a quick downhill dash to the car.

I never use my electric board because it’s too heavy and I’m limited to like 10 miles which just sucks. Maybe I’ll use electrics more when they start having 100 mile range hahaha

a 38" dropthrough longboard is great. Real easy to push and with the cutouts you can stuff 85mm wheels sometimes even 97mm that roll over everything easily.

I used to hit a rock and skid with my skateboard in the 70's. But I see they have cloud wheels with the e-boards now. I wonder if they have soft wheels for regular skate boards.
@OgdenSikel
@OgdenSikel 2 жыл бұрын
The wheels on my cruiser are pretty soft and good, they are 72mm hawgs wheels and go over everything! And for such a stiff deck, it’s pretty damn smooth. The Thing about big wheels though is you gotta be careful cuz they can make your skateboard heavy real quick

Just go on Landyatchz website the one he has is the Dinghy Turbo flight(the one with little golden birds his graphic is different because he painted it himself over it)and it has Plow king wheels(bigger wheels than normal dinghy so it’s smoother and grippier) it’s $199 USD btw but it’s a great board that I’m sure you’ll get you mileage out of it
@zmby6785
@zmby6785 2 жыл бұрын
@@aldoperez23 I looked at the specs and its almost exactly the same as my old one. do you think I should just replace the wheels?
@aldoperez23
@aldoperez23 2 жыл бұрын
@@zmby6785 which dinghy do you have? If you have standard Dinghy classic shape then the only real differences is that the turbo has a layer of fiber glass in between for a snappier feel that also makes it more durable and also it’s a bit flared at the the tip to keep your feet in there, also it comes with plow kings which are just bigger then the standard size if you really wanted to you could just buy some plow kings and maybe add small riser pads(idk if the turbo is the same height as a normal dinghy) so you don’t get a chance of getting wheel bite. But if you really like a certain board or want to switch up your dinghy shape and want to get a new one I’d say it’s worth it for a brand new deck or maybe wait for next years new releases until you find one you really like. Like for me my first board was a Landyatchz switch 35 drop down but then I wanted to get something more portable and smaller to try and use a tail so I got the dinghy BK which I love to this day but then this year when I saw the Dinghy Hibiscus I fell in love(it was between that and the dinghy crown peak,I love that decal too)so I went to multiple skate shops in order to find them and compare them and I found the Hibiscus first try and saw it was actually textured on the graphic so that made me like it even more so I ended up getting it because I liked everything about it and also the fact that it was a slightly different shape for my dinghy BK(shape 9,basically more rectangular shaped) and the hibiscus was a normal classic dinghy and I love how clean it looks. But now imma wait till next years election until I buy a new board that catches my eyes
@OgdenSikel
@OgdenSikel 2 жыл бұрын
That’s a bunch of info above me 😄 thanks, for a quick tldr; yes I have the dinghy turbo, it’s differences include bigger wheels and wheel cutouts, riser pads and fiberglass layer. Getting a reg dinghy deck and adding the 72mm wheels plus 1/4” risers should be fine. Up to you but I really enjoy the big wheels!
