I tried Necronomicon 3 on Ursa against Necrophs as an experiment before the BF build became popular. It was quite strong (in that game) and it helped a lot with the mana regen, dewarding, map control, Aspd and Mspd and most importantly countering Necrophos's counter to me, the Ghost shroud. It was a fun game however unfortunately we lost the game because my team decided to prolong the game instead of a GG push when all the enemies were dead.. Oh well...

Cool video! I noticed you mentioned something but didn't give it enough importance. This meta there are a lot of heroes with summons: lycan, beastmaster, enigma, nature's prophet. Even supports with necronomicon. So a good idea for a carry is an early game fighter that can be tanky and that can deal with summons. Ursa fits 2 out of 3 of these things. He's really good at fighting and is pretty tanky with his ult. So battlefury is crucial to help him deal with summons and completes his kit. The mana regen is definitely a big bonus and comes with an item that makes sense for most games. So yeah, he's a rare hero that can pull this off.

I would say interns of the mana regen on Ursa is where the neutral items comes into play, either the net or the essance ring, etc, could be potential options depending the items in the pool that you get

No, neutral items are NEVER a reliable source to count on. They are a bonus, nothing more. Every game you play the items to drop will be selected randomly and it CAN and WILL happen frequently that you don't even drop a mana Regen item. and even if you get like a clumsy net or the meka ring, who said that your jungle legion doesn't keep it for herself because "iT's NiCe rEgEn oN mE". This is no flame, I just want to point out that neutral items are not reliable in any way.

What if you get a mango tree? Would it all change? Is rain drops too little mana? It’s a pub strat but what if you get necro. No need too tank if something else is tanking. Necro into whatever you need seams good enough. I’m a hardcore support player so who knows.

Looking at the exemplary game at the end i cant help but notice that the ursas team is veeeery cc heavy. Is the build meta enough for that to be irrelevant or would another lineup still force ursa to get some cc of his own? To me the philosophy of the build seems to be that it no longer sacrifices ms, survivability and most of all dps (particularly in the form of cleave) to get the early abyssal which, imo, more than anything served to enable ursa at all because without it hed just get kited (i.e. now he relies on his team to enable him and supply the gapclosing cc). TlDr: would you still pick ursa nowadays in lineups with little cc (since, as you argued, abyssal builds seem to be nerfed far enough as to render them suboptimal and then you might just go with another carry)

Actually this was an old build from Miracle i think before ti9. It has the same concept with Troll Battlefury where you sustain mana to spam skills, clear waves faster with attack speed and cleave. Tried this on the past and its weakness is that all early game earnings are built for a farming item so you are not too strong to fight after farming this which differs from the fighting build where you can kill anyone after the laning stage.

Hey Couple of doubts. 1. Phase boots seem important for chasing, especially if somebody is blocking your way. Makes so much sense on a hero which wants to burst down peole. 2. Neutral items like Clumsy Net, Arcane ring, Essence ring easily fill that mana gap for ursa so we can still rush abyssal which just seems god tier on Ursa. 3. Wave clearing becomes a problem against pusher heroes, so I think that's only where BF build makes sense. Thoughts?

treads is better if ur going to build battlefury because of the stats and u can be a bit efficient with the tread switching, also, ur boots whether treads or phase boots determines ur build and playstyle. with treads ur wanting to farm a bit and with phase boots u want to fight

Phase could be viable in some games, especially against overwhelmingly physical lineups. Neutral Items can definitely fill the void but counting on RNG to make a complete build is pretty risky. Wave clearing is important in every single game because it sets you up to do aggressive things on the map.

I really get this concept, I've been thinking about this for a long while and wondering why people haven't been doing it yet. Battlefury really 'fixes' a lot of the problems that ursa has, he is already the earliest timing carry in the game (I believe, all he needs is boots and an OOV to pressure). but he always ran into scaling problems because shit farming, shit wave clear, awful mana for long fights

Any carry would love a BF, but the item takes a while to come out, and it's not a fighting item, it's something you build to afk farm. The item is just benefiting Ursa right now do to a few changes.

I built BF while playing PA because I figured BF stats are nicer than just MoM stats and I could take the lifesteal talent anyway, but I literally had 3 of my teammates spam ping that item and straight give up because I built it. I swear I had seen other high elo players build it on PA and I was losing my mind because these guys were like "PA stuck in 2015 meta" when BF seemed like the meta build. I just KNOW if I build BF on Ursa I'm gonna have people do the same shit but it looks good on paper and again, I see pros and high elo players building it and they must be doing it for a reason. You're correct: BF is still considered a core item on PA unless you need to fight early and go straight for deso->BKB. If you're genuinely giving your hero/item/game decisions thought (it reads like you are), then don't pay too much attention to your teammates if they choose to flame you. They just aren't worth your time.

Lifestealer doesnt rely as heavily on his spells to do stuff. They are costly but rarely used (except rage maybe) and the regen doesnt help much a hero that doesnt really have hp management issues. Maelstrom not only does the job but it also makes him use his passive better, effectively gaining more hp this way than any hp regen could.

probably it's not worth it. The main reason why bf is op on ursa is his a passive skill dmg will cleave as well. if let's say a support is sitting behind a tank, the support will get the cleave dmg from the bf thus making them having a hard time. Where as LS, buying a bf just means he has +60dmg some regen and mana regen.

i buy battlefury on Lifestealer every game, and I go mid with him so I can soak up farm and get the BF at 10mins every game. It works well honestly. If you take a look at BSJ and other streamers, they constantly run out of mana as LS. I'm playing in ANCIENT bracket, and the BF on LS has an 80% winrate across 50 games. After the BF you'd wanna build some frontlining items, like armlet, halberd Abyssal, since BF is your damage item.

I'm not sold on BF+Treads Ursa. It's so greedy. Later on there's a Windlace and a Yasha to compensate for the lack of Phaseboots movespeed. And I honestly don't think Ursa scales that well into late situations. Every support will have force staff or a glimmer, or even a ghost scepter available. Then your stuck buying at least 4 expensive items to get kills consistantly (BF/Treads like suggested, then you going to need a Yasha because of the lack of movespeed, a Nullifier to be able to get through defensive items, and another 4k Item to actually not just straight up die). Ergo instead of a 12-14k gold build for a Tempo carry you are suddenly looking at like 18-22k gold. That's like Naga/Terrorblade greedyness territory. Isn't it?

One of the traits of a top player is adaptability to the patch.

you master dota by learning the principles and not specifics of the hero or patch metas, if you understand the core concepts like shoving lanes, getting objectives, proper map movement and ganking etc, then you can play well in every patch. Adaptability is also important but unless you are playing very high level pubs like top 1000 immortals, most of the time having mastery over the fundamentals and core principles is much more important than focusing on the specifics of the patch in my opinion.
