Note: In Gujrat, the RTO charges are calculated on the pre tax charges and not the ex showroom charges of a vehicle. So Vehicles are actually cheap in Gujrat.

Gujarat has one of best roads atleast I can confirm for southern Gujarat whether you go rural, urban, highway, expressway, all are mostly great. (bullet train construction is still a headache at some places)

Goto Rajkot Gondal Rajpipla Vadodara ..Highway connecting Statue.of Unity..Its a nightmare for Drivers and 2 wheelers . Western Gujarat coastal gujarat has no maintenance. Of Roads . RAJULA bhavnagar Una Somnath Gondal Junagadh.. All are Worst.. Im from Gujarat but even Chattisgarh roads are better than gujarat and Some Highways in Gujarat are good but they are only a few specially NE 1 and Nh8

Rajasthan doing bad in terms of "road density" is primarily due to the presence of the Thar desert which occupies a large area of the state where roads either cannot be built or are not really required.Telangana is a shocker however.

nice informational video. I too had this question but then from by experience driving throughout these states except the north Indian states like HR HP RJ and GJ, I can tell that Assam has the best rural roads. By rural we generally imaging broken/patchy roads in very poor conditions. But trust me that is not the case for Assam rural roads. The main two reasons are reason are: 1. All roads are newly constructed and less than 5 yrs old. 2. Because of high rainfall and potential damages due to water clogging, all these rural road are made of concrete blocks to easily despite water and easily blend with any changes in soil structures. They do not break and rarely get potholes. Also easy to repair if in case of potholes. Just fill the gap with some new blocks. They stay inter-locked almost forever.

Hi, I think population density is what drives road density, so Rajasthan obviously has a lot of non inhabited regions hence low density of roads? Kerala is more like a continuous series of towns / cities from north to south - so of course it has lot of roads per unit area. Maybe a metric which combines population density with road density would be appropriate really.

Great video, Pranay. I am sure there has been loads of effort and research. IMHO roads down south are the best in the country. I can totally vouch Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have some amazing roads. I still think you should have included a resale value of vehicles as a criteria to evaluate the overall ranking. Not everyone has a luxury to own a brand new car. Car will always be a depreciating asset and a smart buyer would still go for a pre-owned vehicle. Still love your no bs analysis and videos. There is lot of noise on yt and I feel you talk about topics that actually matter.

There is one more nuance in Rajasthan's case. Large part of the state is desert and inhabitable which is impacting the road density score.

Nagaland is the best state to register public vehicles like trucks in. Lowest state imposed taxes. So, you might have seen a NL plated car but most probably that car is of someone from WB and the driver from UP. No association with NL😂

I think Road density metric needs more filtering or maybe a different way of measuring it. Rajasthan is at bottom because it's the biggest state but it doesn't have a big population for it's area. So there might be areas with 10kms of road for 1000 sq km with 20 people living in the whole area.

Kerala has the same tax slab as Karnataka, with horrible cops that will fine you for even adding aftermarket mirrors to your car.

I think the road density metric is still a bit incorrect, Rajasthan for example has a lower road density because the population density is much much lower that in kerala/WB. It can be said that Rajasthan is more 'empty' than Kerala, Hence the need to have roads in particular areas within the state would be lower, hence fewer roads, however the lower population density make the roads more empty and hence more 'fun to drive on'. Thoughts?

Road density would correlate to population density. Normalise for per capita income. Haryana is a surprise as large parts of it is arid.

With Road Density you should also factor in the population density. Though Rajasthan has the low road density but with lower population density the driving conditions are much better vs Uttar Pradesh.

I think the best roads in the country are actually in Goa. This includes the rural roads. The worst in terms of state GDP to road infrastructure would be Karnataka. Everything else lies inbetween.

​@@sameerdeshpandeYou can ask to check the density of the petrol coming out of the nozzle. The density should not vary beyond + or - 3 Kg/m^3 from the reading in the Density Log book. Density Log is a register maintained at every petrol pump to record density of Petrol and Diesel every day . You can also check the Quality or purity of the petrol by Filter paper test. It is called Whatman 2 , a small, white and round piece of paper on which you have to put some 2 drops of petrol and wait for it to evaporate. After evaporation, the filter paper should look like a new one.Basically pure petrol doesn’t leave any stain/impurity on the filter paper.

This analysis doesn't look complete and the metrics you've taken are important yet not completes the analysis. The few more you can take is: The service infrastructure The condition and design of the roads If it's ev/cng, infrastructure for that, And I can think of a few more nuanced topics to cover, but overall this video is so half baked and rests as an unfinished story.
