Reason why mumbai and pune resell cars are cheaper is very specific. Most of the Mumbai car have rust in their underbody due to weather conditions hence they are sold at cheaper rates , these mumbai car seeps into pune resell market and due to market forces pune car rates also get normalise to these lower rates. But due to general price rise in whole automotive industry, these cheaper resell market also aren’t very cheap these days

Lovely to see folks sharing same pastimes. The Civic is a spectacular car. Just came back from a 300 km road trip in my 2008 FD1 Civic. I cruised at ~110 km/h through the highways, some backroads, and it returned ~15 km/l of fuel efficiency. You can cruise around at high speeds in comfort and relative silence pretty much the entire day in this car. Feels special everytime I drive it and an absolute peach to look at!

Thank you for the video. The BMW 3gt is from my area lol.. PS : Pune prices are 10% higher more than mumbai, the reason is especially in the luxury segment, is the sheer volume of luxury cars in mumbai. Where every 6th car is a Import; in pune the number is 20-25 for a luxury car. Also parking costs a bomb in mumbai, not so much in pune. Although rust is a issue in mumbai due to humidity. But i am glad to hear we get better deals in maharashtra than other states.

Reason why second hand cards are expensive in Delhi - I think the people in Delhi/NCR are more open to second hand cars than folks based out of Mumbai, therefore higher prices. And, I think ppl in Delhi are willing to spend more on cars (or actually everything in general) than ppl in Mumbai.

Easy option to check service history would be through car info app where you just need to pay 249-299 and expect to get that within a day or two.. That amount is fairly nominal especially if you are spending 10-15 lks min on used cars

6:20: I had a same question answered by a used car dealer here in Delhi/ncr who use to do car business in Bombay. he said , petrol cars in Maharashtra are cheaper than Delhi / ncr and diesel cars are cheaper in Delhi/ ncr than Maharashtra. It’s the demand and supply.

@@Bhakthi_Prapatti mostly the wb cars are lower priced because the tax has not been paid for lifetime that is 15 years. WB has a law where in you can just pay road tax for 5 years and then repay for next year and so on. Also if you are planning to buy a car which is from WB and has a life time tax paid and is still coming at a lower price from Bombay or Delhi, please, please get the car odometer reading cross verified through the service history of the car. There are good number of cases malpractices happening there. It exists everywhere but slightly more in WB in my opinion, according to my research, no offence to anyone. Thanks

I really love the Volkswagen Beetle, and since the last model launched in India was back in 2015 I guess, for the price in the 2nd hand market is too high, I think those things are very much negotiable, but how much I have no idea, I have no recent plans of buying that car, but I have been searching for it every where since the last 2 years and plan to buy it finally by the end of 2025. Just FYI on the prices... The worst is Bangalore.. people here seem to have a lot of money to spare due to which its a dealer is making humongous profits especially on cars that cost 20 lks plus.. They give terrible reasons when to want to sell and opposite reasons when you want to buy ... For a guy who knows a fair bit about depreciation ans brands value plus the market they just don't allow negotiation due to which I bought an Octavia with atleast 2 lks more than what i would get in Mumbai or Delhi.. of course Direct proportions of road tax considered when I say 2 lks more

Also I was just window shopping and first had my mind on Jeep Compass to trade my 5th gen City but then eliminated that and Octavia/Superb; cars just don't get better than these so I stuck with Octavia and spent travelling within Bangalore in the peak summer of April 2024 and finally landed a great car from an owner I could speak to.. While he sold it for 16 lks, I bought it for 21 lks and I wanted to negotiate to 20 with all good reasons but the dealer just wouldn't agree

From my experience, let me answer why cars might be cheaper in some states 1) they are cheaper to buy. State taxes may be relatively less 2) poor quality of roads. Worse the quality roads, lesser the price (implying more wear & tear)

Lets take the example of Civic, the civic was 3 years old and we took the dep to be around 40% , since it was driven 75K already, do you think we should be calculating the dep based on the Kms driven ? Lets say a sedan like that can peak ~1.5Lac Kms , should we consider the 75K as 50% dep ? 2.Do people buy cars out of state? Say Im living in NCR and i want to get the car from Maharashtra and then change the registration, is it possible ?

2-The change of registration is possible, you'd have to get the car registered in NCR and pay road tax, and apply for a new number. I'm guessing all of it would cost under Rs 1L

I would rather apportion a higher depreciation for a High end car since you pay for the worth rather than brand value (which inflates the high end cars’ price) in the second hand market. That['s a great analysis. Just a recommendation : To have a fair calculation, you must also take inflation in consideration. For example, the value of 10 lakhs in 2019 was higher than the value of 10 lakhs in 2024 Hence, just by looking at the price of the car back when it was launched isn't the complete picture. The 10 lakhs that he paid for the car was more expensive than the 10 lakhs you are setting as the benchmark. Factoring in 6% inflation would be fair with the seller and give a better idea to the consumers. Thanks!

Please do more of these. This is excalty what i do to pass off time with my friends. But the way i calculate price is 20% off on the price in the first year. Then 10% off on that price for every year. Ie: (value of the car *.8) - (value of the car *.8)*(.1)^(total years-1)

From one PK to another Here is a trick i used while buying my used vento. I went to VW showroom told them i have car for exchange then they sent a guy to check i made friends with him asking as they evaluate cars does he has any reference. While inwas looking for car i called him to evaluate the car and they have access to VW/skoda records and he helped me evaluate and negotiate and i paid him 5k for his service

Well I think one thing that is not accounted for is the crazy inflation of prices of cars in the covid times and how expensive cars have begun. We should factor in the cost of a new car in a similar segment and then calculate the percentage depreciation. For eg to look at the Endeavour we should look at the cost of the base variant of fortuner.

For a used car, it is not about the price of car, but the value for buyer and seller. The meeting point of price is the moment of truth ! Inflation is for new cars, for used cars, it is always depreciation from the purchase price. Remember a car is a depreciating asset ! The argument for inflation for new cars does not hold for a used car, hence the deprecation is always calculated on the original purchase price!
