I love lilacs. One can never have too many lilacs. I take the baby lilacs, dig them up, put them in pots and make more lilacs - because one can never have too many lilacs! 🙂

My lilac plants (not trees) were out of control this year, spilling over the walkway. I didn't know what to do, but I assumed that your advice also works with blooming lilac plants. So I did it and the look wonderful.

Suckers are a big problem, I hope this newspaper mulch hint works. Newspaper, I can get from the recycle center, Mulch I can get from those cutting roadside brush-

Will it hurt my Shrub if I cut off the last years dead flowers this Spring?

My lilac is about 4-5 years old and never have any flowers just green leaves? I never did anything to it so clearly this is not great advice from my point of view. Any advice please

I got over 10 lilac trees, the ones I prune just after blooming are full and beautiful the next year, the other ones don't even bloom sometimes. My tip, trim them back mid June, shorter than a normal trim. That would help for next year blooms. Good luck 👍

It takes 4 to 6 years for young lilacs to bloom. If it is after 6 years it still doesn't bloom, maybe it doesn't get enough sunshine.
