Pineapple core is actually okay to eat, if it is ripe enough. The extra fiber can prevent sugar crashes from all that fructose.

Good call! Extra fiber helps slow down the release of sugar into the blood, which helps prevent spikes and crashes. With that said, everyone's body absorbs sugar differently, and have different insulin levels, so one's mileage may vary.

So fun fact about pineapples, they don’t continue to ripen after it’s been picked. So the ripeness that it’s at when harvested is the ripest it will ever get. Therefore, in countries like the USA that cannot easily grow their own pineapples, we’ve more than likely never tasted a REAL ripe pineapple. It’s always half ripe when picked so that it’ll keep it from spoiling while it’s shipped to other countries. It’s kind of depressing if you think about it lol we in the USA have never tasted the TRUE flavor of a pineapple 😢
@sandraolsen659625 күн бұрын
When I buy several pineapples I let them sit at room temperature until you see the greenish color ripening to some tannish color, and softer touch of the flesh before eating it. It becomes softer and 😋 sweeter. You can slow down the ripening and keep them in the refrigerator until you want to ripening o e at a time.
@erintucker1225 күн бұрын
@@sandraolsen6596 that’s just the sugars fermenting making it taste sweeter, but it’s not actually ripening. You can look it up, they don’t ripen after being picked. They rot. So in North America, even the pineapples you let rot on your counter will never taste as sweet as a pineapple that was actually given the opportunity to ripen on the plant. You’re simply incorrect.

Or when they buy a whole 1 they cut it up either the same day or next. I tell them they didn't let it ripen. People think they can cut it & eat it right away. But yes super sweet.

@@carmenjimenez7929 you beg to differ with... biology and nature? I am curious if you actually know that the pineapple became sweeter, did you try it before and after you "ripened" it? Que bien deliciosa Piña, Solo una observacion y aprovechando tu espacio … no te deshagas del tallo, el centro o el nucleo de la piña ..🙏 Ahi contiene la Bromelina o Bromelaina.. Que es una enzima potente.. Antiinflamatorio, antibacteriano etc..
