Pineapple core is actually okay to eat, if it is ripe enough. The extra fiber can prevent sugar crashes from all that fructose.
@nickm2890
@nickm2890 25 күн бұрын
Good call! Extra fiber helps slow down the release of sugar into the blood, which helps prevent spikes and crashes. With that said, everyone's body absorbs sugar differently, and have different insulin levels, so one's mileage may vary.

Don't even need to do that much. Peel the bottom couple rows of leaves off, revealing the tiny nubbins that will grow into roots and then you shove that right in the dirt. The drying and water start are not required at all. In fact, I personally have never successfully had the water start work but just throwing that crown in a pot of dirt? Works every time.

I take the core, cut into smaller chunks, and then blend about half the core with a little bit of onion, garlic, some kind of citrus juice, and about a half cup of Worcestershire sauce. It makes an amazing tenderizing marinade, but will turn your meat to mush if you leave it too long. You can even use the peel as well, but I find it can be bitter if blended too much.

Pro tip: don’t eat too much raw pineapple at a sitting. The bromelain in it will break down the proteins in your skin, making your lips raw. There’s also itsy-bitsy crystals in it that hurt, too. What I’m saying is: show raw pineapple who’s boss responsibly.

Also, if you have that much acidic fruit everyday in large quantity, then Bromelain doesn't need to affect you, but the acid itself will show it's bad effect... There's this saying in Tamil Language, 'அளவுக்கு மிஞ்சினால் அமிர்தமும் நஞ்சு', which means even if you take an immortal potion in very large quantity, it can become toxin!!! 🤷🏻‍♀️

So fun fact about pineapples, they don’t continue to ripen after it’s been picked. So the ripeness that it’s at when harvested is the ripest it will ever get. Therefore, in countries like the USA that cannot easily grow their own pineapples, we’ve more than likely never tasted a REAL ripe pineapple. It’s always half ripe when picked so that it’ll keep it from spoiling while it’s shipped to other countries. It’s kind of depressing if you think about it lol we in the USA have never tasted the TRUE flavor of a pineapple 😢

When I buy several pineapples I let them sit at room temperature until you see the greenish color ripening to some tannish color, and softer touch of the flesh before eating it. It becomes softer and 😋 sweeter. You can slow down the ripening and keep them in the refrigerator until you want to ripening o e at a time.

@@sandraolsen6596 that’s just the sugars fermenting making it taste sweeter, but it’s not actually ripening. You can look it up, they don’t ripen after being picked. They rot. So in North America, even the pineapples you let rot on your counter will never taste as sweet as a pineapple that was actually given the opportunity to ripen on the plant. You’re simply incorrect.

@@erintucker12 Oh I beg to differ - I get my pineapple to ripen might take days but I know when it's ready. And when I cut it up & bring it to a party people always tell me they never had tasted such a sweet pineapple & where did I get it. Most people buy the ones already cut up in the stores. Or when they buy a whole 1 they cut it up either the same day or next. I tell them they didn't let it ripen. People think they can cut it & eat it right away. But yes super sweet.

@@carmenjimenez7929 you beg to differ with... biology and nature? I am curious if you actually know that the pineapple became sweeter, did you try it before and after you "ripened" it? Don't get me wrong pineapples become softer if you leave them out for a bit but it is literally impossible for them to become sweeter as they get the starch they need to produce more sugar from its stem, so they can not get produce more sugar

@@blotrux421 All I know is I use 2 cut into it & was bland no pineapple sweet taste. So I tried several ways & of course the last test I did it came out so sweet like never before. And people always wanted to know where I got it. Maybe sometimes biology is different in some pineapples🤷 I don't know. All I know my pineapples when I let them sit a certain time just right they come out really sweet & not rotten. Hey but don't get all twisted it's just a 🍍
