Reveal New Zealand Ep 22 in the depths of the South Island. We're exploring in the Catlins, Nugget Point Lighthouse, Nugget Point Lighthouse, Purakanui Falls, Curio Bay, the Petrified Forest and finally travel down to Bluff for the famous Bluff Oysters! It's a BIG few days...⬇ More Below ⬇
This is the largest vlog from this New Zealand road trip and travel vlog series so far! We're in the depths of the South Island exploring The Catlins initially. It's an area well known for it's incredible landscapes full of natural beauty, rare and endangered wildlife, rainforests, sandy beaches and waterfalls. It's home to Nugget Point and one of New Zealand's oldest lighthouses, Nugget Point Lighthouse.
This is such an enormous vlog that typing out everything in the video would take longer than the edit itself haha. But if you're reading this for information on what, where, how, why etc feel free to leave a comment and we'll get back to you.
But in short we also:
- walk the Purakanui track which is only a 10 minute walk down to the Purakanui Falls
- Stay at Curioscape campgrounds at Curio Bay
- Explore the coast line and the Petrified Forest
- Drive down to the bottom of New Zealand to a spot known as Bluff, to taste the famous Bluff Oysters
Reveal NZ is a 20+ part video series, so make sure you're subscribed to follow along with all episodes here: goo.gl/SWdJQH More than just taking a motorhome around New Zealand, it's about how to travel New Zealand, the top tourist spots, the hidden local gems, incredible day trips, extreme activities, amazing accommodation and a spot of wining and dining... It's about making you feel like you're along for the travels with us, so grab a drink of your poison, sit back and get ready for 5 weeks driving in a campervan hire from Auckland to The Catlins.

Another epic episode guys! That wild landscape, the crazy wind, the sketchy slippery road, the fossilised forest and those incredible oysters 👌 What a contrast this experience is to your Thailand videos of a few years back. I reckon your series is the best advert for New Zealand out there and their tourist board should be giving you a call! 👍

I heard of Bluff Oysters in an ad for NZ lotto. This was on TV2, yes I got addicted to Shortland Street in Rarotonga since my 1997 visit. It was great to see the very blowy south of the South Island. Great video. Cheers guys. From Philip in Melbourne.

Everything in this episode reminded me so much of Scotland. The sheep with lambs, there being no where to eat because the odd place that does exist was shut, the crazy winds, raw wild beaches and coastlines, the seafood, something tells me I'll like the deep south when I make it there! Sad to know it's coming to an end soon though 😞

I love oysters and prefer them raw with a few drops of japanese ponzu sauce on it and nothing else. And I love chewing them. Delicious! Bluff oysters are the best in the world, pleased you got there, however, disappointed you didn't spend time in Invercargill...it's not the toilet that people north of the Bombays think it is.. Lots to see and do.. Yes, it's been a bit windy, but wait a few hours...!! By the way...no floods here, how's the North Island been lately...😏😏

Different topic: how do you deal with hate mail? Today we received our first piece of hate mail (comment) , and although first I was really bummed out, I quickly became happy that a complete stranger took time to 1) watch our video and 2) spend time writing us (although the words were nasty). Purakaunui Bay; it's a surf spot with a sweet Doc camp site right on the beach. It has beautiful cliffs to one side of the bay and even a resident seal on the beach. Hopefully the weather is more kind next time you visit :)

Bluff oysters are without doubt the best in the world..When I was in the UK a chef asked me if I had tried them as he did when he was here...He was insanely jealous when I told him I live 35 km from the oyster beds.. Expensive now, but worth it..

Those oysters are "AmaaaaZing." :D Where I live in Blackpool UK we still have the oyster bar right on the Promenade. Back in the day oysters were a favourite of the mill workers from the surrounding cities that came here and were cheap food. I spent £11 there and had numerous tubs of seafood and three really fresh oysters and I am with you - there is nothing better. The NZ ones are 4 times the size though!
