The reason why Python exists: it was one of the first and biggest steel looping coaster in (this part of) Europe and it was quite an icon and changed Efteling's direction quite a bit. Efteling decided to retrack it by tearing down everything past the first drop and rebuilding it, but just as it was. A simple, storyless coaster.

It wasn't the first steel looping coaster in this part of Europe or even in the Netherlands, but it was a revolutionary coaster regardless. I hope they do eventually give it a theme though, it would be nice to have some sort of jungle theming in the queue and station (doubt they will retheme it to an actual fairytale given how iconic it is, but maybe they could come up with a new story to make it fit in more with the other rides)

The fact that a few million has been invested in partly replacing a 41-year-old roller coaster and putting new cars on it is probably because the track has to last a few more years to eventually replace it completely. This is most likely already in the multi-year plan. Sooner or later, Efteling will also have to invest in some more newer roller coasters that are more up-to-date and can compete with other parks. The Efteling is not exactly a park where they aim at thrill seekers, but they will nevertheless try to reach that target group. Let's face it, the Python is of course a very dated coaster with barely any theming that is 41 years old and completely written off. Normally, millions are not invested in an old roller coaster that is completely outdated. The same goes for Spookslot, which also had to be replaced.

@@TheDancefreak35 Python won't get theming anytime soon. They had three choices when they decided on the partial rebuild: retrack, replace or upgrade. They however said that when they want to upgrade or replace it, it would require a similar investment like Baron 1898 but that was too costly. Baron cost about 18 million, Python's retrack cost about 3,5 million (the trains were already replaced a couple of years earlier). They didn't want to spend that, but they wanted to keep an icon though.

Python was the very first rollercoaster in the efteling. For many people in the Netherlands it was their first proper coaster they ever got on. So the efteling decided that this coaster is too important to close down and demolish. In 2017 they did a retrack to make it more smooth and make it last another 30 years.

You are right. Carnaval Festival is a It's a small word knockoff and Fata Morgana a Pirates of the Caribbean knockoff. In essence that is. Both rides were inspired by a trip to Disneyland but the Efteling made it their own. They were build in the time that the Efteling was reinventing themself and transition from the Fairytale Forest to the amusement park it is now. That was between 1976 and 1986. Python (1981) was also part of this expansion and the Efteling. The lack of theming of Python is a mistake by the Efteling which they noted back when the ride was just finished. But the Efteling is no knockoff park. It pushes the limit of what is possible with the technology. Villa Volta, Droomvlucht and Flying Dutchman are all attempted to put something unique in the park. And Danse Macabre (replacement of spookslot) possible is doing that also. Disney has been looking at the Efteling the do with theming and ride systems for a long time. Rumored is that Walt Disney visited the Efteling before coming up with the plans to build Disneyland and Imaginers of Disney visit the Efteling regularly. Disney also asked Efteling for advice before opening EuroDisney.

Basicly it arent knockoff bc Walter disney went to the efteling a few times to get inspiration for his own parcs so actually some off the rides at disney are just good knockoff off the rides at the efteling. I'm guessing that you were there while the mist effects on the Flying Dutchman were broken? They're really crucial to the experience, and it is _so much_ worse when they don't work :( Thankfully they don't normally break, but I believe that this year they were out of order for a couple of weeks during high season. Particularly the 'storm at sea' scene really suffers then, because you can see the walls and ceilings that you're not supposed to see. As for the darkrides feeling a bit random and without a clear storyline: that is deliberate! The Efteling is very much designed around the idea of letting you wander around and 'firing up your imagination' instead of telling a linear story (which you'd likely get bored of after hearing it once). So instead, you're just dropped in a rich environment with immersive themeing, and some 'threads of a story', and the rest is left up to your imagination. That works better for some people than for others, of course :) It's also the reason the park doesn't feel "too big" - instead of pathways just being a way to get from ride A to ride B, they're a part of the experience and there's always something to see, so walking through the park doesn't feel like a slog because you're constantly engaged with all the little things happening around you. When you visit again, you'll almost certainly spot a lot of things you missed the first time around!

Good to hear you liked the park. Being Dutch, I am very familair with De Efteling. You were quite lucky to visit the park on a quiet day, because when it is busy (like in summer) things can get a bit much, and wait times can go up quite a bit. The park is most loved by the Dutch for the older (Anton Pieck designed) parts & theming, like the fairy tale forest. The park really tried to use that style in all other & newer things. They mostly succeed in that, even though I personally cannot stand their (more modern) mascot Pardoes. The coasters in the park are overall good. Vogel Rok (the one in the dark) is one where they tried & mostly failed. Baron is very good (if a bit short) and really well themed. Joris en de Draak (St. John and the Dragon?) replaced a single wooden coaster (Pegasus), and improved a lot on that one (if it is working, as the ride has had technical issues lately).

Python was the first double loop coaster in europe and the first real attraction outside the fairytale forrest for the efteling 40 years ago. It is what made the efteling what it is today and is very iconic for the park, it also remained very popular troughout the years. That's why it was recently retracked and restored and will stay for another 40 years again! Efteling respects it's history. And it is still very much a familly park. Not something for the real thrillseekers. Also, disneyland was inspired by the efteling, not the other way around.

The water show is indeed way better at night. All those lights that looked like little dots on the water, make the water appear that colour at night. It makes the whole show almost a lightshow without the fog, and it's awesome! Glad to know people still love this park, I tend to hear more negative reviews from the themepark community because Efteling doesn't have crazy rides like SteVe. Also, I think De Vliegende Hollander (Flying Dutchman) felt like there were effects missing because of its story. The darkride section isn't meant to be a Symbolica type of chaos that hits you with scene after scene, it's the story of you, as members of the VOC, chasing after the rumours of the ghost ship hanging around the south of Africa. The queue depicts you entering the home of its captain, moving through his study into the secret tunnel that leads to the harbour (where he'd often steal some of his own gains to sell for himself), from where you depart. You move through the harbour, watching other ships prepare, and enter the storms of a long trip south, before coming face to face with and moving through the ghost. The face you see while stuck on the lift hill is said to be the captain's, after he changed. That 2nd scene (the storm) feels empty because it's supposed to be. You're on open seas, hearing only the rain and winds, and then suddenly the ship stands before you, reaching high and floating above the waters! It's a bit sad they don't tell the story more directly. If you know it, the ride feels a lot more like you're part of it, rather than experiencing it. It's the same thing that makes Baron so good. You aren't watching a fairytale; you're part of it.

I get why people dont like Carnaval Festival. But the day Efteling says that they are gonne remove it. There will be a civil war. There was already angry dutch people because Efteling changed 1 scene.

@@coasterbot in a few years a plot next to the park, running from Carnaval up to Python will be added. So they will have more then enough room for new attractions 😄 including a new coaster

I live in the Netherlands and yes the Efteling is a beautifull themed park but the coasters are a joke. Except for Joris and Baron . I preffer German themeparks where they have better and longer rollercoasters .

Efteling is older than any of the Disney parks. Efteling was opened on May 31st, 1952, so there are no Disney knock-offs.

Disney knock-offs? Most of the attractions were there before their Disney counterpart. So you should basically call them Efteling knock-offs, lol.

@@D.J.Themeparkvideos i thougt a small worl opened in 66 but whatever thats still way before the efteling build them. Some people just don't realize that eurodisney isn't the first park........ And efteling is my homepark so i know fatamorgana is insprired by pirates. the designers actualy made trip to disneyland to look at it. Ofcourse ty made it there own thing and not a cheap knock off. Carnaval festival lets just not talk about that one......The people like it butfor me it doesn't fit in the efteling.

Fata Morgana was based of the Pirates of the Caribbean rides. The original version of Pirates is opened in 1967 and Fata in 1986. Even the people who worked on Fata Morgana said that they where inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

Not a single ride here is a “Disney-knockoff”, in fact, Disney takes inspiration from the Efteling in case you didn’t know. It’s a Small World opened in 1992, meanwhile Carnaval Festival opened in 1984. No hate btw, just telling you. Never something wrong with learning something new.

It is most certainly not, they just managed to show only a tiny fraction of the attractions in the video and their explanations of the rest are either completely lacking or incomplete. They don't really seem to understand what the Efteling is about. It's not a park for thrill seekers, it's a park where the rides accompany the story and/or theme rather than the other way around.
