Kids under thirteen aren't even allowed to have a KZbin account legally. Why does KZbin have to babysit these people's children!? Edit: I hear a lot of you complaining about yt kids. This is just horrible. It’s so saddening to see so many people from gamers to animators channels go threw this. What is more saddening is to think that this new rule will probably be the demise of youtube because so many people are probably going to quit youtube because they won’t be able to make enough money to sustain a high enough income to eat or pay bills. Edit: Many creators have started talking about the Coppa law, and I find it annoying that KZbin is this desperate to keep their platform going when they have pretty much have ruined everything. COPPA is not to blame here, it states in the law, that it is legal to have a channel that's for general audience, which means for children and adults! KZbin chose to make channels choose these options instead choosing to make everyone have to sign in to collect your data, which would solve the entire problem of them collecting children's data. KZbin chose to do this instead because they would lose profit if they couldn't collect the data and target ads to users who aren't signed in, so they're putting this on their creators instead. The new coppa has a lot of flaws, like fines for KZbinrs outside of the US get rough since fining someone for a US law that is not actively in the US would go through more laws and stuff with the origins of that KZbinr. Then lots of big companies will be losing money from not being able to have their games and or promos. Like Nintendo, WB, Nickelodeon, ect. All companies that make content that would be deemed “childish” therefore wouldn’t be show to anyone which means they loss a big portion of their viewing and awareness. Which in short-less people will see their game/movie promos so less sales will be made.

I mentioned this at the end of my most recent video on Friday, and I’m SO glad I’m not the only one who mentioned it now. This is a pretty serious situation but let me offer some reassurance, there’s a new site called Vlare that is similar to KZbin and it is where a lot of KZbinrs are switching to as an alternate platform. While there isn’t a monetization system for it yet, it’s best to start making content there as a backup plan since KZbin is a huge dumpster fire right now. While content is being forcibly labeled right now, you can still upload videos until January before KZbin sorts the videos themselves if you don’t. What’s happening here is a moment in internet history, a moment in which some laws are going to need some serious revision. COPPA was written in 1998, and it is now 2019. I do believe they’re going to have to update some things to stick with the current times. I saw a video actually stating that they are more likely to target much larger channels and the $42K thing was a calculation of a bigger channel’s videos and the fine was dependent on how much revenue they illegally made by mislabeling deliberately. It’s pretty complicated, but I suggest everyone makes a backup plan NOW. Tell your KZbin audience if you’re switching to another platform, upload any KZbin content and properly label it before January 1st, and ditch KZbin all together if this thing goes into effect. KZbin won’t survive in January if this goes into effect. Trust me, it’ll die faster than ever. So all we can do right now is plan accordingly and hope that the petition is enough. If it isn’t, you’ll have a backup plan. Even if COPPA is implemented on other platforms, at least you’ll know for now you won’t have to support KZbin’s illegal activities. Instagram and other social media sites from what I hear are still (currently) COPPA-compliant. We’ll just have to see how this goes down. It’s an outdated law from 1998, so COPPA will need an update sooner or later.

I am so sad that KZbin got over A BILLION dollars taken away from them, just because of that. It’s so saddening to see people and their basically dream jobs, coming to an end. I will always support you no matter what. I will always be willing to be on your side at all times. I wish that KZbin understood. I am devastated, because you were basically my whole childhood, and the reason I never gave up when I was a lot younger. I love to watch gaming and family-friendly content (not that I am a child.) This will completely break me down, and I hope all animal jam youtubers who still currently create kid-friendly videos can continue their content. Especially you, Mia. This is very scary and awful. As an animal jam KZbinr myself, if COPPA falls through, I will probably plan to either quit KZbin or find something else I can do where I don’t have to select the “Made for kids” button. So, many people’s KZbin careers will be ruined. This is the saddest thing I’ve ever seen happen to KZbin.

I know I might sound like a dweeb, but I’m honestly a little upset because I like watching these anime “Gacha” videos. Some are actually really good. They have amazing editing and it’s like reading a comic. Yes, some are inappropriate, but I ignore those videos. Many of my favorite “gacha tubers” are quitting. And this is all due to the coppa law. I love animal jam and Gachas, but now I won’t be able to watch as many or comment on them / read comments. I also set my age to be around 40 on YT, so I don’t even know if I can watch your things anymore. This makes me incredibly upset, because I love scrolling through YT. I also wanted to make videos of my own, but I deleted all of them because of this. Good luck, wisteria.

This is entirely KZbin's fault! COPPA is not to blame here, it states in the law, that it is legal to have a channel that's for general audience, which means for children and adults! KZbin chose to make channels choose these options instead choosing to make everyone have to sign in to collect your data, which would solve the entire problem of them collecting children's data. KZbin chose to do this instead because they would lose profit if they couldn't collect the data and target ads to users who aren't signed in, so they're putting this on their creators instead. Is anyone else getting, “There was an error with signing this petition”? 🤦‍♀️ I’ve tried for 10 minutes and re-checked everything and it was all correct and legit. It’s not based on your location is it because I’m over in Ireland? I’m an 18 year old who’s interested in wanting to make videos and this whole new law put in will just mess it up for me too. I understand where they’re coming from with this law in some ways but they took 10 steps too far and is about to crash the entire system. Personally I’d turn to streaming or another platform for video making.
