I walked 40 minutes to get to this point and was surprised with what I found. I went exploring and metal detecting here in NH in the early spring late winter and was out following rock walls. These are not ordinary stone walls that you would think the colonial farmers and settlers built. These are massive ! miles long and are in huge grid squares. We are talking ancient and mysterious . Anyways, this wall just came to a point where it seemed to end but then I notices there were massive rocks laid out in a line of a couple hundred feet beyond the stop. All spaces out and ready to go .....but never finished? why? who? You have to see this.
I then spent some time metal detecting and dug up a large old copper coin near the river which rounded out the day nicely. Mysteries of New England stone walls and stacked rocks. Did the American settlers build this? is it older than we think and history tells us?

When I lived in Maine I did a lot of exploring on backcountry roads and trails. I found a mostly abandoned road that had the most amazing stone walls lining both sides. They were almost landscaping perfect with occasional nicely squared off breaks. This went on for at least a half a mile or more.

Should've taken measurements between those rock markers, may give you further insight on the rock wall construction. Again I would love to see you detect along a a rock wall from both sides and see what might be found.

It was actually no big deal for farmers to move huge boulders, if they had oxen. And sometimes walls weren't meant to be barriers as much as just being the spot to dispose of rocks. The farmer could skid the stones with a team of oxen, and better yet over snow.... but farmers also had 'stump pullers' which were huge wheels joined by an axle... they could move very impressive loads using this. Great videos, thanks!! Your narrative and take on things sounds very much like mine as I wander thru the woods, although there's a lot less in coastal CT. Kayaking flatwater rivers is also something I bet you would like. There are advantages- you can travel with a lot of camping gear and stuff in a kayak with no effort.

I would suspect that moving rocks like that there would be all kinds of buttons and suspenders popping. Beautiful place.

I had a friend who used a old bike spoke, and would poke down in the area first, then dig. I asked why, and he said that this method helps determine how deep, and how large the object is. It also keeps you from accidently damaging whatever it is.

Partial wall makes me think they had surveyors to set it up, then the grant holder (or a wall building team) would follow and build the walls…

Enjoyed your exploration hike in chilly New Hampshire. Last week, we had temps in the 70s, pollen pouring like rain and open windows at night. Today, the HVAC is running sporadically because temp is dropping below 68. Eastern VA weather at its finest!

YOU KNOW THE WOODS OF SOUTHERN NH AS GOOD AS ANYBODY, YOU SHOULD DO A SHOW ON strange things you might have encountered out there. Odd animal sounds, encounters, erratic behavior, etc. I think you have done a few, I will look , It just seems to me if Sasquatch is real and living in this state and this dimension you would have had at least a say howdy moment. MY research has led me to the fact that schizophrenia effects 1 in 300 people and in a country of 400mill thats alot of odd shit that could be reported. I lived in the bush of S.E. Alaska for 13 years and saw nothing that would make me believe in the old big hairy.
