Wes Barker is a Canadian magician and comedian doing funny tricks, and telling great stories. You may know me from my TV show Big Trick Energy (truTV, HBOmax, Netflix). alternate answer(?) - the man in the mask (not a criminal) was an exterminator (mask was for job and safety) and had previously that day gassed the mans house to clear out bugs (was not "currently" at the mans home) , so he was afraid that all the chemicals hadnt fully cleared out yet

My first thought was that... (Hopes this works and you have to extend the text) Was that he got robbed at a bank by a man in a mask, and was held hostage at gun point... Thus, he was afraid of leaving the bank, a.k.a "go home"

I did not get this one. I went through several options: The man was an inmate who had escaped from an asylum (so that was his "home") and he was scared of the man in the surgical mask. The man was travelling home, but there was a masked man on his flight who was hijacking his plane. The man was prevented from going home because of a chemical/biological outbreak and the man in the mask was a CDC agent (or similar). The man was in an abusive relationship with another man who was into sadomasochism. The sports angle never even occurred to me, but then I'm not American or Canadian so Baseball and Hockey weren't really on my radar! Good riddle though. I enjoyed it. lol

I believe I owe someone an apology, Mrs Wes I am so sorry for referring to you as Mrs Wes it's just a respectful thing, as you are married and I'm an old fart I tend to refer to someone as Mrs and their husband's name. So I apologize for this I was just trying to big up Wes on the BOB show as he was getting it tight over being very very drunk " Full credit to the fast show for that line" so I thought give him his place and out of respect direct my admiration to the fantastic relationship you have as you are as nuts as each other and that's a special thing and something to be cherished, you both are as funny as hell and are just right for each other. I first heard this riddle decades ago, but it was phrased as, "A man is running home. He sees a man in a mask, so he turns and runs back the way in which he came." It gives the person trying to figure it out a bit more information to work w/.
